I'm breastfeeding a newborn and crying my eyes out. My beautiful two year old has become possessed and today I am not coping. She needs her routine and a walk and I'm failing at both.

Sat on the sofa with ddog, drinking mulled cider and scoffing vegan mince pies while Mumsnetting and watching Carry on Abroad - bliss.

I am sitting under my toddler DS who's full of the cold and conked out

Eating smoked salmon blinis and having a cava while DH is doing the tatties. DS1 and 2 are playing the switch and DD is playing Lego.

Not long got home from four hours work at the stables, freezing cold & aching like a bugger, bath running with lots of Radox, brew made, quick fag now on the doorstep.

Once bathed I'm having hot roast beef and mustard sandwiches, Christmas songs on, half hour on my Howrse game, FaceTime my brother and his family, probably a quick nap, then back to the stables for the evening shift.

Then home, steak, homemade chips and trimmings, half a bottle of Lidl's Irish Cream and relax.

Trying to persuade DP that peeling potatoes now is a lot better than waiting until 8PM to start thinking about food.

He's appointed himself chief of the kitchen and it isn't going down well.

Just had the most gorgeous eggs bene', with a mimosa, sitting around, surfing, listening to carols, with DH and DD having kicked me out the kitchen to clean up.

It's raining in my rural corner of Lombardia, but I got brilliant super warm and waterproof walking boots from DS & DH. So DS + I took them for a trial run in the woodlands around our house. Saw three little deer. 🥰

All of me is wet EXCEPT for my lovely warm and dry feet 😊

Just finished listening to Junior Choice. DH is trying to work his VR headset, MIL is on her 2nd sherry 🤣, DD 16 is reading a new book. I’m checking the turkey and making stuffing balls. Have had a lovely morning, lovely presents and the kitchen is warm and smells divine.

Up on my feet, browsing mumsnet and listening to top of the pops on TV. Turkey cooking and everything else prepped.

It's bliss. I can't remember the last time I felt so chilled.

We always do Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve so I can just chill on the day (always lots of leftovers anyway). Presents were opened earlier. I’m sat on the sofa with a coffee watching the cats playing with their new toys We’re going to play some board games this afternoon, me and the DC that is, not the cats!
