Really Loud Fireworks

Going off at this time of night, when we're in tier 3. God knows what it'll sound like towards midnight. I hate fireworks at any time because I have dogs, who are terrified. The fact that I'm having to deal with a scared animal, combined with moving into the shit of 2020 passed on to 2021, makes me think at least we could have done without the explosives.

Oh dear, there’s always one. Never mind.

Oh i see, it’s the manufacturer’s fault - not the arseholes who let them off in tiny back gardens. Did you see Sst’s previous comments? I think she’s a bit unpleasant.

I said the manufacturers are to blame for making them so loud. There are arseholes all across the country but they wouldn't be able to cause such disruption with them if manufacturers were told to stop causing a nuisance. Like I said before, I don't enjoy fireworks and I also find the unnecessarily massive explosions annoying, but it's out of order to call people 'simple' for enjoying 'pretty lights and loud bangs' (or whatever it was you said)

What i meant is that new year is the equivalent to our Christmas. A country in Southern Europe called Albania was an independent communist country from 40s to 80s. The dictator banned religion - churches and mosques burnt down and priests and Imans were hung. A secular calendar was created but it was influenced by the main two faiths. So no Christmas but instead they had new year celebrations with present for children (h said nothing big just home knitted clothes usually) a new year tree, a feast and new year father. And now they seem to include big fireworks.

I agree they are annoying but I think you kinda expect it on bonfire night and New Years! Maybe people will have them earlier in the evening this year and not at midnight

Nope. Absolute cretins will be setting them off all bloody night long. Got a load right this moment at 9:41 pm. Bunch of fucking bellends.

RedtreesRedtrees · 31/12/2020 21:43

@MrsPear Albania - really? How many Albanians are there in the uk? I’ll help you out - about 13,000 in a nation of 67 million. I don’t think Albanians account for many of the fireworks going off 😂

yetanothernamitynamechange · 31/12/2020 22:05

Try the Netherlands if you want to experience loud fireworks. It is ridiculous here.

MrsPear · 31/12/2020 22:10

True: but I’m trying to give a bit of context to the thread. The uk is made up of many different cultures and religions. Many of those use fireworks as part of celebrations. If people are cross about loud fireworks then I suggest that efforts should be made to try and get them banned but it should be for all including November 5th.

Just tell me where to sign.

I'm in London - where I live we've had fireworks almost every night since around mid-October. I'm so sick of it. I used to like fireworks for celebrations but every night, bang bang bang, actually quite stressful to listen to regularly.

Even with the ban this year there are plenty going off around us (nothing like usual though).

I’ve heard a few REALLY loud bangs that were definitely illegal ones.

Babdoc · 31/12/2020 22:17

Why is it necessary for fireworks to be so damn noisy? They can be spectacularly pretty to look at, they don’t need the accompanying deafening bangs that terrify livestock and pets and wake babies.
People are very inconsiderate to inflict their celebrations on everyone else whether their neighbours want them or not.
It’s the same with all the hideous flashing Christmas lights plastered over houses, in imitation of Vegas, stopping neighbours sleeping and inducing sensory overload and meltdown rage in autistics. In my day, we kept the decorations inside only, and did not inflict them on others.

MagnoliaXYZ · 31/12/2020 22:19

My dogs hate them, they're absolutely terrified of them and they've been barking in fear for hours. The fireworks have been going off in dribs and drabs, all evening.

I don't mind the organised displays we usually have, (I used to enjoy going and watching them until I had dogs who didn't like them) for a relatively short period of constant bangs, at a pre-arranged time on bonfire night and new years eve, but the constant fireworks going off one at a time are so annoying.

I really think they should not be sold to the general public.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 31/12/2020 22:21

Oh well it’s NY, people want to let off fireworks before younger children go to bed. I question it from a safety aspect but the animal argument doesn’t wash with me. Cats shit in my garden, dig it up, dogs run up on my child in the park- quite frankly I dont have animals because I don’t want the hassle yet I still on occasion have to deal with the negatives that come with them.
I don’t care to orchestrate my life around pets that aren’t mine.

Wineisrequired · 31/12/2020 22:23

@Dawnlassie-totally agree with you on that one they started here @ 6.30 .

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 31/12/2020 22:29

So fireworks should be used when young children won’t be disturbed but it’s OK to terrorise pets and wildlife. Check your double standards.

booboomoo · 31/12/2020 22:30

Honestly, in the nicest possible way get over it. I have a dog who is scared! It's NYE what do you expect? It's quite a normal thing to let off fireworks and other people's lives do not revolve around you and your dog/baby/general feelings etc. Even if it's annoying just have a glass of wine and relax or something

Mangofandangoo · 31/12/2020 22:34

I think I must have the only cat in the worlds that couldn't give two hoots about fireworks Blush

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 31/12/2020 22:35

So fireworks should be used when young children won’t be disturbed but it’s OK to terrorise pets and wildlife. Check your double standards check my comment- I was explaining why fireworks might be before 12am, not saying kids cannot be disturbed at all

User158340 · 31/12/2020 22:36

Only selfish bastards set off fireworks in residential areas.

There's something sadistic about it knowing it terrifies animals. Fuckung sociopaths

Greenandcabbagelooking · 31/12/2020 22:37

My cat isn’t bothered, but I am! I hate loud noises, especially sudden ones. My windows are rattling.

Fireworks should not be sold to the public.

RedtreesRedtrees · 31/12/2020 22:37

@booboomoo why should we have to ‘get over it’ and tolerate a bunch of selfish cunts impinging on our peace. It’s not just NYE it’s every fucking week around here.
