Feeling stupid for posting this on WhatsApp but can’t retract it

I rarely use any kind of chat as always wary of saying the wrong thing or upsetting anyone. I have really bad anxiety to put it into context. Anyway yesterday I was on a WhatsApp chat for parents at my sons school. I posted the attached to the chat as someone had posted to me. It made me smile so forwarded. Now I wished I hadn’t as I don’t usually do this and maybe other people will take offence. I feel like people may think I’m make light of a terrible situation and it’s a bit poor taste.

@Hatstrategicallydipped

You're stupid for posting it on here and fretting over people getting offended when nobody has.
Well you’re stupid for calling OP stupid and for not recognising that poor OP’s anxiety is behind her posting on here.
bobby81 · 06/01/2021 14:35

There’s been a lot worse posted in our parents WhatsApp group & no one seems to take offence x

Chocolatehamper · 06/01/2021 14:36

I had it sent to me too - and replied with a picture of me and my husband raising a glass saying 'cheers!'

Lalliella · 06/01/2021 14:38

Oh and by the way 2 of my cousins died from alcohol abuse and I still think it’s amusing and not offensive.

Tereo · 06/01/2021 14:42

I get that kind of anxiety too! It's horrible! When you're in the middle of it's very hard to see reality for what it is. It's like extreme self consciousness or something. I find it strange as I really don't really care what people think of me... but yet I get tied up in knots over saying v inoffensive things to groups of people either in person or on social media.
Picture would make me smile too. We need the jokes at the moment.
Take care

@FuckeryOmbudsman

Opening post TL:DR "I feel bad about posting this, so I'll post it here too where even more people will read it"

Then including a meme that's 8 or more months old.

Yes, I think YABalittleU

Really? 😂 how is she being unreasonable? Because she posted something on MN asking for opinions on whether it's offensive and it therefore might offend people on MN as well as her what's app group chat?

Are you offended by the meme?

HyggeHeart · 06/01/2021 14:54

YABU, I saw that meme in a different form and it made me laugh, sometimes we need to laugh of the circumstances we are in it doesn't mean we are dismissing the seriousness of it all.

Heartbeat3 · 06/01/2021 14:54

Over thinking it, it's funny Smile

FuckeryOmbudsman · 06/01/2021 14:55

Not remotely offended, and when I saw similar back in April is was slightly amusing.

It's unreasonable to compound what you believe is an error.

In this case by posting again (to an even wider audience) something you thought you should not have posted in the first place.

wildraisins · 06/01/2021 14:56

You are overthinking and I'm sure no one thought it was a big deal. However, it seems to have really bothered you so maybe just don't post things like that on WhatsApp in future, for the sake of your own worrying I mean! :)

ChesterDraws4Sale · 06/01/2021 15:21

It’s funny. I’m sure everyone would take it in the spirit it is meant.

awwkkwwaard · 06/01/2021 15:23

It was a joke - for a start no one aged a maximum of 36 would be anywhere near running the country - and if they are we are COMPLETELY screwed...

Echobelly · 06/01/2021 15:28

YANBU to send it, YABU to worry about it. In most Whatsapp groups someone will usually tell you if they think something's not on!

Taylrse · 06/01/2021 15:28

I found it amusing.
I understand though! I was in a WhatsApp group for a course I attended, the anxiety was awful!
So glad I've finished and have left the group Grin

Verrucapepper · 06/01/2021 15:35

It’s a bit funny.

Lucieintheskye · 06/01/2021 15:40

Completely inoffensive, many people will have seen this on other Social media and if they don't like it, will just continue to scroll. No harm done, OP!

PuppyMonkey · 06/01/2021 15:44

Surely everybody saw this already anyway? It was doing the rounds way back in the first lockdown.

SooWoo56 · 06/01/2021 15:53

Take no notice, 2days kids will be fine. They've just had education interrupted, not cancelled.

Labobo · 06/01/2021 16:12

It's funny! There's an element of truth in it but mainly, it's funny because it's a massive exaggeration. Don't worry about it.

ivykaty44 · 06/01/2021 16:18

its supposed to be funny, don't overthink it

jessstan1 · 06/01/2021 16:19

I forgot it was you who posted it! However I see you just copied it from somewhere and thought it might amuse, not to be taken seriously. I sincerely hope nobody does take it seriously. However just forget it now, everyone else will have done so by tomorrow.
thepeopleversuswork · 06/01/2021 16:24

In the gentlest possible way you are massively overthinking this.

I get a dozen messages like this a day via WhatsApp. (And I have been sent this particular one at least twice). At best they are a joy: at absolute worst they are mildly irritating.

No one will be offended by this.

S111n20 · 06/01/2021 16:32

It made me laugh. I wouldn’t worry about it.

HeyMister · 06/01/2021 16:34

It is funny. All the Mums in my WhatsApp class group talk of drinking constantly.

LowlandLucky · 06/01/2021 16:34

Why are you worried about this ? Personality is still allowed
