@WomenAndVulvas

The feminist posters on here are a whining, intolerant, aggressive bunch with a massive chip on their shoulder and who believe all women should have exactly the same opinions as them, or you can't possibly be on the side of women.
Absolutely agree with you.

I absolutely love living in London and where I am managing to raise 5 children

I agree that IVF should not be funded by NHS.

I hate it when posters ask their husbands’ views on posts and then report back to us. Typically, ‘I just asked hubby and he said..’ who gives a fuck about what your DH thinks? As if his voice gives any more weight. KMT.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 03/01/2021 12:23

It's ok to have a baby at whatever age it happens for you.

Tattoos, big holes in earlobes and multiple piercings are hideous.

I don't need to know and don't care if you're gay, straight or bi. Just get on with it.

It's totally normal to feel a bit stressed or sad sometimes. You don't have anxiety and depression.

I can't stand dogs. When they die it isn't the same as losing a family member. We all know you'll go and get a new dog in a few weeks. I can't go and get a new dad when he dies.

Teachers are treated appallingly in this country.

Private education isn't better, pupils just make connections that open doors for them for life.

Sports day at school should be optional. If it's not ok to humiliate a student about their poor maths skills it's not ok to humiliate them about their sporting skills.

Red flag
Freedom programme
Ducks in rows
These are critical imperatives only on mn

RL No one really thinks or talks like that . It’s just people showing off on mn virtue signalling

VinylDetective · 03/01/2021 12:24

@Seasaltyhair

Don't pretend to be pro equality and social cohesion if you send your kids to private school

The last two Labour leaders both attended private school Confused

But did their children? They didn’t get to make choices about their own education.

@HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee

What’s a cool wife? As opposed to an uncool wife
It's an insult towards women who are not chronically unsecured and jealous and believe that their partner (and them too actually) can actually speak with another women/men (depends on sexuality) without having to shag them. Nor do we check emails and phones.

There was an amazing thread of a widow who had a male friend for tears and years. I think it was a childhood friend. After she was widowed friend's wife said it's not appropriate for them to meet up... "Cool wifes" were the ones saying that's bs and that her being widow doesn't mean they have to get into each other's pants. Very sad thread tbh.

That's literally the complete opposite of an unpopular opinion on Mumsnet.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 03/01/2021 12:27

English people are class obsessed, to the point of dysfunction
What spoon?use any fucking spoon
What school?who cares

Then I stand corrected. I don’t often see any objection to this.

Yup. From our experience percieved class even overides racism. Most of my non white friends noted difference in behaviour towards them when they got more expensive car and pricy jackets...
HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 03/01/2021 12:30

Thanks for clarification re cool wife.
Christ I’ve never checked emails,phones,fretted that he has female pals
If a man is a shagger he’ll do it irrespective of whether or not his partner is suspicious

Theunamedcat · 03/01/2021 12:31

People who deny the existence of male violence deserve all they get

Jiggling statistics to suit your narrative only works for a limited time and for truly stupid unquestioning people

The UK as a whole are dumbed down and never protest anything there could be a law passed that says unemployed people should ring bells and scream unclean unclean and all they would do is type furiously about it anonymously online while simultaneously polishing their bells

thetinselbadge · 03/01/2021 12:31

It's absolutely worse for a child to have long term poor/disrupted than it is to sleep train.

I don't rate Boris at all but I think managing Coronavirus is impossible and Labour couldn't have done any better.

Parent and child spaces are important.

Cosleeping is not a magic solution, there was ways to minimise risk but it is not safe if seperate sleep is possible.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 03/01/2021 12:32

People that whinge about "non essential" shops being open, whilst they order "non essential" items on line are hypocrites.

HmmSureJan · 03/01/2021 12:32

As an FYI, SEN and SN are not the same thing. SEN refers to Special Education Need(s) meaning a child has a learning need requiring additional support. SN refers to Special Needs, typically meaning a disability, long term illness, or medical condition. While there is often an overlap between the two it is possible to have SEN and no corresponding SN, and visa versa.

Thank you! One good thing though is when a poster uses the terms interchangeably you can be assured that they're completely ignorant around the subject so their views may safely be ignored entirely from the outset of the discussion.

thetinselbadge · 03/01/2021 12:32

VinylDetective · 03/01/2021 12:33

Class is nothing to do with money.

HmmSureJan · 03/01/2021 12:34

For example this nonsense:-

Not every picky eater has a serious underlying condition and they shouldn't always be pandered to (funny that they can always manage to eat chips ). It's different if they genuinely have SEN or Arfid (or both) but if you believe the forums here, every kid who prefers chips to veggies must have a deep seated psychological reason...

SEN has absolutely zero to do whether a child eats sprouts or not, thus we may roll our eyes and ignore this person entirely.

@UnderCaffeinated
Maybe if you need potty training advice you should start your own thread about. Then maybe I'll contribute.
This thread is about unpopular opinions not about your personal circumstances around potty training your child. Get over yourself.

Same here. Why be with someone you feel the need to do those things to and worry about? Sounds very stressful and life is too short for that.

thecatsthecats · 03/01/2021 12:35

It's an insult towards women who are not chronically unsecured and jealous and believe that their partner (and them too actually) can actually speak with another women/men (depends on sexuality) without having to shag them. Nor do we check emails and phones.

Well, it's also extended to:

  • women who happily engage in certain sexual practices
  • women who like male hobbies
  • women who take a man's side in any MN AIBU

... etc. See also handmaiden.

Because unless you fit the accusers exact opinions of femininity and feminism, you're just a penis loving apologist who's been conditioned to the male world and gaze.

(laughably untrue if you ever met my parents, and my husband loves me very much but knows I'm resoundingly "uncool wife" - the last thing I am is a people pleaser)

Silenceisgolden20 · 03/01/2021 12:35

@EwwwwDavid

#bekind is usually something that's said by people who are anything but kind themselves.
Yep.

You dont need to advertise you are kind as some sort of trend.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 03/01/2021 12:37

Class and money are inextricably interlinked in england. Money being used to buy the perceived trappings of being middle class eg
Schooling
Property
Multiple hobbies for yourself and the kids, inc matching joules wellies
Carole Middleton is seen as having done really well. Married her gerls off well, fancy house,private school

It speaks volumes you won't share your magical method to potty train children overnight once they turn 3. Surely you'd be able to share what people do wrong that makes them so lazy if that's how you view it. Of course you're entitled to your opinion, I'm just really really interested in how it came to be your opinion.

Cindy87 · 03/01/2021 12:42

Fireworks are fine, we all need to chill out a bit about other people following or not following Covid rules to the letter, it was perfectly acceptable to visit tourist hotspots in summer even if you don't live there THAT'S WHAT TOURIST MEANS, schools should be open, teachers are generally hard working (I am one), its ok to have a big wedding and... Shock... Get proposed to by a man!! You can even get married abroad, invite people AND accept gifts. Things that are also fine: going to a garden centre, having more than 2 children, going to Home Bargains, taking your child to a supermarket.
