To think my friend is disgusting for reporting this woman?

A woman at my friends stable moved her two horses today to a new yard. According to my friend, You are not allowed to move horses to a new yard unless it's to do with the welfare of the horse.
My friend reported this woman to the police and then all proudly told me what she had done!
I wouldn't dream of reporting anyone, unless there's a massive party going on. I told my friend that it's a bit extreme to report someone for just moving her horses!

What, so if you relocate to an area hours away you can't move your horse?

Maybe this woman had welfare concerns about the stables?

And why the fuck would the Police give a shit when most times they don't even bother coming out to a fucking burglary, they just give you a crime number. Oh but someone's moved their horse to new stables???!!! Call Scotland Yard!!!

What a knob she is.

BelgianFudge · 08/01/2021 00:30

How pathetic.

During the first lockdown, I needed to move from one place to another for reasons that weren't explicitly 'allowed' in the guidelines. I emailed the police 101, explained my circumstances and asked whether it would be ok.

They said that they are concerned with people travelling without good reason. The reason I gave was a good reason, so they couldn't see that there would be a problem.

At the end of the day, they've got bigger fish to fry. My rule of thumb is - is it reasonable, and will it risk spreading COVID? if the answer to the first is yes, and the second is no, then just go ahead and do it.

FunkBus · 08/01/2021 00:34

Even though I'm a stickler for the rules, I am so bloody tired of the people who moan on and on and oooon about those who break them.

We're a year into this, we can see that some people follow the rules to the letter, some are flexible, some don't give a shit. That is life.

Your friend needs a hobby.

Sinful8 · 08/01/2021 00:36

*Police Scotland stormed into a family home yesterday - on suspicion they had guests around... In fact their seriously ill daughter had just been discharged from hospital.

They seem to have forced that confrontation, the officer was calm and just trying to investigate till the man tried to physically shove him out and the whole family pilied in

ElizaLaLa · 08/01/2021 01:09

I wouldn't be friends with her anymore.

She's a cunt.

Heathercob · 08/01/2021 01:22

Chances are, depending on the yard, the new hirse, and therefore the owner will be isolated from the other horses for a few days in case it's harbouring Strangles or similar.
Definitely not a reason to report the owner to the police. A few people from our yard more during the March lockdown (The yard had been bought for a new housing development and we are now on grass livery only) and no one even considered reporting them!

AcornAutumn · 08/01/2021 01:34

@ElizaLaLa

I wouldn't be friends with her anymore.

She's a cunt.

Same here, I couldn't be friends with someone like this.

A neighbour reported two lads playing football in the park in lockdown. He told me this quite proudly. I walked away in disgust, after confirming that I had understood correctly.

I don't even acknowledge him any more.

Rhiannon13 · 08/01/2021 01:36

Miss having horses so much, but don't miss the yard bitchiness.

Hopefully your friend will be given a good talking to about wasting police time.

partyatthepalace · 08/01/2021 01:45

Tragic. How bored is she?

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 08/01/2021 02:16

Your friend is a hole and the woman who moved her horses is well out of there.

Just at the first lockdown, a dog in our family required to travel many miles to a specialist after a terrible injury. Would she have reported that too? (Like one of the neighbours did?)

Parties/massive gatherings I understand will get reported.

Reporting someone even though it is for animal welfare reasons?

Holes.

MessAllOver · 08/01/2021 05:13

Why are you friends with this woman? Does she have something on you? Is it a case of "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer"?

Be warned... it will be you next because you picked up a "non-essential" takeaway coffee on your daily walk!

pictish · 08/01/2021 06:22

I’m not a fan of a busybody or a ‘reporter’ having no inclination to self-importantly cause undue shit for others. Mumsnet is full of them though. “I’d report them” is a familiar statement on here. Bored, malicious, nosy twats.

So no...I wouldn’t be impressed either. I once bailed on a new friendship after she proudly told me she had reported her neighbour for benefit fraud. Off you fuck.

Sayonaraa · 08/01/2021 06:22

Honestly, one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard. I couldn’t be friends with someone like this as I’d feel the need to call her out on it, which probably wouldn’t end well!

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/01/2021 06:25

And she’s still a friend? Can you gracefully back away?

ramblingsonthego · 08/01/2021 06:25

I wouldn't be friends with her any longer, put it that way.

I have followed all of the rules, but to report someone for moving their horse? Absolutely pathetic and says more abut the sort of person your friend is than anything else.

ihatetrump · 08/01/2021 06:30

Is the person concerned reporting people travelling miles for other reasons? Or just being inconsistent.

fibeee · 08/01/2021 06:35

If it makes you feel better I doubt the police will do anything. A neighbour threw an illegal party during the first lockdown after which a drunk attendee took it upon themselves to inflict damage to my car. The police fobbed me off and did nothing.

BBCONEANDTWO · 08/01/2021 06:36

She needs to get a life and I wouldn't be telling her any of my business.

classiestgal · 08/01/2021 06:40

This person shouldn’t be your friend anymore. She’s not a nice person.

SnuggyBuggy · 08/01/2021 06:40

It says a lot about her character and I'd be phasing her out

Icanseegreenshoots · 08/01/2021 06:41

I would see the friend that reported differently, and would be distancing myself from someone who that was petty.

Pettiness is not an attractive quality in anyone.

devildeepbluesea · 08/01/2021 06:45

Just piling on to agree with most everyone else.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Covid has made me realise just how easy the general public made it for the Stasi.

Bookworming · 08/01/2021 06:48

Is your friend a Mumsnetter? Loads on here would report, you see it all the time and if you disagree you get called a COVID rule breaker apologist.

I too agree distance yourself from this person, they're not a friend.

1950swallpaper · 08/01/2021 06:49

What a miserable woman she must be. If you get to know the outcome please tell! UANBU

Arobase · 08/01/2021 06:53

Very silly of the stable owner. If I were the person reported, I suspect I would be taking serious steps to let the local horse-owning community know precisely why I moved to a different stable and what a cow the owner is is.
