No. I have a job and can’t function on no sleep. Happy to reasonably shuffle my life around / slide shifts to get vaxxed, but going out on my own at 2am is unsafe and unreasonable.

MaryLeeOnHigh · 31/12/2020 15:13

@SnackSizeRaisin

I probably wouldn't. 7 am until 11 pm seems reasonable similar to polling stations, to allow people who work long hours to attend. I can't see any good reason to do it at night as the limiting factor is staff not venues. Staff can only work 12 hours out of 24 anyway so may as well vaccinate at 2pm as 2am.
Why can't they work in shifts?
MaryLeeOnHigh · 31/12/2020 15:17

This has to be a joke surely? What kind of parent is going to drag their child out of bed in the wee hours (unless some kind of emergency)

People do that quite regularly for holidays, or did in the halcyon days when we had them.

MaryLeeOnHigh · 31/12/2020 15:18

The fact that I could get free parking near our health centre at that time of night would be a bit of a bonus.

nevernotstruggling · 31/12/2020 15:21

Yeh I would accept it. It wouldn't be easy as I am a lone parent but honestly whatever gets the job done now...though I suspect I will be jabbed at work

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 31/12/2020 15:23

Yes

user1498572889 · 31/12/2020 15:25

Yes I would. If they asked me to stick my arise out if the living room window and shot the vaccine from a gun I would do it 😂

Whoopsmahoot · 31/12/2020 15:25

Yes

trappedsincesundaymorn · 31/12/2020 15:33

@KimchiLaLa

Yes, and anyone that didn't do it without exceptional reasoning is selfish.
Would you be prepared to give up your day slot for somebody who can't make the early morning one, or would you take it without a second thought? If you take day slot but could quite easily do a very late night/early morning one then that would be selfish surely.
tashac89 · 31/12/2020 15:42

I would, I'd rather day time appointments go to people that need them to be during the day. Public transport ect. I can drive and the husband is around to have the kids if separate nights, if it was the same night, blankets in the car for the kids and a McDonald's treat for them on the way home, same as we used to going on holiday.

2bazookas · 31/12/2020 15:55

You bet I would' I'd jump at the chance.

TonMoulin · 31/12/2020 16:00

@MaryLeeOnHigh, because there won’t enough people to staff the day and night shift AND also provide all the other services they HAVE to offer.

TonMoulin · 31/12/2020 16:01

FWIW I believe that 24/7 is another of those lie that make the government look good but is impossible to implement.

So like before we will be told one thing and something else is going to happen

JimmyTheWeed · 31/12/2020 16:02

Absolutely.

Moutarde · 31/12/2020 16:08

This must be some kind of joke?

I'm fit and well and can cope missing a few hours kip.

If it means people who need the daytime appts get them rather than me, so be it. I'd jump at it.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 31/12/2020 16:12

Yes, absolutely. In fact, I’d offer to do so as I drive and we both wfh so wouldn’t be a problem. Day time appointments could and should be saved for those who have to rely on public transport etc.

But they haven’t said anything about 24/7 vaccines, it’s entirely a Mumsnet fantasy.
amusedbush · 31/12/2020 16:17

Yep. I have a car, I don’t have kids and I WFH on my own schedule so no shuffling of working hours to compensate.

I’d happily go in the middle of the night and free up a daytime slot for someone who needs it.

goose1964 · 31/12/2020 16:19

As long as it was within walking distance.

lumpybumpylooloo · 31/12/2020 16:20

Hell yeah! This is exactly what should be happening!

MarinPrime · 31/12/2020 16:25

I read it on the internet when researching, of course it's true!!!

IrmaFayLear · 31/12/2020 16:37

Don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

As others have said, if I were called at 3am and the instruction was to jog nude singing The Final Countdown for 3 miles I’d be ready.

People saying they need their sleep, or their kids would be disturbed, or they have work (what employer in the world is going to tell someone No, you can’t come in late so you can’t attend your vaccine appointment?!) are UTTERLY MAD !!!!

This made me laugh 😂

I've often got my kids up at 3 or 4 in the morning to either go on holiday or return back from a holiday. Back in the day we'd do it once a year for ski holidays. They aren't bothered in the slightest and easily catch up on the plane, I'm the car on way home or whatever.

If I'd do that for a holiday I'd damn well do that for a crucial vaccine. Can't believe there are people who cba. incredible.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 31/12/2020 17:00

Absolutely. I work in a primary school and am well aware how low down the list educators are 😡
