thecutback · 02/01/2021 09:18

Heaviest I've ever been.

This year has been tough, iui, then ivf, then a traumatic miscarriage and then the drinking and eating that comes with Christmas etc.

Really need to get it sorted! Very unhappy at this weight

God, I'm on sertraline... guess that's not helping

My experience of Sertraline (brief) is that it stimulates the appetite. I lost weight while on it but I had to be careful not to over eat.

Jenasaurus · 02/01/2021 12:48

11 Stone is my target weight to be honest, I have a couple to lose, but at 11 stone I am a size 12/14 and look the best (any slimmer and I look aged and wrinkly) I start on Monday :)

rainbowunicorn · 02/01/2021 12:49

@NoIDontWatchLoveIsland

Shed a stone and you will feel mostly back to normal it's really not that bad.

Haven't you anything better to do than post about this on mumsnet?

Don't be a complete dick. What a horrible thing to say to someone that is clearly struggling. Just plain nasty.
Joeblack066 · 02/01/2021 12:53

A better post would have been “OMG I’m the heaviest I have ever been”. As all you’ve done is upset a lot of people.
Surely that wasn’t your intention....... 🤷‍♀️

You can filter my posts and have a look for yourself.

Think I may flounce from here now and go over to weight loss chat!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 12:55

Fucking hell.
Op, go on the weightloss threads, people are less shitty there. Haven't seen anyone going after anyone for nit being morbidly obese there when moaning about their weight🙄. Lots of good info

HerMammy · 02/01/2021 12:55

@Joeblack066
Those who choose to be upset, well that’s up to them, why do we need to overthink everything?
Everyone has their own issues etc, if I was 20stone that would be no one else’s fault but mine.
Why is it we tippy toe round hugely overweight people but everyone else can be insulted or snarked at?
Instead of being sensitive get fit and healthy!!

No, she hasn't upset a lot of people.

A lot of people are being deliberately nasty and unkind and they INTEND it which is much worse than what the OP said.

Aren't they just? Some people on here ought to take a long look at themselves and maybe their mental health for 2021.

Cherrycee · 02/01/2021 12:59

I'm the same OP. Ignore the snippy posts on here, its natural to feel down when you've noticibly put on weight and your clothes no longer fit. It's about your own confidence and has nothing to do with anyone else or their weight.

My typical weight was just over 9 stone, I'm now 11 stone and I feel the same. A combination of a shit year where I lost my dad, my mum got cancer, lockdown and an antidepressant that's known for causing weight gain (mirtazapine).

Currently tapering off the antidepressant and hope to be off it completely in a few weeks. I'll also make a big effort to get more active and watch the diet. Fingers crossed.

Best of luck to you OP, I'm sure you'll get there.

PicaK · 02/01/2021 13:00

I get you. (And I'm 13st 7lb). Been where you are - ivf, miscarriage, drinking. It's shit. Truly shit. Flowers
Do the Michael Moseley 800 diet for 8 weeks. It forces self care weirdly enough cos there's a lot of food prep. And it works.
Get some counselling round the ivf because it really bloody helps I promise and is a much better spend of funds than booze. (benefits stay with you for life rather than pissing it down the loo)
Take care of yourself.

PurpleDaisies · 02/01/2021 13:00

As all you’ve done is upset a lot of people.

No she hasn’t.

A few people who are clearly sensitive about their own weight are upset but that’s their issue. Not hers.

randomer · 02/01/2021 13:01

None of the medics will tell you antidepressants contribute to weight gain but personally it did for me

PicaK · 02/01/2021 13:02

Oh and buy a few lovely outfits that truly fit your current shape. Don't dig in, don't make you feel crap. It makes you feel good and it helps. Then donate them to charity when they're too large - win win.

@TheLovleyChebbyMcGee

I'm about 20 stone. Does that make you feel better?Hmm
Depends on your height - if you are 5’ like me, then it might. If you are 5’10, then no not really. Can we just assume 11st is overweight for OP?

It is not a stealth brag to say you are overweight when you are, just because you aren’t morbidly obese (I have no idea whether the 20st pp is obese or not, but 11st easily could be if OP is short enough).

Rach000 · 02/01/2021 13:07

I am now just over 11 stone and not happy with my weight. I am short so I need to loose some weight. My clothes are getting too tight and I am more of a 14 now when I till recently I would have been a 10 to 12.
This year hasn't been good for my weight, it's been busy and stressful. Going to try eat better and drink less this year. I was about 10 stone before and that feels a lot better.
Good luck with the weight loss and ivf. I know 11 stone is not huge but it is a bit much for some people so understand.

Violinist64 · 02/01/2021 13:08

I would second relievedlady. I have found that intermittent fasting 16:8 seems to work for me, particularly on my tummy. If you are a breakfast lover it is probably not as easy but l find it easy to not eat before midday or slightly later. I often have a bowl of porridge at this time too, which is very filling. I was even able to tie it in with Christmas, although, like everyone else, l over indulged. I think it is a good idea to take action now while you are only slightly overweight but please be kind to yourself after the very difficult time you have had.

rainbowunicorn · 02/01/2021 13:08

@SecretRedhead

"Omg I'm 11 stone" shock horror!

This is Tuesday for lots of people. You'll live.

What a horrible thing to say.
froggywentacarolling · 02/01/2021 13:08

God the amount of policing and body shaming on this thread is insane.

If you feel so negative about your weight that you feel the need to attack any woman who's thinner than you, and act like anyone who's not morbidly obese isn't allowed to feel unhappy with their weight, maybe address the root cause and look inwards, rather than aiming your vitriol outwards?

Everyone's body is different. Everyone's ideal weight is different. What's healthy for one person is not healthy for another. I personally am fat at 9st, if I start to reach 9stone I notice my clothes stop fitting properly and that I struggle to get around. 8st to 8 1/2 stone is a normal healthy weight for my body. I have friends who are much taller and more muscular who'd be emaciated at 10st. Everyone's different.

Know your own healthy weight and don't compare yourself to anyone else.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 02/01/2021 13:09

At the height of my alcoholism many years ago, I drank four bottles of wine a day. If I had been on MN in those days and someone posted that they drank two bottles a day and felt disgusting because of it, my reaction would not have been "wait until you have a real problem and then complain about it". Some of these answers!!!

Good luck OP with losing the weight. There's great and supportive advice on all kinds of threads I lurk on. I hate being over 9 stone and wouldn't put that on AIBU 😀.

Ashleys63 · 02/01/2021 13:13

I'm 5,6 and 10st 4 but have a lot of fat around the middle ( I'm 57 ) so constantly battling this, as I know having a lot of fat around the stomach area in particular, is not great health wise. So what I'm saying is, you can be within normal limits, but still have fat to shift, so to speak,

all the best op.

Just want to say bloody well done for tackling that- that takes real courage and determination.

I really admire you - alcoholism is such an insidious disease.

HappyNewYear2021 · 02/01/2021 13:14

12.7 stone here.

It totally depends on your height/build etc..
