Just listening to her statement to the Scottish Parliament. I don’t want to debate her wider politics or the question of Scottish independence because that’s for the Scots to decide.
I’m just so impressed by her leadership and how clear and concise she is. There’s no waffle, no bluster. She’s just said Scotland is 4wks behind London so the time to act is now before they’re in the same position.

Her manner is just so factual and informative and if I was Scottish or lived in Scotland whether I agreed with her SNP politics or not, I’d be very glad she was my FM. She makes BJ look like an uneducated idiot who is neither responsible nor has the balls to take decisions before the effects are smacking him on the face.

If you think for one second that she would be like this if she was in charge then you are deluded. It's easy to say things when you don't have to follow them through.

She wouldn't be constantly shutting down Scotland if she didn't have the money from Westminster backing her up that's for sure

ikswobel · 04/01/2021 19:10

@CakeRequired if they have voted Lib Dem since the 1950s they obviously don't like anyone else!!!!
However I'm pretty sure the SNP vote share increased massively in Orkney last year.

Veronica12345 · 04/01/2021 19:28

Easy for her to sound statesmanlike and decisive as whatever happens economically they will get bailed out. All the people saying how dreadful UK government is forgets all the balls up in the air to take account of. No world government has got it right apart from China and just think of the yelping we have now when people feel their rights are being compromised.

MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2021 19:30

The hardest decisions are economy v healthcare

And people in the sidelines who only focus on case numbers have much easier decisions on reducing them

Littleideasbigbook · 04/01/2021 19:31

I wish Rory Stewart was Prime Minister. And I fucking hate Tories.

GreenlandTheMovie · 04/01/2021 19:32

@CakeRequired" the islands " do not want rid of her. Eileen Siar return SNP Politicians, as do the Highland islands and Argyll.

Conveniently missing out the biggest and richest islands which used to be part of Scandinavia, have never voted SNP and have no history of speaking Gaelic.

Ginger1982 · 04/01/2021 19:38

HRTFT but in comparison to all the back and forth BJ has done with English schools today with parents having no clue what is happening, NS has done a better job. We knew before Christmas that our schools would be closed and again today a clear message closing them further.

ikswobel · 04/01/2021 19:39

@GreenlandTheMovie actually Eilean Siar and most of the west coast down to Largs belonged to Norway for most of the same time Orkney and Shetland did.
The whole of Scotland had Gaelic as a language at one point, in some form. It was the language of the Lords of the Isles so needed to be understood across the country. Having one main language is not essential to being a country - eg Belgium, India.
If you think Orkney and Shetland are the richest parts of Scotland you are much mistaken.

Rae34 · 04/01/2021 19:39

Don't blame you. She is wonderful Grin

Lol at the PP comparing her to Nigel Farage. She is genuinely compassionate which shows in her speeches.

durgha · 04/01/2021 19:50

Littleposh and Veronica. Scotland doesn't get bailed out in the way you suggest. Money is borrowed by Westminster and we all pay back. You do understand that, don't you?

ShetlandWife · 04/01/2021 20:27

You go and tell Shetland and Orkney that then who have voted lib dem since the 50s. They hate her

News to me.

Even my mum, who has no time for SNP, is really impressed with her.

Sure, some people hate her. But I don't know anyone that wants Shetland to 'leave Scotland'. Well other than Stuart Hill, but he's a fecking idiot who got washed up here a few years ago. Don't believe everything you read in the papers.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 04/01/2021 20:34

Considering the Lib Dem party was set up in the late 80s...

Littleposh · 04/01/2021 20:36

@durgha not all is borrowed and to be paid back, billions is given in extra revenue in a normal year, it's considerably more in the past 12 months as well

durgha · 04/01/2021 20:45

Little posh. I'm not sure l'm following your reasoning. Are you claiming that Westminster is giving Scotland a free bung? Free money that we never have to pay back, on top of free money we usually receive😀😀😀😜?

ssd · 04/01/2021 20:50

Yes we get free money all day long, that's why we have free universities up here and free prescriptions, its nothing to do with how the Scottish government decides to prioritise their money, its cos it's free and just sloshing around waiting to be fostered away

ssd · 04/01/2021 20:51

Frittered not fostered Grin

stonebrambleboy · 04/01/2021 20:51

The amount of air time Sturgeon gets on the BBC as opposed to Foster and Drakeford is absurd.

DemolitionBarbie · 04/01/2021 20:52

I just want someone with principles. I think Gordon Brown was the last PM with principles.

HowManyToes · 04/01/2021 20:54
@Calmandmeasured1, I thought she withdrew the whip from the SNP MP who travelled with Covid, did she not? She cannot legally fire her as an MP.
And publicly encouraged her to resign.

ShetlandWife · 04/01/2021 20:54

I agree.

durgha · 04/01/2021 21:01

Stonebrambleboy.
I also agree. Blame the BBC though.

durgha · 04/01/2021 21:04

Stonebrambleboy
I'm in England, mostly listening to radio 4. The devolved administrations barely exist here.

Fizzydrinks123 · 04/01/2021 21:04

Good God, no - absolutely not: have a look at how she runs the NHS and education for example.

More money per head on healthcare, but far longer waiting lists.

Littleposh · 04/01/2021 21:21

@durgha sorry I have confused you. The bottom line is that Scotland receives billions more from Westminster than it gives in taxes. These billions are not repaid.

This past year, Scotland has received even more billions which is what allows Sturgeon to lockdown whenever she fancies it

Puppamumma · 04/01/2021 21:21

She is clear and concise in her messages regarding covid restrictions yet our neighbours daughter has her boyfriend staying over yet again .They have constantly ignored the bubble rules so she is fighting a losing battle with people who just don't care
