OMG I'm 11 stone

thecutback · 02/01/2021 09:18

Heaviest I've ever been.

This year has been tough, iui, then ivf, then a traumatic miscarriage and then the drinking and eating that comes with Christmas etc.

Really need to get it sorted! Very unhappy at this weight

@thecutback I empathise. I’m just over 10 and a half stone and nothing fits. I was 9 and a half stone a few months ago and honestly don’t know how it’s happened.
I know it’s not big but to me it is as I’ve never been so heavy, my stomach actually sticks out and I can’t do any of my trousers up.

Some of the responses on here are unfair. Just because some people are bigger or obese, doesn’t mean someone can’t be upset/ horrified at how much weight they’ve put on.

The ‘I’m 20 stone’ or ‘I’m happy to be 11 stone’ style comments are disingenuous as it’s obvious the OP isn’t criticising people bigger than her.

tisonlymeagain · 02/01/2021 12:23

@ghostmous3

11st is overweight for anyone over 5ft 5. You mean under? I've just put in my weight 11.5 stone, age 43 and female AND 5 foot 7 and I'm just bordering on the healthy weight to overweight.
Yes, the PP corrected themselves, they meant under. Which is correct.

I am 5ft 2 and have I have come down from 10st 7lb to 9st 12lb recently and I still look bloody massive.

(Disclaimer, I am NOT saying anyone else who is this weight is bloody massive, just that I am bloody massive because I am short with a small frame).

CanICelebrate · 02/01/2021 12:25

@thecutback
Posters know full well you weren’t being horrible about overweight people.
The responses are either completely disingenuous, bitter or deliberate attempts to make you feel guilty.
There was nothing wrong with your OP x

Lotsachocolateplease · 02/01/2021 12:25

Can’t believe all the grief the op is getting. This site should be for support and help and if people can’t find supportive and helpful things to say then they shouldn’t bother posting.
11st is 2st heavier than the op would ideally be. She’s had a shit year. Cut her some slack people.

CanICelebrate · 02/01/2021 12:28

@MrsMiaWallis
@TheLovleyChebbyMcGee

You know full well your posts won’t OP feel better. They are just unkind and deliberately missing OP’s point. She is bigger than she wants to be and is the biggest she has ever been. This has nothing whatsoever to do with how overweight you are and wasn’t a criticism of you.

thecutback · 02/01/2021 12:28

@inquietant

It is irrelevant and insensitive to put a number on it, as it is so personal - especially without giving height.

To have never been heavier and be unhappy, especially if now in the overweight or obese - that is understandable and worthy of discussion.

I apologise for putting a number.. as I said, I didn't mean to offend.

I was shocked at my own personal current weight compared to the weight at which I feel comfortable.

tisonlymeagain · 02/01/2021 12:30

OP @thecutback you did nothing wrong. You don't need to apologise to people - if they have insecurities about their own weight, then they probably shouldn't have opened the thread.

tinselearedcow · 02/01/2021 12:30

@JasmineandIsaiah

I've always struggled with my weight, my entire life. I've gone from size 6 to size 16 (after giving birth) and my size has gone up and down between those sizes for the past 15 years. I'm 5'7 so have carried the overweight well and I actually look really ill when I'm less than a size 10! It was only when I stopped worrying about my 'fat' and started concentrating on my overall health that everything fell into place. I quit drinking 3 years ago and switched to a pescetarian diet and since then I've naturally become a very toned size 10. I don't do the gym, I find it boring but I do make sure I go on a hour walk with my son in the morning and an hour in the evening and that has completely toned everything up! I still binge eat doughnuts and pizza in the evening and I don't count calories AT ALL. I honestly think the fat content in meat and alcohol make it almost impossible to lose weight without going through starvation periods or eating meals that are that small they seem pointless....and that's no fun for anyone. Don't do that, don't starve yourself and feel crap about yourself, some of my happiest memories in life are from 'fat' times! But if it really is upsetting you just make a few small changes rather than going on a mad diet, you'll be much happier in the long run and the results will honestly stick :) and I know it's not appealing cutting out meat and alcohol all together but if you cut down it will help you immensely and you'll still get to eat pretty much what you want!

Good luck :)

This is a really sensible post! I am going to try walking twice a day (gyms are shut here).

Yes, 5ft 5 or under. I added a * when I realised but the thread was moving fast.

I second thsi, and I am actually fat🤷🏻

MN is the worst place to discuss weight as shown by some of the aggressive responses.
thecutback · 02/01/2021 12:32

@MrDarcysMa

How tall are you op? Do you look 'fat'? X
5'4" and I look out of shape.

Doesn't help that I carry weight on my arms and chest!

(Not offending anyone who also carries weight there!)

OP posts:
inquietant · 02/01/2021 12:33

I don't think you need to worry about it too much, I just think it is more helpful to discuss yourself rather than the number iyswim.

I don't have insecurities myself.

The problem is everything is relative so the number distracts from what really matters - you're not happy at your current weight.

thecutback · 02/01/2021 12:34
@MimiLaRue
2. Nowhere did OP express "horror" or imply that 11 stone was gross or disgusting. If people are interpreting it like that, that is entirely their own lens

🙄yes she did, she said 'OMG. I'm 11 stone'

Implying it's a gross weight to be.

I don't blame her at all. When my weight was under 8 stone, I'd have thought 11 stone was massively overweight & gross too.

But I wouldn't have posted a thread title that said that, because it's just not nice.

However, she didn't mean to upset others & she's had a shit year, now compounded by realising she's put on a chunk of weight.

I don't blame her as she simply posted how SHE felt about HER weight, but I can understand why it has upset a lot of people.
I understand it now.. but it really wasn't my intention.

It's just heavy for me, and I've put it on quickly which is worrying.. for me!

OP posts:
Lovely1a2b3c · 02/01/2021 12:35

It sounds like you've had a heartbreaking 2020 so you've done brilliantly to end up only ever-so-slightly overweight with a BMI of 26.

It'll come off quickly with a 1500 calorie diet and some exercise.

ilovethecold · 02/01/2021 12:35

@thecutback I also don't think you have said anything wrong .

I'm 5ft 2 and weigh 11 stone after having a baby , I've always been 8-9 stone , because I'm small I look huge - my belly is big , my arms are big , my thighs big and you can really see it in my face.

Currently in size 12 clothes from being in size 6-8.

Looking at getting back into shape now I'm well enough and motivated to do so.

I've started looking at my eating habits and ensure I don't diet and work out my Calorie deficit and slowly start introducing exercise.
Good luck 🤞🏽

Lovely1a2b3c · 02/01/2021 12:37

Also I'm 14st 13 and a few years ago my default was 10st but weight is all relative for people and obviously if you're not used to being overweight then even having a BMI of 26 can be a shock.

MrsJBaptiste · 02/01/2021 12:37

@MsTSwift Can I ask you about 16:8 fasting?

I'm getting back into low carbing which I found worked well last year but I wasn't stuck WFH then and I'm finding it much harder to shift a few pounds.

So I could start 16:8 fasting and have my last meal at 7pm then nothing until 11am the next day? Can I have tea/coffee in between?

I'm in the gym 4-5 times a week so hoping these Christmas pounds don't hang around for too long... (I only want to lose 5 or 6 which may be easier/harder I don't know!)

Lovely1a2b3c · 02/01/2021 12:40

@tinselearedcow

This thread is bonkers.

No-one wakes up suddenly weighing 15-20 stone. It creeps on over the years. OP is right to be concerned and to be wanting to put a stop to it now.

OP, I am 5 ft 2 and weigh 10 stone 2 at the moment. This is the heaviest I have ever been. I am overweight and I look overweight. I am doing something about it from Monday (want to enjoy what's left of Christmas first!).

I did go from 10 stone to 15 stone in a year with binge eating disorder and some people do put it on very quickly on SSRIs/other meds.

OP has every right to feel sad about her weight gain but also it's a good idea not to despair about it considering it will probably take about two/three months of 1500 calorie days to get to a healthy BMI.

strawberrypip · 02/01/2021 12:40

omg people, lighten up.

those who are offended if this triggers you about your weight then that is your problem surely...not OPs...

OP I'm with you. I'm only 10 stone but my normal is 8 and a half/9. I am a size 10 atm but the belly could def do with a tone. I try and walk everywhere and limit my sugar intake. I try have half my plate as veg, quarter carb and a quarter protein. sounds like the usual stuff trotted out but it works because it is what your body needs at each meal.

good luck!

thecutback · 02/01/2021 12:41

God, I'm on sertraline... guess that's not helping

OP posts:
Starry4120 · 02/01/2021 12:42

I wish I was still 11 stone. Does that make you feel any better? How tall are you? 11 stone isn’t terrible.

When I was 11 stone I was a slim size 10. I’m an 18 now and much heavier.

Just eat less and move more. Don’t bother with fad diets, waste of time.

tinselearedcow · 02/01/2021 12:43

Lovely1a2b3c yes, good point I should have qualified my statement a bit to acknowledge that some people might gain weight quickly because of health conditions or medication. I hope things are better for you now.

rainbowunicorn · 02/01/2021 12:44

@wildraisins

I would love to be 11 stone.
How is that remotely helpful to the OP. Why bother coming on to teh thread if you have nothing constructive to say. It i snot a race to teh bottom.
FatherChristmad · 02/01/2021 12:45

The lightest I've ever been in my adult life was 11st. I'd be over the moon to be that again. Each to their own OP, don't beat yourself up over it. You'll get to a happy weight when life settles x
