OMG I'm 11 stone

thecutback · 02/01/2021 09:18

Heaviest I've ever been.

This year has been tough, iui, then ivf, then a traumatic miscarriage and then the drinking and eating that comes with Christmas etc.

Really need to get it sorted! Very unhappy at this weight

OP posts:
Christmasfairy2020 · 02/01/2021 12:11

Know the feeling I'm 5ft6 and got on scales today at 10st 11 I was 10st beg on decShock

pinkpetal2 · 02/01/2021 12:12

@ImnotCarolineHirons How do you feel about that weight group I've never been 8stone but 11 stone was just to small you could see my rib cage a little and my face was so gaunt. I really didn't like it at all. I don't know what my happy medium is at all.

InsufferableLKIA · 02/01/2021 12:13

@thecutback thanks for posting this, I could’ve written a similar first post. So I guess I’m glad you did it first and demonstrated what a completely undeserved roasting is the result!!

Those who are being bitchy- shall we all come on your personal weight loss threads and make deliberately unhelpful and unkind comments?????

OP sorry to hear of your miscarriage. Good luck with the ivf and with the weight loss Flowers

PurpleDaisies · 02/01/2021 12:13

'OMG. I'm 11 stone'

Nothing about anyone else. This is about her.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 12:15

*yes she did, she said 'OMG. I'm 11 stone'

Implying it's a gross weight to be.*

Omg doesn't imply gross. You are projecting your own issues there.
Kind of like "the door were red, what did the author mean by that" thing.

zzizzer · 02/01/2021 12:16

Yeah there's a lot of weird projection going on here.

Thank you for the peace and love message MNHQ, a slight reminder of the Olden Days!

2. Nowhere did OP express "horror" or imply that 11 stone was gross or disgusting. If people are interpreting it like that, that is entirely their own lens

🙄yes she did, she said 'OMG. I'm 11 stone'

Implying it's a gross weight to be.

I don't blame her at all. When my weight was under 8 stone, I'd have thought 11 stone was massively overweight & gross too.

But I wouldn't have posted a thread title that said that, because it's just not nice.

However, she didn't mean to upset others & she's had a shit year, now compounded by realising she's put on a chunk of weight.

I don't blame her as she simply posted how SHE felt about HER weight, but I can understand why it has upset a lot of people.[/quote]
Rubbish. Utter rubbish.

That is YOUR interpretation of it, not hers so maybe you need to examine your own thoughts about weight.

Again- you havent answered my question- if someone who was 28 stone expressed sadness at their weight, is that offensive to someone who is 30 stone? and should they not be allowed to seek support from others to lose weight?

This is a prime example of the "suffering olympics" and noone should ever seek advice when this happens because you can ALWAYS find someone in a worse position than you so by this rationale, noone should ever seek support!

tinselearedcow · 02/01/2021 12:16

This thread is bonkers.

No-one wakes up suddenly weighing 15-20 stone. It creeps on over the years. OP is right to be concerned and to be wanting to put a stop to it now.

OP, I am 5 ft 2 and weigh 10 stone 2 at the moment. This is the heaviest I have ever been. I am overweight and I look overweight. I am doing something about it from Monday (want to enjoy what's left of Christmas first!).

kowari · 02/01/2021 12:17

The fat olympics on here is ridiculous. 11st is overweight for anyone over 5ft 5. Even if the OP was just at the upper end of healthy weight then she could still vent if she was unhappy with her weight. When will people get that it is about the OP, not themselves Hmm.

tisonlymeagain · 02/01/2021 12:17

OMG I HAVE A GREY HAIR

If I said that does it imply that I think that everyone with grey hair is gross? Or does it just imply that I am shocked at seeing my own grey hair?

ghostmous3 · 02/01/2021 12:18

It does depend in how tall you are.
I'm 5 foot 7 and 11.5 stone and I'm slimmish

Someone 5 foot and the same weight would be overweight by quite a lot I should imagine.

Labobo · 02/01/2021 12:18

@Nonamesavail - I wouldn't be surprised if it's the Sertraline. I was the same weight all my adult life, lost baby weight very quickly, then had to take ADs and put on 7lbs in 2 months. It kept creeping on until I was 2.5 stone heavier than my normal healthy weight. I think it messes with the thyroid. Lithium definitely does. A side effect of lithium is permanent weight gain for many people.

WanderingHopefully · 02/01/2021 12:18

I didn't read it like that. I think it's that the post is quite insensitive to people who weigh more than that. I've just got down to 11st. To have someone declare being horrified at it is a bit deflating. If you'll pardon the pun.

But your weight isn't the OP's concern. I really don't understand why, if the OP is overweight at 11 stones, she shouldn't say so for fear of upsetting others.

kowari · 02/01/2021 12:18

*5ft 5 or under I mean

AutumnVibes · 02/01/2021 12:18

I’ve also had frozen transfer rounds and a miscarriage this year and also discovered that I’m 11stone 4 this morning and was a stone less than that this time last year OP so I feel you. I’m also about to do IVF again at the end of the month and it does feel important both psychologically and physically to be in a good place with your body before that. It’s hard to keep looking after your body when it keeps not doing what you want it to.
But, I’ve started a food diary yesterday and am committing to more movement and thinking about getting a step aerobics step for the house. Lots of people manage much more impressive weight loss, so I’m hoping a stone is very doable. I hope you find something that works for you OP and that you feel in a brighter frame of mind before IVF. Fingers crossed for you, x

ButiLoveHim32 · 02/01/2021 12:19

I think it's that the post is quite insensitive to people who weigh more than that. I've just got down to 11st. To have someone declare being horrified at it is a bit deflating I honestly don't understand why? You are clearly someone who was unhappy with their weight and is in the process of losing it, just as the op is. Why would you not be supporting someone doing exactly as u are? You know fine well there will be people bigger than you and people that are smaller. I'm just under 5ft tall, I would be horrified to be 11stone but that doesn't change the fact that you are and have worked hard to get there. Why is that a shock? I've put on a stone this year, went up 2 dress sizes and am working hard to shift it as I don't like having a pregnant looking belly and double chin. I don't get annoyed or upset at friends who are thinner and fitter. This thread is almost like some weird competitive heaviest thread. Maybe this is why so many people are overweight. You just can't have a conversation about it and even someone who is over their healthy weight gets attacked for wanting to have a moan and do something about it.

Oh dfod. I have it even worse with white hair and you now made me feel shit by saying It's gross . Hope you are happyHmm
SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 12:20

😁

NatMoz · 02/01/2021 12:20

I'm a size 10 at 11 stone so actually I'm striving for that goal weight 😅. Currently 11st 12.

JasmineandIsaiah · 02/01/2021 12:20

I've always struggled with my weight, my entire life. I've gone from size 6 to size 16 (after giving birth) and my size has gone up and down between those sizes for the past 15 years. I'm 5'7 so have carried the overweight well and I actually look really ill when I'm less than a size 10! It was only when I stopped worrying about my 'fat' and started concentrating on my overall health that everything fell into place. I quit drinking 3 years ago and switched to a pescetarian diet and since then I've naturally become a very toned size 10. I don't do the gym, I find it boring but I do make sure I go on a hour walk with my son in the morning and an hour in the evening and that has completely toned everything up! I still binge eat doughnuts and pizza in the evening and I don't count calories AT ALL. I honestly think the fat content in meat and alcohol make it almost impossible to lose weight without going through starvation periods or eating meals that are that small they seem pointless....and that's no fun for anyone. Don't do that, don't starve yourself and feel crap about yourself, some of my happiest memories in life are from 'fat' times! But if it really is upsetting you just make a few small changes rather than going on a mad diet, you'll be much happier in the long run and the results will honestly stick :) and I know it's not appealing cutting out meat and alcohol all together but if you cut down it will help you immensely and you'll still get to eat pretty much what you want!

Good luck :)

thecutback · 02/01/2021 12:21

@NoIDontWatchLoveIsland

Shed a stone and you will feel mostly back to normal it's really not that bad.

Haven't you anything better to do than post about this on mumsnet?

Hmm

@SchrodingersImmigrant I apologise profusely...

*I most certainly have more than one grey hair Angry

ghostmous3 · 02/01/2021 12:21

11st is overweight for anyone over 5ft 5.
You mean under?
I've just put in my weight 11.5 stone, age 43 and female AND 5 foot 7 and I'm just bordering on the healthy weight to overweight.

thecutback · 02/01/2021 12:21

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants

I may regret biting, but 11 stone is well within my healthy BMI. These threads never go well. Might have been an idea, and a great deal more tactful, to put this is the Weight Loss topic OP Hmm
Sorry, didn't realise this wasn't tactful? Not sure much of AIBU is

Apology accepted. But hope you realise how insensitive you were😁
