To have bought a skirt that will drive me insane?

Browsing New Look sales for some maternity clothes - I'm 30 weeks and even my maternity jeans will probably get uncomfortable soon. Spotted a nice ribbed blue midi skirt - perfect.

Bought it and then immediately realised I've exactly the same model, only none maternity and grey shoved to the back of my drawer. Reason being that it clung to my tights and constantly rode up.

Aside from cancelling, what else can I do? Am I bound to the skirt from hell or am I missing a skirt wearing trick here?! How do others wear these?!

Or rub body lotion under the skirt on your tights.

Anti-static spray. Amazing stuff.

jillypill · 30/12/2020 22:31

Squeaky leggings would drive me mad! I bet they look fab though!

They look amazing but I just can't move in them unless really loud music 🤣

FolkyFoxFace · 30/12/2020 22:32

@PhillyJoe

I always liked Next maternity jeans with the over bump bit.
Thanks! I'll have a browse - I'm carrying ridiculously low so H&M over bump ones look like I'm trying to squeeze into my 8 year old niece's jeans! Didn't even think of Next for some reason.

I've got a couple of skirts like that - really like them occasionally as a change to trousers.
Never have an issue with them riding up - but I don't wear tights.
And they're both very long, so the weight might stop riding up too.

You could have your own silent disco! 😂

I'd love to have your bravery! I'm an absolute wuss when it comes to the cold. I like to convince myself that even the thinnest pair of tights helps!

@antifoxface yup! I think it's called Static Guard. I can't check right now as it's at the back of my wardrobe and to rummage would be too noisy.

Found it! Amazing! Right - I'll order that, a slip (if I can find one), and keep hairspray, body lotion, and cycling shorts on standby. 😂

Might wait until DH has gone to walk the dog to get dressed on that particular morning! 😂

Or just wear it in the dark and enjoy the free firework display courtesy of the static 😆

jillypill · 30/12/2020 22:48

NYEs plan although not sure they will fit after the xmas excess

If none of these work, I might just do that! It can become my party piece. Waste not want not... 😂

I need a short slip because I bought a velvety dress and wore it out. Realised half way down Grainger Street it had ridden up almost to my waist (under my coat). DH (the bugger) thought it was rather funny. 😳

I can feel your pain. It's that moment of bum clenching horror upon realisation. I haven't even told DH I've ordered this because his reaction to last year's skirt problems was much similar to your DH's. Not giving the cheeky sod the satisfaction!

I have a couple of slips a long one and a shorter one for under those see through summer dresses. Work well.

Bramleyapples13 · 30/12/2020 22:54

Hairspray on your tights 😂 I've always done it.

Does it go on before you don the tights or afterwards? Do the tights go sticky? I'm very invested in all of this now. 😂

Why would you not just go without tights...?

Lookslikerainted · 30/12/2020 23:05

Hairspray?

Lookslikerainted · 30/12/2020 23:07

I hairspray my tights once I’m in them... no idea if that the right way to do it. I got the idea from a clueless tv episode (anyone remember the tv spin off) Cher’s skirt was static and Dion sprayed hair spray and it worked. God I sound a like a looser now 😂

Because it's bloody cold and I have Raynaud's Disease, so I really feel the chill!

I used to do the hairspray trick too, a spritz on your legs or tights should do it. Also, I've bought a few items that have arrived quite staticky (thanks, cheapo online shops!) and found that washing them with loads of fabric conditioner can make them a bit less clingy and annoying.

Although if it's lockdown, I'd just say fuck it and wear massive maternity leggings all day every day.

Not a loser if it works! You're using pop culture to your advantage and sharing the joy! 😂
