Carole Middleton the ultimate mum raising a future queen?

I'm currently reading Harry & Meghan's book Finding Freedom... Meghan's parents particularly Doria have been applauded for putting such an emphasis on Meghan's education, ensuring she got into an expensive Catholic school & ensuring she worked very hard at school...
Surely the Middleton's should get the same praise but they were ridiculed & accused of being upwardly mobile... Kate & Pippa both attended excellent universities so they obviously worked very hard also..
The other parents in the girkd private school weren't too complimentary about Carole either with snipes about the girls uniforms, sports equipment etc too perfect. I reckon the other parents were jealous.
In my opinion Carole has done an amazing job raising out future queen & should be given more credit...

CM is new money and it always stood out a mile away. MN's snobs never fail to disappoint.

MsHedgehog · 02/01/2021 19:59

Last year Byline Times did a big expose with paperwork and copies of bank statements proving that Will and Kate's publicist's partner had received several payments making up thousands of pounds from a known Meghan-hating Daily Mail journalist after he'd published several insider scoops about Harry and Meghan. They all leak to the press

I completely missed that. Gosh, they're all as bad as each other! Would hate to be in those circles as you'd never know who you can trust!

Brightonbabe5 · 02/01/2021 20:00

@buttery81

But I’ll ask again how does any of this make her the ultimate mother as the title of this thread

I think any woman who has raised three (seemingly lovely) children whilst building up their own immensely successful business from scratch is to be admired personally. That for me is the ultimate mother!

Thanks in part to her hard work and raising them so well, Carole’s kids all enjoy a fabulous quality of life, particularly Kate - who will go down in history. She and the Middleton name will be famous for hundreds of years to come - quite incredible really!

Well said Butterly! Carol succeeded where many other mothers with notions failed. I'm sure there were plenty of girls at St Andrews with their eye on Will. I'm sure other aspirational parents had high hopes for a match over the years. I read before that Harry & Wills friends in school were handpicked & very select & parents were all clamouring to get get "in" with the Waleses. I wonder how the Thomas's parents find the Cambridge's, I would imagine they would be very popular as they are so down the earth. I would imagine Charlotte & George can pick their own friends

I know. I read that and thought, I bet that poster doesn't even know how awful they sound.

@Brightonbabe5

Why is the ultimate life goal to have your daughter marry a prince? CM made enough money to send her daughter to one of the best boarding schools in the country, which is what ultimately opened doors for her. It's actually the signs of a superficial and desperate mother to push for your daughter to marry a prince than to encourage your daughter to do well in life and become independent and successful.

TheKeatingFive · 02/01/2021 20:07

Why is Carole always made out to be the ‘schemer’, plotting for her daughter to get the prince? Confused

Kate has two parents.

RizzleDrizzle · 02/01/2021 20:07

Charming we’ve all failed as mothers then

Raaaaaaarr · 02/01/2021 20:07

@NameChange84 think you just put this thread into perspective.

MsHedgehog · 02/01/2021 20:09

@HmmSureJan

I'm not quite sure what is awful about what I said? Especially when it's true?

TheKeatingFive · 02/01/2021 20:13

I'm not quite sure what is awful about what I said?

Being snotty about people who earn their own money? Confused

You can’t see what’s wrong with that?

MsHedgehog · 02/01/2021 20:13

@NameChange84

For years I worked in SEN schools.

In terms of “Ultimate Mothers”, I saw at least two dozen far more worthy parents in my time. Including one woman who had adopted three severely disabled children and planned on adopting more, giving up her own chance of a romantic relationship or biological children to raise children with such severe disabilities that they’d never leave home and she’d be caring for them her entire life.. Mums who got beaten up daily, chunks of their hair torn out by their kids but who fought everyday to get them the education and support they needed. Mothers who were refugees. Even mothers who had been heroin addicts who got themselves clean and were trying to keep their babies born addicted alive whilst on methadone and suffering withdrawal themselves but who completely turned their lives around, starting their own businesses, leaving abusive partners, providing their child with a “forever” home when they’d never known one themselves...

I admire those women a hell of a lot more than some woman who just helped her kids to social climb.

For those who think what CM is admirable, have a read of this and then think again of what counts as the "ultimate" mum.
Raaaaaaarr · 02/01/2021 20:14

The comments about mixing with the right people in schools is interesting. I became friends at university with someone whose parent was our countries leader at that time. I actually befriended this person not realising this was the case. The thing is, it was never, to me, a comfortable friendship as there was always (well in my head anyway) that feeling that maybe they won't think I'm sincere because of who their family is etc etc. It's really hard to explain but it's a really hard type of friendship to build as it can feel more complex.

DimidDavilby · 02/01/2021 20:15

😂😂😂😂

I think you're doing alright to be honest Carol. Besides dear its terribly declasse to read your own press.

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 02/01/2021 20:16

Well said Butterly! Carol succeeded where many other mothers with notions failed. I'm sure there were plenty of girls at St Andrews with their eye on Will.

The more you post the more iffy and icky you sound.

So, basically her biggest parenting achievement was to have a daughter that was picked by "The man"?

Despite you singing her praises, I doubt Carole would enjoy having her whole life ,daughter and motherhood reduced to "lucky enough to be picked by a man".

BinkyBoinky · 02/01/2021 20:17

@HmmSureJan

Doria brought Megan up to be a strong, educated woman with a mind of her own.

No Thomas Markle, her Dad did.

Well the OP says Doria. From Meghan's book.

In that case I'm sure Kate father's millions helped CM too.

MsHedgehog · 02/01/2021 20:19

@TheKeatingFive Of course there is nothing wrong people making their own money. That's how most people make their money these days...

What is crass is the attitudes and lack of class people with new money often have... And I don't mean class in the sense of middle, middle upper, etc. but class in how you treat people and want others to see you. Plenty of people have money and are successful, but can still keep their head on their shoulders and not show it off. There are also many people who can't, hence why such people stand out a mile away.

HmmSureJan · 02/01/2021 20:19

Being snotty about people who earn their own money? Confused

You can’t see what’s wrong with that?

And that "It always stood out a mile off"

In what way? What was CM doing that made her stand out from those who didn't lift a finger to earn their inherited wealth that was made a hundred or so years ago in who knows what kind of dodgy way?

HmmSureJan · 02/01/2021 20:21

In that case I'm sure Kate father's millions helped CM too

Of course.

Meghan did live with her Dad though and her paid for her very expensive education while she did, whatever the book might say. Is this "Finding Freedom"? The book Meghan had "nothing to do with"?

TheKeatingFive · 02/01/2021 20:23

What is crass is the attitudes and lack of class people with new money often have

What an appalling generalisation. Are the attitudes and class of old money perfect then? Confused

And when has Carole ever demonstrated this ‘lack of class’?

BinkyBoinky · 02/01/2021 20:23
@BinkyBoinky

There are plenty who would disparage Meghan’s career - scantily dressed TV hostess/working girl trying to make it in the harsh world of entertainment depending on the narrative.

Would you swop your partners for theirs?
Funny you focus on the "scantily dressed" part. How sexist of you. What about the "actress" part? Pretty much ALL actresses have been "scantily dressed" at times while trying to make it in Hollywood. Are you implying that they are sl*ts or something?

tea69 · 02/01/2021 20:32

A friend's second cousin goes to Thomas's and went for a play date with George! Three other kids went too - Kate cooked them dinner and William came down and played games in the garden with them. They were very 'normal'.

Kate sent emails to the parents with directions and the cousin's wife explained most people knew where they lived - Kensington Palace 😂

HibernatingTill2030 · 02/01/2021 20:35

Well, any parent who raises their children to be halfway decent, functioning members of society who treat people with respect/kindness have gone a good job. Whether they send them to private school or bash street comp.

I'm not sure she deserves praise for tasing a future Queen. She didn't know she was going to grow up and marry a King or a binman, did she?

LadyfromtheBelleEpoque · 02/01/2021 20:40

@BinkyBoinky. No, my point was that the narrative changes depending on how you see the person.

Oh that's nice to hear George is enjoying school & having some normality. I believe his cousin Maud Windsor is also in his class which is nice for him
