Feeling stupid for posting this on WhatsApp but can’t retract it

I rarely use any kind of chat as always wary of saying the wrong thing or upsetting anyone. I have really bad anxiety to put it into context. Anyway yesterday I was on a WhatsApp chat for parents at my sons school. I posted the attached to the chat as someone had posted to me. It made me smile so forwarded. Now I wished I hadn’t as I don’t usually do this and maybe other people will take offence. I feel like people may think I’m make light of a terrible situation and it’s a bit poor taste.

I saw another one making the rounds.

Home schooling day 1:
If you see my children locked outside today, mind your own business-we are having a fire drill.

I don't have school aged kids but I still find them amusing.

nauticant · 06/01/2021 13:43

It's amusing. Maybe some people will go out of their way to be offended but that would be their problem and not yours OP.

BubblyBarbara · 06/01/2021 13:43

I'm not sure what's so funny about mocking people suffering from alcoholism but you do you

ShrikeAttack · 06/01/2021 13:44

It's fine, I found it quite amusing and would not have been bothered by it in the slightest.

Hooe you're feeling better OP.

FuckeryOmbudsman · 06/01/2021 13:44

Opening post TL:DR "I feel bad about posting this, so I'll post it here too where even more people will read it"

Then including a meme that's 8 or more months old.

Yes, I think YABalittleU

cheesebubble · 06/01/2021 13:45

You're overthinking mama! Relax 💗

Wnikat · 06/01/2021 13:46

You're fine, cross it off your worry list

Fandaddydoozie · 06/01/2021 13:46

That's hilarious OP!! That has made me laugh. Am off to share it on our parents WhatsApp page.

KatieJaneGreen · 06/01/2021 13:47

Have seen it before. It's fine, don't be worrying about it.

YouokHun · 06/01/2021 13:48

If it’s any consolation @Notagoodtime I shared this during the first Lockdown on a parents’ WhatsApp and everyone is still talking to me.

It’s your anxiety talking. There are different thinking styles which really don’t help us and one is mind reading, trying to second guess what others think of us and trying to behave in a way to try and control or influence others’ thinking but monitoring others’ reactions and assuming they have more relevance to our conduct than they do. It’s not offensive (your meme I mean, mine probably is) so try to let it go.

Witchend · 06/01/2021 13:48

I must have seen that or an equivalent one over a dozen times, first one I saw was in the first lockdown. It mildly amuses me, but I wouldn't comment.

growinggreyer · 06/01/2021 13:49

As long as you followed it up with a string of emojis and xxxs it will be fine. Grin Blush Wink xxx

Nunoftheother · 06/01/2021 13:49

Funnily enough I saw this recently and I did wonder whether it might be offensive to some people. (Although I didn't think it was amusing enough to be worth forwarding anyway.)

NataliaOsipova · 06/01/2021 13:50

It’s fine. Nothing to worry about.

Prisonbreak · 06/01/2021 13:51

20 years ago I was raised by an alcoholic and I’m not offended. It’s funny and it’s fine

goldielockdown2 · 06/01/2021 13:51

I don't think it's funny. Id think it was really out of context unless you or someone in the group are known alcoholic(s). In which case it would be offensive. Tbh I don't think joking about alcoholism is ever funny but clearly some do so I'm sure your meme went down either well, or just raised an eyebrow briefly.

DGRossetti · 06/01/2021 13:51

I don't see how things can be any worse than now when we are run by the most expensively educated cabinet in world history.

Apileofballyhoo · 06/01/2021 13:52

YWNBU to post it and YABU to worry.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 06/01/2021 13:52

It is funny. Maybe those who took offense on whatsapp see themselves in the message and need to put the wine away.

bloodyhairy · 06/01/2021 13:53

This one has been doing the rounds, and is nothing new or offensive.
So please don't worry! SmileThanks

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 06/01/2021 13:53

I think its funny. Its the British way. If you can't beat it, take the piss out of it.

Rachierach11 · 06/01/2021 13:54

I've been sent that on 3 different WhatsApp chats including the class one. It's funny! Relax

Branleuse · 06/01/2021 13:56

its funny. dont overthink it

EnolanotAlone · 06/01/2021 13:57

No harm in this one .. there are more serious offenders out there.... no harm. If people get sensitive it’s hit a nerve and they need to take stock and cut back the booze.

Sunshineandflipflops · 06/01/2021 13:58

My partner is a recovering alcoholic and I or he are not offended by that.
