Just listening to her statement to the Scottish Parliament. I don’t want to debate her wider politics or the question of Scottish independence because that’s for the Scots to decide.
I’m just so impressed by her leadership and how clear and concise she is. There’s no waffle, no bluster. She’s just said Scotland is 4wks behind London so the time to act is now before they’re in the same position.

Her manner is just so factual and informative and if I was Scottish or lived in Scotland whether I agreed with her SNP politics or not, I’d be very glad she was my FM. She makes BJ look like an uneducated idiot who is neither responsible nor has the balls to take decisions before the effects are smacking him on the face.

That should have said "a Londoner born and bred who married into a Scots family"!

NellyJames · 04/01/2021 18:12

@bp300, that was a misquote and the poster who incorrectly quoted me has apologised. Just to be clear once more, I think the constant reference to how Nicola Sturgeon looks is nothing short of misogyny.

She's been superb throughout the whole pandemic. It's a shit job but she's done her best. There's no fluffing just straight talking. As a resident Scot, I voted for her. Didn't bloody vote for BJ.

PetertheWalrus · 04/01/2021 18:15

@YoniAndGuy

Anybody who wanted to go from (say) Lerwick to Kelso could do it easily in a day via Loganair and a couple of taxis (not cheap, but you could do it).

Don't namedrop to make you look like you know Scotland - it's clear you don't!

I freely admit that I have never lived in Scotland. However, I have been to every major town and city (Aberdeen excepted) on business and for over 10 years I worked for a Scots registered company based in Glasgow. I suspect (by which I mean I know) that I know Scotland a great deal better than most Englishmen.
YoniAndGuy · 04/01/2021 18:16

@PetertheWalrus

That should have said "a Londoner born and bred who married into a Scots family"!
And you still seem to know the sum total of nothing and aren't short of the arrogance to parade it. Do go away.
CakeRequired · 04/01/2021 18:18

The islands don't even want to be part of Scotland anymore, purely because of her. Her own country doesn't want to stay together because of her.

ttigerlilly · 04/01/2021 18:18

I totally agree

YoniAndGuy · 04/01/2021 18:19

Um, no. Why would you? So you've visited Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth etc. a few times and worked for 'a company based in Glasgow'? I don't see how that would give you much insight, no. It's what living somewhere does. I've been to Manchester more times than I can remember but I've never lived there, I wouldn't therefore say I know what living there feels like. What you have is arrogance. It's a common affliction Grin
@Calmandmeasured1, I thought she withdrew the whip from the SNP MP who travelled with Covid, did she not? She cannot legally fire her as an MP.
Only after realising that the incident couldn't be hushed up.

Witchlight · 04/01/2021 18:23

Do I want her for pm - absolutely not! She is very, very competent and it shows. However, she has crap policies - really bad ones that she would push through (and not listen to anybody outside her bubble)

Do I think she is doing a much better job than BJ - absolutely. But, it is such a low bar.......

The uk needs a professional, non-egotistical, grown up, sensible person. A pandemic is not the time to push for party beliefs, but to sort out the crisis.

TaraRhu · 04/01/2021 18:31

@sst1234 are you saying being the first minister of a small country is a Mickey Mouse job? Would you say the same for the leaders of Denmark, Luxembourg, Ireland, Croatia etc? Council you do these jobs? Doubt it.

ikswobel · 04/01/2021 18:37

@CakeRequired" the islands " do not want rid of her. Eileen Siar return SNP Politicians, as do the Highland islands and Argyll.

Sexnotgender · 04/01/2021 18:44

She talks well... that’s about it really.

1dayatatime · 04/01/2021 18:51

Politicians want the the top job for one of two reasons:

 1. to implement their vision for the country- a vision which of course we can all agree or disagree with. Thatcher and Attlee were in this camp as is Sturgeon with her vision being Scottish independence. Or
 2. Pure ambition to get the top job simply because it is the top job - Boris is firmly in this camp.
Ishbam · 04/01/2021 18:52

Positives...she is eloquent

Someone said she is a positive role model for young girls....

For my daughter, a good role model would be honest, not living a lie, proud of her sexuality and wouldn’t bull shit in order to prevent the truth being known.

You need to ask why does she have a super injunction out so the press can’t report things. What’s she hiding?

CakeRequired · 04/01/2021 18:53

@ikswobel

You go and tell Shetland and Orkney that then who have voted lib dem since the 50s. They hate her. Grin

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/01/2021 18:54
@WaxOnFeckOff your posts say more about you and the people you know than about Nicolas ability as FM. She's a competent politician who shows real leadership. You sound really ignorant.
Oh. I appear to have a new member of my fan club Hmm. Actually can you quote exactly what i said that shows my "ignorance" ? I thought I was reasonably measured and didn't bring any of my personal dislike for her, the snp or independence into it, as per the OP.

Maybe you could give me some examples of her competency i her current role? I already said she was a consummate politician and can talk the talk. There is however nothing but a trail of disaster in her running of Scotland. But of course, a big boy did that and ran away....

MrsGrindah · 04/01/2021 18:56

I’m not convinced she’s not being entirely transparent about the whole Alex Salmond incident... so no she’s not PM for me

MrsGrindah · 04/01/2021 18:57

That should say “ not convinced she’s being entirely transparent”!

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/01/2021 18:57

People can't even agree why they dislike her.

And why would they need to?

Ishbam · 04/01/2021 18:57

I’m not convinced she’s not being entirely transparent about the whole Alex Salmond incident... so no she’s not PM for me

EXACTLY!

Bunnyrun5 · 04/01/2021 18:58

I’d move to Scotland if Nicola’s stayed in charge and it wasn’t so cold!
She says how it is, what decisions she making and why no bs.

RasberryRoyale · 04/01/2021 18:59

The SNP hide a lot from the media.

Mydogmylife · 04/01/2021 19:02

@lovelemoncurd

Nah. She belongs in her rightful place in The Crankies!
Gosh, how original
RoosterTheRoost · 04/01/2021 19:05

Being able to read your scripted lies in a clear and concise way does not make you a good leader
