Purely for a Black Forest gateau?

I've looked everywhere for one and finally saw one this morning in M&S. But is was fifteen quid?!?!?!?!?

It will only be for dh and I as the kids don't like it (weirdos). And I just think that's a ridiculous amount to spend on pudding for two people.

Whats the chances it'll be whoopsied down to a more manageable fiver or so right before closing time?

My DP popped to Waitrose to get some bits 45 mins before closing and they announced in the store that no turkeys were being reduced as they were all going to staff. I think there were quite a few dissapointed shoppers who were banking on this. He came home with the bits we needed but said there were no real bargains. Sounds like he went to the wrong shop!

Did OP get the Black Forest gateaux?

Loved this story about a teenager's first Christmas job in M&S www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/people/how-to-eat-like-kings-this-christmas-with-a-little-help-from-a-supermarket-secret-1.4422847

Great story, @Joolsin. I once kept on an entirely unsuitable early morning job with M&S purely for the 10p ready meals and 5p puddings. Had to hang around for hours for the staff shop to open as my shift ended at 9am, but God, it was worth it.

YANBU.

Did so myself for a dessert and they had marked down £79.95 turkey crowns to £12! Very few customers walked out without one since there were so many. I would have gotten one myself if I liked turkey. Instead, got the salted caramel profiteroles that were £12 but were marked down to £1.80. Absolutely worth it.

*No wonder covid cases are out of control!

We are going to end up like France where you can’t leave the house unless you had a bit of paper showing where you are going with strict fines. How is getting a £15 pudding essential? Ffs*

Area I’m in is still Tier 2 until Boxing Day, the store was fairly quiet, and people were masked and easy to social distance. Doubt there was 10 people in the entire shop.

So nothing 🤷‍♀️ Just saying it’s funny, is all. I should’ve added a Xmas Grin maybe

I popped into my local M&S about 20 minutes before it closed on Christmas Eve.

Very quiet, loads of food left, walked out 10 minutes later with two giant bags for about £11. Grin Grin Grin

@hansgrueber

A good frozen Black forest gateau is Coppernrath and Wiese if you get desperate!
I actually think the frozen ones are often best - the sourness of the cherries is lovely and tart.

My Aldi roulade version on Christmas Day was disappointing ... too sweet and sickly.
