OMG I'm 11 stone

Heaviest I've ever been.

This year has been tough, iui, then ivf, then a traumatic miscarriage and then the drinking and eating that comes with Christmas etc.

Really need to get it sorted! Very unhappy at this weight

OP posts:
MrsMiaWallis · 02/01/2021 11:51

Hepatitis might do it purpledaisies

I found low carbing utterly miserable. It did work though.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 11:51

There isn’t one hepatitis way to lost weight. It’s finding what works for your lifestyle.
I am sure you would lose a lot with that😂

Somethingkindaoooo · 02/01/2021 11:51

@Shitonthebloodything

I'm under 5ft and at guessing over 14st. That's around 6st overweight for my height. I'm a size 16. Hardly in need of a crane to get out of the house.

Fuck it. Not the end of the world is it?!

I'll deal with it when I'm ready and the world isn't falling apart. Give yourself a break there's more to life than the size of your arse.

My absolute pet peeve is people coming on and correcting the spelling and grammar of other posters.

But it’s lose! Lose weight and losing weight! You don’t loose weight and you haven’t been loosing weight. Lose.

Ok thanks that felt better

WanderingHopefully · 02/01/2021 11:52

Only on MN would admitting to being overweight be considered a stealth brag. The OP is unhappy with her weight and wants to change things. There's really no need for the Hmm

tisonlymeagain · 02/01/2021 11:52

At 11 stone I was classed as 'obese'. Not overweight, clinically obese. Just because someone else is 13 stone or 15 stone - it didn't make me any less obese, or more healthy so it's ridiculous to try and compare.

Good luck OP, it's hard to find the motivation and willpower some days but take it steady and slowly, even just small changes and it will start to come off.

MsTSwift · 02/01/2021 11:53

Totally agree all breakfast does is make you hungry! How did I not learn this until I was 45?!

If I eat nothing I can easily last til 12 or even 1. Any breakfast even just some toast I am ravenous by 11. Do you know who coined “breakfast is the most important meal of the day “? American breakfast cereal manufacturers!

pinkpetal2 · 02/01/2021 11:54

@PurpleDaisies God knows what I was looking at then, but that still seems so small for me.

ginghamtablecloths · 02/01/2021 11:55

Well, don't despair, thecutback I was overweight, I don't know how it happened, it just crept up on me over time. Too much food and too little exercise, I expect.

I got down to my target weight just before Christmas and the last few pounds were very stubborn and took ages to shift. Portion control is the way plus iron will power. If you find progress is too slow I repeat, don't despair.

Put less food on your plate for every meal. Don't snack between meals. What's your downfall? Don't keep it in the house so it doesn't tempt you. If you're asked, "is that enough?" say yes. "Are you sure?" Yes again. Be firm. If you fall back on an old habit just treat it as a blip and make up for it next time.

If I can do it you can do it. Good luck OP.

That's what I do. If I eat breakfast and I am gnawing my own arm off by 10.30am. I try to get to lunchtime now before filling up on soup!
SosYourFace · 02/01/2021 11:56

It sounds like you’ve been through a lot this year op so go easy on yourself. I’m about half a stone over the weight I usually like to be which doesn’t sound much but have already noticed that my face looked rounder and my clothes don't fit as nicely - I have no excuse except for lots less movement this year and too much eating and lying around over Christmas. Easily sorted once we’re ready.

ImnotCarolineHirons · 02/01/2021 11:57

@pinkpetal2 I'm also 5'7 and the nhs calculator says I can be between 8 stone 6 and 11 stone 5 for a normal BMI before into the overweight calculator. I'm female 50's.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 02/01/2021 11:58

I was 11 stone something pre covid. I gave up social smoking 2 years ago and the weight slowly crept on plus aging 40 hasn't helped. I'm more upset that my tummy and arms are now flabby where before they always remained toned despite weight gain every where else. I dread to think what my weight is now 😭

alltheadrenalin · 02/01/2021 11:59

I don't think there was anything wrong with what you've said. We all have different weight set points. I'm 13stone 3 at the minute and completely mortified with myself. I'd like to get down to 12.5 by end of feb and long term goal is 11.5 stone that might be a lot to other people but I don't care their body their business.

ChippyChickenChips · 02/01/2021 11:59

Good grief, is everyone really saying don't worry about being overweight because others are worse ?

I didn't read it like that. I think it's that the post is quite insensitive to people who weigh more than that. I've just got down to 11st. To have someone declare being horrified at it is a bit deflating. If you'll pardon the pun.

Nishky · 02/01/2021 11:59

@HugeAckmansWife - just read your post re weight training at home- did you follow a particular routine?

DamnShesaSexyChick · 02/01/2021 12:00

11st is too heavy for most women, I’m 5’7 and I’d be really unhappy with being that weight.

MrDarcysMa · 02/01/2021 12:01

How tall are you op? Do you look 'fat'? X

  1. Yes they are saying that.
  1. Nowhere did OP express "horror" or imply that 11 stone was gross or disgusting. If people are interpreting it like that, that is entirely their own lens. Again, I would ask- if someone is 28 stone and doesnt like it, is that "insensitive" to someone who is 30 stone? There is a really nasty tone from some people in this thread and its far worse than any perceived "fat shaming".

You have to really want to read the thread like that. I’d suggest this is your issue, not the op’s.
Etulosba · 02/01/2021 12:06

I am a member of another predominantly male forum. Nothing to do with weight loss or fitness. What a contrast.

OP: "I'm a fat fuck. I need to get in shape. Any ideas?"

Next post: "Round is a shape."

The rest of the thread consisted of posters agreeing that he was indeed a fat fuck together with helpful suggestions on what to do about it. There was plenty of empathy but nobody got upset because he actually weighed less than them.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 12:07

@Etulosba "round is a ashape" 😂😂😂😂
Men do seem to look at it differently. They also seem to be able to say "mate, you lost weight, nice. Good job" to each other... Yes, I am bitter there😂

OvaHere · 02/01/2021 12:08

The way I look at it is that it's not about the specific numbers. If you are coming down in weight then it's an achievement so if you've lost a few stone to get to 11 then that's blooming fantastic and something to be proud of.

If like the OP (and me) you're going in the other direction then she's right to be concerned and to try and reverse it.

I do get your point but we shouldn't take other people's weight loss journeys and goals personally. As someone who has been procrastinating about it all year I'm impressed at all achievements.

feelingverylazytoday · 02/01/2021 12:08

@FrostyChocolateMilkshake

5ft 7 and 13 stone. Cheers for this thread OP. Hmm
WTF? Is everyone supposed to consult you first before they post about their own weight?
WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 02/01/2021 12:11

🙄yes she did, she said 'OMG. I'm 11 stone'

Implying it's a gross weight to be.

I don't blame her at all. When my weight was under 8 stone, I'd have thought 11 stone was massively overweight & gross too.

But I wouldn't have posted a thread title that said that, because it's just not nice.

However, she didn't mean to upset others & she's had a shit year, now compounded by realising she's put on a chunk of weight.

I don't blame her as she simply posted how SHE felt about HER weight, but I can understand why it has upset a lot of people.
