Russell Group unis are only a big deal on mn.some of the RG are distinctly average
Agreed. I didn’t know what a Russell group uni was til I joined here and discovered I actually went to one!

Yes!
Claiming that your friend's aunt's neighbour ignored (insert medical / child safety / covid/ other specialist topic guidance here) and everything turned out ok is not substitute for academics and experts who have completed peer reviewed research on the topic.

@HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee

All these men who must travel for work. Actually no,he’s volunteered and he’s avoiding you and the kids. He likes pretending and acting that he’s a single man. He bigs up his significance, he is not indispensable, he just tells the sahp that he simply must work late, travel,attend a conference. Truth is he likes the freedom,the banter, acting to all intents & purpose like a single guy
I get controversial opinions, but this is just a weird thing to say. What about sailors? Travelling salesmen? astronauts? Roadies? Truckers?
freakyfairy · 03/01/2021 00:36

@ChestnutStuffing for some reason @HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee thinks you must only have these occupations if you are single 🤣🤣

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 03/01/2021 00:36

What about sailors? Travelling salesmen? astronauts? Roadies? Truckers?
⬆️ Lol You’ve just listed the cast of village people

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 03/01/2021 00:39

@freakyfairy, you do get the thread is not about you or your touchy sensibilities
I don’t need to justify or explain nor do you need to engage in handwringing and Whitabootery

Flipflopsaga · 03/01/2021 00:39
@Cheeeeislifenow Yes about the covid restrictions. I spent 3 years in a rural village in Bangladesh back in the late 70s, between the ages of 9 to 12. I had approx 1 year of home schooling in that time (not by my parents, an actual primary school teacher who was paid to teach me and my two brothers, because my parents gave up trying to do it after 2 hours). No friends, no hobbies, no television, no internet, no fucking nothing. All we could do was read and listen to the BBC World service.

Somehow I managed to survive and (eventually) ended up going to Oxford. I want to scream each time I hear this bollocks about how 'damaged' and 'illiterate' children will be.

Still better than being dead.
Totally agree. I do understand parents’ concerns but the child’s life needs to be considered first. This dreadful situation will not go on forever. Children will be educated again. We must not put them at risk for the sake of a few weeks/months, even a year. It terrifies me that children’s lives may be lost.

ChestnutStuffing · 03/01/2021 00:39

Wait, there was a salesman in the Village people?

Anyway, you seriously must be taking the piss on this travel for work thing.

blueshoes · 03/01/2021 00:39

Divorce damages children particularly if the parent(s) move on to new partners.

🤣🤣🤣 but also making a point that bands, orchestras, musicians, actors etc they all travel too...

Ameanstreakamilewide · 03/01/2021 00:40

@happybabyunit

Trans women are women and many of them are women to look up to!

Eating in front of the TV is fine!

How's that work then?
Guylan · 03/01/2021 00:40

A Corbyn govt would probably have managed CoVid pandemic better. Would have used local resources and not spent £22 billion outsourcing TTT to private companies.

strangestranger · 03/01/2021 00:40

@GuyFawkesDay

Teachers work bloody hard.
Amen to that.
Fuckingcrustybread · 03/01/2021 00:40

All drugs should be legalised, everything, cannabis, cocaine, heroin. The lot, Government should regulate the business model. The lack of regulation leads to adulteration of those drugs. If they were legalised then the criminal aspect would be removed. Great tax income as well.

agree. give people freedom for their own decisions abd they'll eventually make the right ones.
RedToothBrush · 03/01/2021 00:42

This ones a shocker: i hate cats.

Bleepertybleep · 03/01/2021 00:43

I have The Daily Mail App and look at it every day. It’s a load of bollocks news-wise but I enjoy it and the fury of the comments sections.

Until major companies throughout the world change then recycling our waste is a waste of time but makes people feel virtuous.

Bread sauce is delicious. Well mine and my SILs is anyhow.

I don’t mind friends and Family popping in (non COVID times).

No is absolutely not a complete sentence. It just sounds bloody ignorant by way of an answer to a request.

I like fleecy tops.

Being lazy isn’t a crime.

Watching tv is ok for kids. There are some excellent programmes.

Fairy lights and twiggy things are perfectly valid home accessories and look cosy.

Most people are good and not out to make your life unpleasant or difficult.

The fruit and veg at Aldi and Lidl are usually tasteless and shit. Well at the ones near me anyhow.

It’s not acceptable or reasonable to wear earplugs because you have noisy neighbours.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 03/01/2021 00:43

I hate cats too. Furry coughing bastards

freakyfairy · 03/01/2021 00:43

@HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffe you must live a very small, insular life to think that no one NEEDS to travel for work. I'm just trying to expand your mind...but ok Hmm

EwwwwDavid · 03/01/2021 00:44

Well I went to pour another wine then came back to this thread and noticed it had taken a weirdo 'village people' turn 😂

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 03/01/2021 00:44

More whitabootery @freakyfairy
You must be feelin v touchy to keep,protesting and trying to change my mind

EwwwwDavid · 03/01/2021 00:45

@RedToothBrush I hate cats too! 🤢
