Early pregnancy tests are a curse. 1 in 4 or so pregnancies end before 12 weeks, most in the early weeks. In particular testing before a missed period is just setting yourself up for heartache.

Absolutely agree!
Ragwort · 03/01/2021 08:14

I don't like cats or dogs.

Big weddings are over rated, ridiculously expensive and few people really enjoy attending them. hoping the wedding my DH has accepted an invitation to this year is cancelled.

Many women have children without really thinking about it, not choosing the father of their child carefully enough, not relying on 100% contraception ... and even go on to have more than one child with a useless dick of a DP - bit if you point this out you are accused of 'victim blaming'.

Care for what?
Apologies , wrong. Post

And breastfeeding is the best, I genuinely judge some mothers for their reasons to not breastfeed. Mainly selfish reasons.
Some of us don't care for breast feeding. I can live with others opinion of me.
FuckOffBorisYouTwat · 03/01/2021 08:19

That dogs should be able to run about off lead unless they are aggressive. Dogs have been living beside us for around 30,000 years and leads have only relatively recently been used.

Unalome · 03/01/2021 08:20

Natural term weaning is brilliant, and done with the best interests of the child at heart.

phoenixrosehere · 03/01/2021 08:26

You don’t have to RTFT

Agree, but you have to at least read most of the OP’s comments now that it is possible to so.

The amount of posters who don’t and repeat the same questions that have been asked gets annoying fast.

Hotcuppatea · 03/01/2021 08:27

Schools should be open next week. CEV teachers can shield, but the rest should be in work. CoVID is a mild disease for more than 99% of us and the teaching unions should stop playing politics.

AIMD · 03/01/2021 08:32

@HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee

Not everyone with odious behaviour is a narcissist. MN is full of armchair psychologists. They’ve Seen some CSI and they’re good to go. If the prevalence of narcissism was as reported on mn we’d be in the middle of a MH crisis

Your ex boyfriend being unsavoury doesnt equal narcissism. Nor does saying it make it so

Oh yes this is a god one. Everyone that had been referred to as a narcissist on her can’t possible be one, because it’d be every other person.

It’s becoming a stock phrase that is meaningless, just like ‘Karen’ and ‘snowflake’.

GirlsBlouse17 · 03/01/2021 08:35

No one could have done better or worse than the govt in dealing with the pandemic

If a dog off the lead jumps up on my kids I’m allowed to kick it.

I feel incredibly lucky to have been born in the UK as opposed to any other Country on this Earth.

@grassisjeweled

Overweight people are accountable for their health
I think you've mis understood. Almost everyone says that on mumsnet so it's not an unpopular mumsnet opinion.
newlabelwriter · 03/01/2021 08:46

Also that some people on here are fucking awful to their ILs. Granted some of the stories on here show there are some dreadful ones out there, but on the whole I find the vitriol towards some MIL for very minor things unbelievable.

Icenii · 03/01/2021 08:48

That we should align to celtic paganism without the personification of concepts into deities and teach it in schools. The 8 festivals should be celebrated and nature and the cycle of the year should be at the heart of what we do. This will connect us back to nature. Religion should be scrapped. The Bible was just the Harry Potter of its time.

Blended families can be better that traditional.

Scrap gender and stick with biology. You can't change your chromosomes.

Battered sausages are the food of the gods

fromthesamecloth · 03/01/2021 08:51

I like weddings and think many of the comments people have put on here about hating weddings have missed the mark because this thread was supposed to be about unpopular opinions and everyone on MN seems to hate weddings!

As I said, I like weddings and I actually think saying things like ‘the bride looks like a boiled sweet in cellophane’ like a PP is really, really rude Confused

Also - adults sometimes have to do things they don’t want to do because that’s just life. A lot of ‘no is a complete sentence OP, use it’ or ‘why are you even doing this OP? you don’t have to’ on Mumsnet when sometimes the OP actually should pick her DH’s GM up from hospital even though she’s already worked a 12 hour shift because ... that’s just life

Delatron · 03/01/2021 08:53

I agree with early pregnancy testing, especially before a missed period. In the past we just wouldn’t have known and it would save lots of heartbreak. It’s not a good thing.

That the majority of mumsnetters are off their heads and in need of psychiatric help.

MiddlesexGirl · 03/01/2021 08:54

Nurses and teachers aren't underpaid.
Consultants and politicians aren't overpaid.
The NHS needs to stop providing non-essential treatment.
All schools should be providing an hour of exercise a day.
It's not OK to be overweight. Fast food, sugary and fatty processed foods should all be taxed more.
Skincare regimes are a waste of time and money except for those with diagnosed skin conditions.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 03/01/2021 08:55

People can use any names / pronouns they want, dress in any clothes they want, wear lipstick if they want, use any toilets they want (as long as they respect other users). But puberty blockers for children are dangerous.

Trans women are men

I think you have mis understood the thread. This is not an unpopular mumsnet opinion as it is the dominant opinion on mumsnet.
GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 03/01/2021 08:59

Nurses and teachers are VASTLY underpaid...
But in the case of teachers especially you get what you pay for and without exception the NQT teachers I’ve seen (or my Dc have had have) been absolute shite. Very sweet but ill prepared, not that ‘on it’ and generally intellectually poor.
So - that’s harsh but my unfiltered opinion.
