Feeling stupid for posting this on WhatsApp but can’t retract it

I rarely use any kind of chat as always wary of saying the wrong thing or upsetting anyone. I have really bad anxiety to put it into context. Anyway yesterday I was on a WhatsApp chat for parents at my sons school. I posted the attached to the chat as someone had posted to me. It made me smile so forwarded. Now I wished I hadn’t as I don’t usually do this and maybe other people will take offence. I feel like people may think I’m make light of a terrible situation and it’s a bit poor taste.

Don't worry about it, I think it's fine. We have lots of similar things on our parents WhatsApp.

InTheLongGrass · 06/01/2021 13:20

@notanothertakeaway

If you select that post on WhatsApp and swipe right, then it'll delete the post

But I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen that post already and didn't think it was offensive

You can only delete from other peoples phones for an hour after posting. So if it was put on yesterday, it cant be deleted from the chat (although you can get rid from your phone).
SameToo · 06/01/2021 13:21

I tend to just skim past the memes anyway so wouldn’t have registered 🤷‍♀️

ElfAndSafetyInspector · 06/01/2021 13:21

I think it's funny and would laugh if someone put it on our class WhatsApp (although nobody would, they're terribly po faced)

I'd have the same anxiety if I'd posted it though, wondering if they thought I was unsubtly accusing them all of alcoholism!

LudoTrouble · 06/01/2021 13:24

This is fine, it's not offensive.

WhatsApp makes me anxious sometimes and when it does, I turn off all notifications and hide the app in a folder and try not to think about it for a day or so. You'll most likely feel okay soon and wonder why you were so worried about it.

2bazookas · 06/01/2021 13:25

Just remember, the Queen was homeschooled . She's grown up into an intelligent well informed responsible adult who can hold down a fulltime job.

catnoir1 · 06/01/2021 13:26

It's funny op, don't worry about it.

Scbchl · 06/01/2021 13:28

It's quite amusing so dont worry.

vintageyoda · 06/01/2021 13:29

Chalk it up to anxiety, OP. It's funny, you'd have to be a proper nightmare to choose to take offence to that.

YoniAndGuy · 06/01/2021 13:30

It's really fine! It's mildly funny, on a par with posting a stressed face next to a few glasses of wine at the thought of homeschooling... Nobody will take offence.

Iknowwhatudidlastsummer · 06/01/2021 13:31

It's just cringey because it's an old one that has been around a lot.

Apart from that you are fine. People can get offended by the recipe of an apple pie these days, so who cares.

Terracottasaur · 06/01/2021 13:31

You’re overthinking it - that wouldn’t offend me at all, I would find it amusing

Iknowwhatudidlastsummer · 06/01/2021 13:32

Confused

If it's supposed to be funny, I don't get the joke.
No one in their right mind would seriously say that, would they?

ElfIsAnAss · 06/01/2021 13:33

I think it's funny and posted it on my fb when it was doing the rounds in the first lockdown!

Tianatiers · 06/01/2021 13:33

If it helps you feel better, someone in our class what's app posted that too and I found it amusing, thought nothing more of it. You're definitely over thinking it but I am often the same so know how you feel. I doubt anyone would be offended by that or think you're making light of the situation, it's important to keep a sense of humour.

UntamedWisteria · 06/01/2021 13:35

I thought it was quite funny, and I am not usually a fan of memes.

MillieVanilla · 06/01/2021 13:36

I'd find it funny

I'm quite happily part of the British dark sense of humour though where we find humour even in the most crap situations though. If you don't laugh you'd cry in my opinion.

But I do sympathize op, I fell foul of upsetting someone completely unintentionally and was shocked at who it was. I shared a Men Behaving Dadly post about buying Whitty a Bluetooth clicker so he can take back control of the slides at the briefings. It made me laugh so I posted it. Only for one of DPs family to have a huge sense of humour bypass and get really angry about people wasting time slagging the government and maybe I would do a better job. If it hadn't of been a member of DPs family I would have pointed out the Downing Street could do a better job but I said something nicer.
You can't please everyone, don't worry about it.

Namechangeme87 · 06/01/2021 13:36

It’s your anxiety making you overthink. Iv seen that meme everywhere

You want to see the stuff I send 😂

Relax!

paulstearne · 06/01/2021 13:36

Anyone offended by that needs to get a grip.

You're over thinking this.

Mouldiwarp1 · 06/01/2021 13:37

Someone sent that to me and it made me chuckle. It’s fine op.

WeAllHaveWings · 06/01/2021 13:38

someone posted that on my fb, I smirked and moved on, cant even remember who posted it

you are overthinking it

Demitri · 06/01/2021 13:38

Don’t worry, we’ve had similar on our group chat and, even though I didn’t reply, I found it funny. Don’t give it another thought

Housing101 · 06/01/2021 13:39

Meh, it's fine.
Much, much worse gets posted on my DC's class watsapp. This would go unnoticed tbh.

Wellpark · 06/01/2021 13:40

In the nicest possible way, get a grip 😁 it's amusing and anyone who is offended is overthinking it

MoreLikeThis · 06/01/2021 13:41

I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m find most memes posted o group chats aren’t that funny but that ones not too bad. I find a lot of people post memes that have been doing the rounds for ages (comparatively speaking). They are boring rather than annoying.

I’ve seen that meme posted a lot over the last few days.
