OMG I'm 11 stone

thecutback · 02/01/2021 09:18

Heaviest I've ever been.

This year has been tough, iui, then ivf, then a traumatic miscarriage and then the drinking and eating that comes with Christmas etc.

Really need to get it sorted! Very unhappy at this weight

Why can't you do 16:8.? No rules about what time the 8 starts

Because I eat breakfast at 8 so would have to then not eat anything from 4pm, and as I cook for my family most nights at 6ish it just wouldn't work.

Labobo · 02/01/2021 11:24

Agree with @WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants that 16:8 can start at any time. If toast after feeding the horses is the best meal of the day, have it and the 8 hours start then. It just means very early evening meal and no snacking after that. I accidentally do 16:8 all the time as I'm not an evening snacker, we eat dinner fairly early in the evening, so by skipping breakfast if I'm not hungry, it ends up being 16:8 about 4-5 days a week. I didn't even know it was a thing until reading it on here. But it does seem to help, giving the body a few calm hours to process what's already in it before refuelling..

DressingGownofDoom · 02/01/2021 11:24

@JinglingHellsBells

This has turned partly into stealth boasts/jealousy, about how fat some posters are, trying to minimise the OP's weight.

How incredibly helpful.

Maybe less time sat at the keyboard and more effort moving around might be helpful?

What a lovely post. Warms the heart Smile
WorraLiberty · 02/01/2021 11:25

@Changi

What's wrong with people?

The OP weighs less than they do, and they don't like it.

Bang on the money there.

And I don't see why putting this thread in the weightloss topic would be considered 'tactful', as an OP suggested.

If the OP is overweight at 11 stone, then she's overweight. That's nothing to do with anyone else's weight that the OP can do nothing about.

WorraLiberty · 02/01/2021 11:26

PP not OP

SofiaMichelle · 02/01/2021 11:26
@thecutback -11 stone too. And 9 stone is also (was also!) my normal weight.

I gained 7lb of it very recently, after being pregnant and miscarrying at 8 weeks. I’ve not no idea how I put that much weight on in such a short space of time - I convinced myself it was “water weight” or something to do with my hormones... but it hasn’t gone Sad

So now I can’t fit into any of my clothes, as well as still grieving for that pregnancy, and am officially “over weight” based on my BMI, for the first time in my life. Currently eating chocolate after weighting myself as it feels like there is little point.

So, not the most motivating post; just wanted to let you know that I empathise Flowers
Oh bless you! Flowers

Give yourself some time and then think again about losing the weight, if you want to. There's no point worrying about it at the moment if you're not in the right frame of mind to tackle it just now.

Nonamesavail · 02/01/2021 11:27

Last year I was doing kettlebells 2x a week and a personal trainer 3x a week plus 20,000 steps. I also was doing 16:8 along side this. I managed to lose 10lbs then no more. I know people say its impossible but I was measuring too. My shape didn't change either. My pt said it can plateau and stick with it but I lost heart in it. Then KB class had shut and i have given up :( tested for thyroid issues and nothing. I take sertraline which is all I can think of

PurpleDaisies · 02/01/2021 11:27

Weight gain through unhappiness is doubly cruel. You’re sad because of what you’ve been through and you don’t look or feel like yourself. It’s rubbish-I’ve been where you are and it’s just rubbish. Flowers

I would focus on feeling healthy rather than necessarily the number on the scales. Loads of healthy meals-maybe try one new thing a week and do a five a day five days a week challenge. Loads of exercise. Getting out with music helps my mental state and weight too. Also sweaty jumping around punching things.

Really good luck for your next round of fertility treatment.

Danu2021 · 02/01/2021 11:27

There were a lot of bizarre posts on this thread @thecutback so well done for keeping positive! If I go over 9 and a half I panic, well, before I panic, I feel too fleshy. Nobody is going to tell me that that's wrong or foolish because they are heavier or shorter.

Fasting is great imo. You get to live normally sometimes. I find fasting so much easier, psychologically. I did a 36 hour fast yesterday (but I have a bit of almond milk in my tea/coffee. almond milk lower in carbs so less of an insulin response, so a broken fast I guess but not as 'broken' as it would be with cow's milk). I worked up to 36 hour fasts with 16:8 then 18:6 and then I just thought actually, I'll just hold on til breakfast tomorrow.

It is so much easier than a traditional every day diet.

I do exercise and exercise has many benefits but one of them is not weight loss.

Nanny2many · 02/01/2021 11:28

@tisonlymeagain for my stomach to be as flat as I’d like then the rest of me would likely be too skinny so it’s a balancing act!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 02/01/2021 11:29

And I don't see why putting this thread in the weightloss topic would be considered 'tactful', as an OP suggested.

Well, we'll just have to disagree then @WorraLiberty. Just because it doesn't offend you personally. Your opinion, or mine, is not the only one that matters. Hmm

HerMammy · 02/01/2021 11:29

Seems like being obese is something to be proud of now, 11 stone can be a big weight gain for someone and if she’s unhappy, well done on doing something to feel better.
Being very overweight is a major factor in a huge amounts of health problems; Covid included.
The people making sarky comments should have a look at themselves and why they seem to think at 15/20 stone they think they’re in any position to criticise and be nasty to anyone trying to improve their health.
A mum at 20 stone is hardly putting their child first are they?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 11:30

What a lovely post. Warms the heart smile
She ain't wrong though, if someone is that bitter about their weight...

Maybe less time sat at the keyboard and more effort moving around might be helpful?
Or it can be combined. I was commenting from my exercise bike😂 I made a stand I can put laptop/tablet on as well so I can do short burts while wfh (not actually burtsts so i don't spend all day sweaty, jist move, that's it)

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 02/01/2021 11:30

@NoIDontWatchLoveIsland

Shed a stone and you will feel mostly back to normal it's really not that bad.

Haven't you anything better to do than post about this on mumsnet?

Don't you?

These snarky comments are just nasty & really just show the poster for the absolute arse they are.

Flowerpot321 · 02/01/2021 11:30

Wow wish I was eleven stone, I'm fifteen stone after having my babies and trying to drop abit of weight.
Bit depressing that eleven stone is deemed a shocking weight to be

Well, skip breakfast. Do you need breakfast? Do you need it at 8?

The obsession with breakfast and it being the most important meal of the day is a massive massive con.

Wait til 9. Then when you get used to that, wait til 10.

I have the first meal of the day at 12.30 normally, an early lunch. Then I have an early dinner. So most days I'm eating two meals a day not three.

All breakfast does is make you hungry

Why does other people's weight offend you?

That's really odd.

Never has the saying 'You do you' been more appropriate here.

This is a silly post. Sorry you're struggling with your weight but do not shame the OP for wanting to get her weight back on track.
Chickenwing · 02/01/2021 11:32

Anyone who weighs more than this will be offended but it really only matters what you feel about yourself. I'm about 11 and a half stone and feeling rubbish about myself, but it has been a tough year and comfort eating got me through it.

A healthy diet and some exercise really does make you feel better, and the weight will come off.

MondeoFan · 02/01/2021 11:32

I'm about 11.5 stone and a size 16 as only 5ft 3
It's awful isn't it. I was a size 12 around 5 years ago and I was so happy about it. The weight has really crept on over the years but particularly this year as I didn't work for 6 months due to furlough.
I feel terrible that the whole time I was off work I should have really exercised and ate healthy foods.
I don't even eat that much but just the wrong things I guess

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 02/01/2021 11:32

5ft 7 and 13 stone. Cheers for this thread OP. Hmm

augustusglupe · 02/01/2021 11:32

thecutback I totally get it.
I'm 5' 9 and currently just under 10 stone.
I'm small boned and usually 9 stone is my ideal weight. I've put about half a stone on in the last 2 weeks and feel absolutely rubbish, it's all gone on my thighs and arse.
I know we're all different shapes and sizes and I'm not making out I have massive weight to shift, but I still feel fat for me and so totally empathise with OP

CarolVordermansBum · 02/01/2021 11:32

Agree. Maybe if the people weighing 15 plus stone made a conscious effort to loose weight when they first noticed they were putting it on ( like the OP here) they wouldn't be so overweight now.

Danu2021 · 02/01/2021 11:33

You cannot even say ''I want to be a healthy weight again'' as it offends some people.

WorraLiberty · 02/01/2021 11:33

@Flowerpot321

Wow wish I was eleven stone, I'm fifteen stone after having my babies and trying to drop abit of weight. Bit depressing that eleven stone is deemed a shocking weight to be
Why is it depressing?

It has shocked the OP personally because it's her personal weight Confused
