Even Farage has noticed that this isn't the way to go, as has Johnson. Only Trump wants to tell the protestors how proud he is of them.

@MaryLeeOnHigh

Fascinating that Pence has so clearly signalled that he realises that supporting Trump would be utterly disastrous to his future political career. That leaves Trump really isolated.
Too little too late for Pence?
BelfastBloke · 07/01/2021 00:55

Frank Luntz (Republican pollster) on BBC News expressing his disgust at all these Republicans' actions.

But he says he hated the crudity of signs at the Million Women's March the day after Trump's 2017 Inauguration; and he hated the crudity of the signs today. Weird thing to say. Attacking the 'pink-hat' women from 2017.

@Doowninthedumps

Did anyone manage to screengrab the third tweet that got him banned from twitter before it went pop?
Here you go,

AcrossthePond55 · 07/01/2021 00:56

My son says one of the deleted tweets was

"Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

TheTangoTerrorIsTerrifying · 07/01/2021 00:56

@PerkingFaintly

Donie's been doing a fine job, Apileofballyhoo!
I agree Donie is great. I was a bit worried about him and the camera man/woman. At one stage they were right in the middle of the extremist Trump scumbag mob.
Coquohvan · 07/01/2021 00:58

@PerkingFaintly

I hate to say it, but I think there's a "greater good" argument for Wee Nippy saying that, after all, Donny can go to Scotland and hang out at his golf course – as long as he goes immediately.

There's a long tradition of authoritarian leaders leaving more quietly if they're given somewhere naice to go.

I know it's only a few more weeks till 20 Jan, but it would be worth it to get the sulky little shit out of the way somewhere.

We could sort out the details later it might not be too comfy.

Oh no she will put Ayrshire into Tier10. GITMO would be better more suitable for terrorists. 🤩
AcrossthePond55 · 07/01/2021 00:58

Another was about supporting the police because the are 'on the side of the country.

I don't know why that would have been deleted

PerkingFaintly · 07/01/2021 01:00

Yes, all day there have been Republicans who just CANnot condemn the behaviour of the insurrectionists without adding "But Dems/libs/women-in-pink are just as bad."

Today really isn't one of those days to play that game – and many others haven't been playing it. I've just been listening to statements from Mattis, GW Bush. They've pulled no punches.

PerkingFaintly · 07/01/2021 01:01

Divert the plane, Coquohvan? Grin

Emergency landing in St Helena?

blueangel19 · 07/01/2021 01:02

all PerkingFaintly I wish you a happy recovery dear!

TheSilveryPussycat · 07/01/2021 01:03

What did the rioters think was going to happen after they stormed the Capital? Did they expect Trump to show up?

SirChing · 07/01/2021 01:03

De-lurking to ask.....if pp on these threads were right, wasn't Trump possibly expected to be banned from Twitter when he was no longer POTUS?

And if the 25th HAD been invoked, then a massive media blackout would be needed until the Election is certified, so the MAGAs don't riot (presumably).

Is it beyond the bounds of possibility that Trump is actually no longer President as of now?

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 07/01/2021 01:06

What is Trampanzee’s new cult break away party called? It is the Patriot Party? Or is he checking in to the mental asylum when all the criminal cases and billions of debt against him catches up post presidential immunity?

ludothedog · 07/01/2021 01:07

Switching, I think you are right. Trump is no longer in charge. He is alone in the White House, isolated. He can't tweet and it doesn't sound like he has the ear of the joint chief of staff, he can scream and scream until he is sick but no one is listening anymore.

Time40 · 07/01/2021 01:08

He is clearly mentally ill, how else can his behaviour be explained?

He (probably, if he's not really mad) knows it's not true. He just wants to keep his supporters on side for his next election attempt.

MooseFlake · 07/01/2021 01:09

Delurking

Pence just re-opened the house. He sounded FURIOUS

Apileofballyhoo · 07/01/2021 01:09

I'm watching Pence on MSNBC now. He's being very presidential.

Apileofballyhoo · 07/01/2021 01:10

He's really giving it socks.

MooseFlake · 07/01/2021 01:10

McConnell on now. He also sounds furious and shaken.

Trump is now irrelevant.

AcrossthePond55 · 07/01/2021 01:11

I ❤️ Donie!

I just want to give his cheeks a squoosh.

Old enough to be his mum, so I can say that.

Back in session!!! I hope the 'objectors' have been put in their places and things can move swiftly.

tobee · 07/01/2021 01:11

@blueangel19

all PerkingFaintly You are wasting your resentment on me. However, if that makes you happy fine. May be focus in the 74 million people who voted for Trump because I did not. You are obviously part of the problem of what is going on in the US.

Oh that old one. "You made me vote that way!"

nocoolnamesleft · 07/01/2021 01:12

Pence looked livid.

DeRigueurMortis · 07/01/2021 01:15

Yes, it's been long known that when no longer POTUS he'd have less leeway on Twitter. Their policy is that they allow tweets from world leaders because it's important to let people know what they are saying, but add warnings where content is disputed.

That doesn't mean he'd be banned. Rather he'd have to follow the rules or be banned.

The reality is he probably would be banned because "the rules" are something he has no concept of (and if he did thinks don't apply to him, President or not).

As for the 25th I don't think it's been invoked. It would be a big secret to keep.

As to whose in charge - well theoretically it's Trump but based on reporting tonight I think there's been a big wake up call and senior politicians are now circumventing him to get through the transition.

I don't think he will be impeached but in effect his wings have been clipped and he will be kept "caged" until Biden is sworn in.

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/01/2021 01:15

I'm just watching CNN live. Pence has just invited Sen Schumer (D) to speak and he started with "Mr President..." !
