Of course!!

Armi · 31/12/2020 08:00

Absolutely. And I’d go to McDonald’s drive through (restrictions permitting!) on the way home to celebrate. I can picture myself munching on a hash brown, watching the sun come up on a bright new day from behind B&Q.

Lindy2 · 31/12/2020 08:01

Yes. The second I'm offered the vaccine I'd drop everything to go. Anywhere, anytime - I'd be there.

HayJkl · 31/12/2020 08:01

Nope!!

EssentialHummus · 31/12/2020 08:01

Yes, but like others I'm not sure I understand the benefit of offering a 24/7 service for this (I was discussing it with DH as that is what Israel is apparently doing).

We drive and there are two of us with one young child, so no issue hopping in the car and going anywhere in turn or with her. But if you're not a driver and rely on public transport I think the absence rate at vaccination centres (added to missed appointments from those who overslept) would have a huge impact.

I'm not sure this is the way to do it.

Toasty280 · 31/12/2020 08:02

Yes I would
But I don't see how they could staff it. Was at the vaccine clinic in my local hospital the other day and the staff were doing 12 hour shifts and talking about on one day they didn't have enough staff, they have to have admin, staff to give injections, a doctor to sign the perscription, two people measuring the dose up/warming it up, staff to supervise post jabs waiting area, it was a bit more complex than rolling up arm out and jabbing you.

yankeedoodledandee · 31/12/2020 08:02

@MrsSugar

I’d like to receive the vaccine but am currently ttc and the health board I work for will not give the vaccine if you are pregnant or planning to conceive in next 3 months

Surely you would pause ttc in order to have a life saving vaccine?

Toasty280 · 31/12/2020 08:03

Haha sounds like a hospital in Mansfield with B and A and Mcds on its doorstep
BumbleBeegu · 31/12/2020 08:04

Those saying 'no because I don't drive'...you have heard of taxis, right?? Ffs!! You ought to be willing to climb fucking mountains in bare feet to get this vaccine and get us out of this mess!! Jesus!!

Toasty280 · 31/12/2020 08:04

That's a B and Q, not B and A

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 31/12/2020 08:05

Yep I’d take any time

Thatwentbadly · 31/12/2020 08:05

I would rather not as I had a toddler who feeds a lot over night and she would be hysterical without me.

Those without transport can go during the day. What's the problem?
SillyOldMummy · 31/12/2020 08:06

Yes, even if it was a really stupid time. I would be happy to take an anti social slot, I am in a 2 parent family, it would be easy to sneak out late at night once the kids are asleep. I haven't been out late at night for two years due to having little ones, this would be a great reason to get out of the house for a bit!

I agree. I'll do whatever it takes to get back to normal.
BatleyTownswomensGuild · 31/12/2020 08:06

Yes - complete no-brainier as far as I can see

MadameBlobby · 31/12/2020 08:07

Absolutely I would. Random pondering as I’m not going to get it that soon but I’ve also got a job interview for a great job coming up soon and if push came to shove I’d forego that to get the vaccine.

pourmeanotherglass · 31/12/2020 08:10

It would depend where as i dont drive. I would cycle anywhere within 5 miles of my house.

FippertyGibbett · 31/12/2020 08:11

They’re running appointments 8am - 8pm currently.
I can’t see them changing that.

InTheLongGrass · 31/12/2020 08:11

Not unless they move the vaccination centre. People from our town are all being sent to the very large medical centre in the middle of the most horrible bit of the next town over. I dont like going there in broad daylight. I wouldnt be going on my own in the middle of the night.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 31/12/2020 08:11

Yes, no big deal as a one off if you have the transport and are not a single parent of children.

As I drive, live in London with 24 hour transport, am not too broke to afford a one-off taxi and am happy to walk at night, I would be willing to take a night slot to leave daytime availability for single parents and others.

MadameBlobby · 31/12/2020 08:12

@PuddyMuddles4

I have no problem with doing it any time night or day, if I was ever going to get it done. Thing is - no bloody way am I letting them put a rushed, untested vaccine into my body. Not going to happen.
But it’s not rushed or untested
inabitofapickle · 31/12/2020 08:12

I’m lucky I can drive etc - if nobody wants the 5 am-6.30 am slots they would suit me perfectly 😃

EssentialHummus · 31/12/2020 08:12

It leads to a big implementation issue imo. Presumably these jabs won’t be first come first serve but (as now) by appointment/invitation. There isn’t a ready list of people able to go in the middle of the night. So randomly allocating 2am appointments will I suspect lead to poor attendance and wasted appointments. Perhaps the alternative is a phone/website booking system for the majority - if the choice is a long wait for a daytime appointment or a 2am one available next week, maybe the latter will be popular after all.

Basically I think there are easier ways to vaccinate a large number of people, and that 24/7 operation feels a bit like “moonshot” “world-beating” etc.

Oblomov20 · 31/12/2020 08:12

Yep. No problem.
