Shops always busy at Christmas, I've just stupidly tried to pop in for a few things, first aisle got jammed in and couldn't move trolley round with out bumping someone, everywhere I turned trolleys and people darting around. Put my apples back, decided to go back later but still struggled to navigate round people. Get near doors decide to keep walking at this point as a man walk down my right side trying to cut across in front and because I decided to keep going, got called a F**king nut case and he kept calling me to the man behind me.

As I left I stated to the man behind that I'd spend a good while trying to stay out of people way that I didnt actually get anywhere and he was being a bit harsh, he replied well I never f**king said anything did I.
I need stuff but I'm I the only one to find the shops today so unbearable that I left and Im prepared to just get whats left later rather than deal with crowds like that.
Christ it had me dizzy and demented.

Sorry, just feel calmer already just typing my stress out!!!

@ultrablue "
I have also abandoned a full trolley load in Tesco because of their infuriating lack of staff on checkouts a couple of weeks ago.When I stomped out I fully expected to be wrestled to the ground as went out the one way system"

And you are proud of your behaviour because... ?...

Rainbowsoup · 23/12/2020 18:39

God I really don’t understand this to be honest. Another person moaning that shops are busy whilst being in the shop adding to the people there. Why are you shocked? It’s 2 days until Christmas of course it is busy! And sounds like you went middle of the day when it’s obviously peak time.

Not only did it shock you but you made a pointless trip mixing with people when we’re not supposed to and put items back on the shelf that you’d touched..

shinynewapple2020 · 23/12/2020 18:40

@dietingtomorrow

Who is eating all this extra food? Or is it mainly because of the 11th hour restrictions change?

In my house there is just me and DH but we have absolutely loads of treat food . We will have DS and GF for one meal on Christmas Day but mostly we will be enjoying eating the treat food ourselves to make something different about Christmas . Normally we would go out for a meal or two but that won't be happening this year .

BethlehemIsInTier1 · 23/12/2020 18:42

I was so lucky to get all mine delivered today, so impressed how easy and relaxing it was compared to last year when I was in Morrisons bang on 6 AM, and it was even packed then!

I didnt say I'd left my Christmas shopping till last minute because I haven't. Every time I pop to a shop someone gets too close. Now with Christmas, shops are letting too many people in and its dangerous. I refuse to put my health and the health of my loved ones at risk because, shops are too full, I will raid the gift trunk I always have stocked and share it out.

pollymere · 23/12/2020 19:12

My local ones are currently open until 11pm. The counters closed at 8pm but they were refilling the shelves so I got almost everything I wanted. They weirdly had no mushrooms! It's suicide to try to shop midday at the moment especially when the stores are pretty empty in the evenings.

carlywurly · 23/12/2020 19:22

M&S was bliss at about 830pm last night. Still fairly well stocked but no queues at all. Like a private shopping experience Smile

Zoejj77 · 23/12/2020 19:28

I went to Waitrose it was very civilised !

Tzimi · 23/12/2020 19:40

@Milssofadoesntreallyfit Try going late at night, my local supermarkets are usually quiet then.

KatherineOfTarragon · 23/12/2020 19:41

@Ddot cain you exercise social distancing? Can you put a space between yourselves and others? Can you order goods on line to avoid interaction? Can you do what we all do to minimise l interaction or are you too precious ?

Xmas Shopping and home deliveries can be done quite Covid securely. I have covid. secured my 20 yr old sons xmas gifts. I have not been able to see my elder 20 yr old son since October. I last saw my son in October. I have seen my son. twice this year. July and October. We missed Easter.

A long queue is a small price to pay. I would queue for days for 2 mins with my eldest son.

Hailtomyteeth · 23/12/2020 19:43

My local supermarket is open until midnight tonight. Maybe shop later?

Yogalola · 23/12/2020 19:44

I was amazed by how quiet and well stocked the shelves were at 11am today. Suppose all down to location and supermarket.

KatherineOfTarragon · 23/12/2020 19:46

Not 2 mins, i meant ii would queue for all my years to see my son .

rozee83 · 23/12/2020 20:00

Go last thing at night (between 10pm -12pm) no one in there, and re stocking shelves!

Kettledodger · 23/12/2020 20:06

Went to my local Aldi at 8am fairly busy, though it is a smallish store they have a traffic light system and it was still green so not overloaded. Then off to our local HUGH Asda. Got there around 9 busyish but again nothing too bad. Able to hang back and wait till people moved on from shelves I needed to get to. I left at 10ish and it still wasn't bad IMO. This is in a large town population 100k or so...tier 4. I really thought it was going to be pandemonium going by SM and some on here

My sister tried 3 do ifferent supermarkets but could not get a fresh turkey crown. Over three hours of parking, looking and queuing and in the end she had to make do with a frozen one. She got excited because she found some sprouts.

Mamanyt · 23/12/2020 20:11

Don't blame you one bit. This time of year I am almost unbearably ready to ram a browser. And why on earth do so many of them stop and stand in the middle of the aisle and act oblivious to the fact that people on either side are blocked?

Ddot · 23/12/2020 20:19

KatherineOfTarragon
My post was in response to the op, and yes i can do all of the above but only if others do the same. I have got gifts on line but do need to eat. I don't order food on line because I think I should leave slots for those that can't get out. This post is about shops letting too many people in all at once, and people not keeping their distance. I don't mind queuing at all, never said I did. You seem to be a bit on edge I suggest a brandy and a hot bath.

Ddot · 23/12/2020 20:28

Oh and for your information I am very precious

earsup · 23/12/2020 20:35

I just dont bother anymore with all this xmas shopping nonsense....3 weeks ago i went to waitrose......and they had loads of organic chickens, cut and washed vegetables etc....so i spent about £3 and its all in the freezer !!..if i hadnt done this i will just get a take away....its only a roast dinner...most people have one each week or more anyway !

NewMumSoon1 · 23/12/2020 20:38

That's what to do.. abandon your trolley load of shopping (if you actually had anything in your trolley) for it to go in to waste (refrigerated/frozen products) and for a supermarket worker to have to spend a long time putting everything away! Irate ex supermarket worker here who knows just how insane the general public become at Christmas!

NewMumSoon1 · 23/12/2020 20:38

@slashlover

Because abandoning trolleys for the staff to deal with wont cause more bother or lots of food waste.
Completely agree! So selfish - less staff on shop floor because they've got to put your stuff away!
Bookworming · 23/12/2020 20:57

It must be so Fucking hard OP, to be the most erect shopper, whilst all the others are farting around, not following rules!

Need a few things, take a basket and not a trolley! And don't leave it for someone else to deal with!
