To have bought a skirt that will drive me insane?

Browsing New Look sales for some maternity clothes - I'm 30 weeks and even my maternity jeans will probably get uncomfortable soon. Spotted a nice ribbed blue midi skirt - perfect.

Bought it and then immediately realised I've exactly the same model, only none maternity and grey shoved to the back of my drawer. Reason being that it clung to my tights and constantly rode up.

Aside from cancelling, what else can I do? Am I bound to the skirt from hell or am I missing a skirt wearing trick here?! How do others wear these?!

Following - I’ve got no idea but am experiencing the same issue!

I bought an MS underskirt which does the job

It’s why skirts should have linings!

FolkyFoxFace · 30/12/2020 22:15

I'm glad it's not just me! There must be a magic answer!

At the risk of sounding just like my mother, and if you can bear it, wear a petticoat!

I could try that actually! It's just that it's a jersey material so I'm not sure if anything under it will help!

That looks like a nightmare, sorry

SuperbGorgonzola · 30/12/2020 22:18

I am the proud owner of an underskirt these days! I think "slip" sounds slightly less frumpy Grin

Ginger153 · 30/12/2020 22:18

Another vote here for a slip! So good for things that don't even crawl up your legs with the wrong tights for feeling less clingy. And definitely the solution for things that do.

That’s really pretty! Hopefully the petticoat will help it be wearable.

Doggybiccys · 30/12/2020 22:19

I heard you rub your legs with those tumble dryer sheets - but I never wear skirts so can’t say if it works

TipsieM · 30/12/2020 22:20

You need an underskirt.:)

HuckfromScandal · 30/12/2020 22:20

I have several skirts like this,
I also have several half slips and 2 full body slips for wearing with them. And have done since I was 20...... I am not frumpy, but I am 47 😂😂😂

FolkyFoxFace · 30/12/2020 22:21

Right, looks like a slip/petticoat/underskirt is on the cards! I've not worn one since I was about 6, but needs definitely must! Maybe the old grey relic can emerge post-pregnancy if this works...

Definitely need a slip. I used to have a stretch one though it would probably cost more than the skirt!

jillypill · 30/12/2020 22:22

Slip?

Something at the back of my head is saying hairspray but that might be to stop shoes slipping.

I have vinyl style legging things which look amazing but squeak when you walk!

Amithetoxicone · 30/12/2020 22:24

Pregnancy support cycling shorts and hairspray 👌👌👌👌

Amithetoxicone · 30/12/2020 22:24

Or tights and hairspray

FolkyFoxFace · 30/12/2020 22:24

@FoxtrotSkarloey

Hats off to you if you are bothering with tights at 30 weeks! Honestly, I'd be buying a better pair of maternity jeans (FWIW, mine were comfy throughout).
Can you recommend a decent pair of jeans? I've got two pairs from H&M, which I thought would last...but again I seem to have lost all sense this pregnancy, as I forgot their sizes are child-like at the best of times. 😂

Slips are a great idea in normal times, but none of mine fitted when I was 30 weeks pregnant

rookgizzardpie · 30/12/2020 22:25

hairspray

FolkyFoxFace · 30/12/2020 22:26

I'm now also frantically googling this hairspray trick. I've a whole bottle of Insette that's been used once - maybe its time has come!

Squeaky leggings would drive me mad! I bet they look fab though!

I always liked Next maternity jeans with the over bump bit.
