Had an on-off dry cough, a bit chest hurty for about 2 hours now. Not fucking funny. I feel fine otherwise.

I'd imagine that counts as persistent. I'd book a test.

RedLimoncello · 25/12/2020 20:27

Sorry. Book a test ☹️
Hope you feel better soon.

I had that on off for a cough, and a slight temp, stupidly got a test, which was negative. I was fine the next day.

LoveMyKidsAndCats what’s the point of your post? Confused

Bunnyfuller · 25/12/2020 20:35

Apart from supermarkets with masks not mixed with anyone but family: 2 secondary school children and police officer husband

@LoveMyKidsAndCats what’s the point of your reply?!

I have heart problems and we’re in a flood warning area. Not fucking funny!

I’m sure it’s crap Christmas tv making me focus on it!

The chest pains coupled with the cough; I would get a test.
I hope you're not too poorly.

stovetopespresso · 25/12/2020 20:49

op you know the rules. up to you though its still a free country I guess. I get it sucks and is scary, if you're with others you can try and stay away from them and see how you are tomorrow, try and stay calm though.

Spanglybangles · 25/12/2020 20:52

Book a test

stovetopespresso · 25/12/2020 20:52

sorry my advice was crap like I was bossing you around I meant you could try avoiding others if u want its up to you if you're not sure but I would personally book a test

Bunnyfuller · 25/12/2020 20:56

If I’m the same or worse I will book a test tomorrow. Might sleep on the sofa aided by booze if necessary.

(Yes, I’m a cardiac patient and aware booze is not a medical treatment!)

As per any illness, it is best to know what you are dealing with. You know these are symptoms that require a test, so that is what you have to do. Then you will know and know what you have to do. Then if you are sick focus on getting better and then focus on enjoying the rest of your life. Flowers

Mousehole10 · 25/12/2020 21:00

You have a new cough, you need to isolate and test. It may or may not be.

Thewiseoneincognito · 25/12/2020 21:01

Definitely no booze please.

Book the test. Promptly.

TokyoSushi · 25/12/2020 21:02

Test.

Inpersuitofhappiness · 25/12/2020 21:05

I'm sorry but you mention you're in a flood risk area, have you been advised to evacuate? Whats the plan if your home does get flooded?
In that situation, where can you go if you do need to isolate? I'd assume that you should if you've got a cough right now.

I really hope you feel better soon. What a shit time to be feeling unwell, on Christmas day and in a flood risk area.

eternalopt · 25/12/2020 21:31

Get a test booked regardless. Better to know sooner rather than later what you're dealing with.

Bunnyfuller · 25/12/2020 21:34

The road next to us flooded on 23rd. We’re gable end to the road, and our drive is up a slope. There is a river runs through the village, and it burst its banks on 23rd, Zambezi river through the house that night. Flood warning here moderate for next few days so praying it isn’t as bad.

We’re in the middle of nowhere and both DH and I been drinking so no test tonight. I’m going to sleep on a sofa, still coughing. What a bollocks. Chest only hurts when I cough, which is a blessing as it definitely doesn’t feel cardiac.

Bunnyfuller · 25/12/2020 21:35

Road not house. Thank god

Quartz2208 · 25/12/2020 21:39

This time last week DH was exactly the same 2 days of sneezing and blocked nose then got a cough (like you only place was the supermarket plus 2 children)

He was positive so definitely need a test. He only coughed though for one day (last Sunday) and is fine now

TaraR2020 · 25/12/2020 21:40

I think earlier this year, the NHS defined a persistent cough in terms of days rather than hours but under the circumstances if you're still feeling this way tomorrow, I think it's wise to get a test

Lindy2 · 25/12/2020 21:40

The only way to know for sure is to get a test. You can book now for tomorrow. If you don't have Coronavirus you will be reassured by the test results. If you do have it you can do the right thing. A test is the only way to know for certain.

I hope you feel better soon regardless of what illness you have.

Bunnyfuller · 25/12/2020 21:41

Hi @Quartz2208

Thank you for that. Glad to hear DH is ok. Will def call for a test in the morning if still coughing.
