Aibu to be really pissed off. I bought a large box of roses chocs for xmas day & DP ate the whole fucking tub yesterday. I haven’t had any and the kids had 2 each.

I know it’s petty but it’s just fucking greedy/ selfish - it’s going to be a looooong few days 🤪

OP do not worry. Send him in to the shops to get some more tomorrow Grin
He is going to love itGrin

cherrypie790 · 23/12/2020 19:45

It's a standing joke in our family that if we ever get burgled and someone cracks the digital safe open, they'll be open mouthed as it's full of snacks for the grandkids. DH can't be trusted around anything sweet.

Drives me fucking mad.

Blueraccoon · 23/12/2020 19:45

What about down the side of the sofa? Could some be down there?

SirVixofVixHall · 23/12/2020 19:45

Roses used to be so delicious, we were a Quality Street house so I would get excited if we visited a Roses house... the cherry ones , the long slim praline ! I loved them. But now even the wrappers are vile, and all the nice flavours have gone. Why do they mess with things like this ? It is so depressing.

nosswith · 23/12/2020 19:53

I am a man.

I realise that to even think about eating all of a box of chocolates and not leaving any for the women in the house is either an act of stupidity or one of bravery worthy of the George Cross.

Not knowing the OP I do not know which applies.

5foot5 · 23/12/2020 19:59

Id be a bit pissed off if DP called me disgustingly greedy for eating too much chocolate

But if you got something that was meant to be shared by the whole family - a treat meant for your DP and kids as well as yourself - and, even knowing that, you ate the lot leaving virtually nothing for the rest of the family, then you would be disgustingly selfish as well as greedy.

Cleverpolly3 · 23/12/2020 20:02

@TeenageMutantNinjaCovid

He saved you from palm oil hell

He deserves a medal

This

They are revolting

Neenan · 23/12/2020 20:02

Sorry but this is excusable, for the following reasons;

Roses are now shit. Vile, sweet, greasy pretend chocolate.
The tubs are no longer large, they are much smaller.
Because there are less “chocolates” in, they are cheaper so not such a problem.
He left the Hotel Chocolate you had hidden for your own consumption (or was that just me 🤷‍♀️)

ancientgran · 23/12/2020 20:12

I think everyone has bought me chocolates this year, my dining table is covered in them, do you want to send him round as if I eat this lot I might die.

Natsel84 · 23/12/2020 20:13

Is he due his man period... because that's a sugar craving to the extreme Confused

ancientgran · 23/12/2020 20:13

Neenan I have so much Hotel Chocolat I don't think anyone else has any, there couldn't be that much.

MidLifeCrisis007 · 23/12/2020 20:16

If it's any consolation our dog ate the entire contents of one of those big Lindor balls the other night.

It all came back out again quite quickly. From both ends....

motleymop · 23/12/2020 20:17

@BlueBottle18

Eating the roses tin Id forgive. And tbh if hes going to buy another I dont really understand the issue. Id be a bit pissed off if DP called me disgustingly greedy for eating too much chocolate

But the christmas pudding? Thats like snacking on the turkey!

So funny!! And so true! Who goes and just eats the Christmas pudding??
CranberryCaballe · 23/12/2020 20:19

And here am I feeling greedy because I’ve eaten 5 chocolate coins.

dinglethedragon · 23/12/2020 20:21

We usually have at least 7-8 people in the house over Christmas, and more family for lunch, this year just two of us - I never even thought of getting any chocolates! Christmas without After Eights or Matchsticks.... blimey that's a first.
No Christmas cake, Christmas pud, chocolates - and I forgot the Advocaat ... interesting, that's one of DDs favourites so she usually reminds me.

I have got the Port and Stilton though ( and enough wine for 8, bought months ago and hidden) potatoes for the roasties and other veggies we both like. priorities Wink.

Interesting the things I've been buying for the rest of the family that it never occurred to me to buy just for me. Not that I didn't eat them - they just weren't in my consciousness once I decided we weren't going to host the family and friends as usual.

As for your dh @Blackcelebration12 - it would have totally pissed me off as well, and it is the kind of thing my exH would have done. All the wife work that goes into planning a lovely Christmas for everyone, being undone by his selfishness, it's the straw that breaks the camel's back isn't it? Make sure he goes out to get replacements.

manicinsomniac · 23/12/2020 20:25

Why's everyone going on about palm oil and disgusting, fake chocolate? Obviously the OP likes them and wanted them or she wouldn't have bought them as a Christmas treat. No need to be so judgy. Not everyone can get all their Christmas sweets from hotel chocolat.

I would be very cross at the selfishness and grossed out by the greed. (and possibly slightly worried that he might be bulimic!)

I remember once eating about 3/4 of a tray of those little cheese crispie things one Christmas Day. There were other snacks but everyone liked these and when my mum pointed out that I'd been quite selfish, I was absolutely mortified. I'd just eaten them mindlessly and greedily without thinking about anyone else - but I was about 8 and it taught me a lesson. Your husband's an adult and an entire box of family chocolates is not okay.

As long as he bought another box and apologised though, I'd just move on. It is Christmas.

SirVixofVixHall · 23/12/2020 20:26

What ? Five chocolate coins ? Are you a mouse ?

I also remember as a child how delicious the old Roses were. I was thrilled when Christmas came around and there were one or two of those lovely blue boxes in the house Nowadays they are absolutely 🤮

I don’t have any “posh” chocolate in the house I’ve got a chocolate orange and some Dime bars. And some haribo for the kids.

I think the OP might be a little more alarmed at you wondering whether her husband might be bulimic than a few of us saying that Roses are not what they used to be !

Emmylou292 · 23/12/2020 20:41

I used to love the coffee creams, but evidently they were unpopular as they've done away with them!

shelbyrae · 23/12/2020 20:55

Reminds me of the time I bought advent calendars for me and my dad, and the next day they were both mysteriously empty

maddiemookins16mum · 23/12/2020 21:13

Even the Coffee creams?

lyinginthegutterstaringatstars · 23/12/2020 21:18

Very greedy. Even in my choc eating days I'd never manage a whole tub of choc sweets.
Maybe he's a bit depressed about something?
Hope his stomachs okay after all that sugary?

IDontMindMarmite · 23/12/2020 21:20

That's about 3000 calories.

Cherrysoup · 23/12/2020 21:23

@BillieSpain I just find it extremely bizarre. An entire pudding? I’d be tempted to get another but very deliberately halve it between you and dd.

@nosswith pmsl! 🤣
