May Hope and History Rhyme (Trump#116)

Perdue said that Trump has been consistent with his claims that there were voter irregularities and said Trump just "wants some answers."

His claims have all been answered, but he didn't like the answers that he got. He wanted some very specific answers: ones which meant he'd won the election in that state. No other answers were going to be accepted by him.

Somehow lost you all - never fear, I am back! (not that anyone noticed!).

Just making sure I've got my (socially distanced, natch) seat ready for tomorrow's Georgia run offs.

There won't be any results tomorrow or the day after in Georgia; absentee votes will still be being counted for days. And after that, with all the protests and demands for recounts and claims of voter fraud being taken to the courts and rejected for lack of any evidence, it'll be at least 16th before a result is available, at a guess. Might be longer.

It might be clear on the night: we can hope. But I don't feel inclined to optimism at the moment, and Trump is off his chump.

This has been Trumps for the last 4 years. Everything that he doesn't like is fake news. If it doesn't fit his agenda it's been written by the Enemy of the People.

Liking all the scenarios! Me and my OH have been speculating who has been knobbling him - thinking the small desk, some of the court cases that have been brought, etc, feeding him bad intel, down to this leak. I wondered if there is a 'double-agent' pretending to be a repug who managed to get close to him and gain his trust. He thinks maybe it's someone who got left behind when Obama left? I bet there's lots of secret 'rooms' in that place! Kind of like the idea of a Bourne-type living under his nose, causing trouble, a bit like a poltergeist :D

No idea how true this is... speculation but who knows what his plans are, doubt he knows

However, before The Washington Post published the recording Sunday, Trump attacked Raffensperger in a tweet, writing that he was “unwilling, or unable, to answer” questions about his false claims of widespread voter fraud and that he “has no clue!”"

Which would explain why it was released, wouldn't it.

Moral: don't poke Raffensperger with a pointy stick: he might bite you.

Second moral: don't attack people who have made it plain they are not going to dance to your tune, because they are not going to dance to your tune about that either.

On 19th he will still be POTUS: would she be able to refuse entry to the Head of State of an allied nation?

Wait until there is a warrant out against him, then deport him to answer charges in New York, maybe?

She unfortunately can't as she doesn't have any powers re UK Border Control. Where she does have power is over Public Health, so maybe she could claim he was a virus spreader

Well, to be honest, if I was in any position of power, I'd have all my calls recorded as a matter of course (as it happens I'm not in a position of power, and I still record all my calls ...).

And given the alleged brainpower Trump is supposed to have surrounded himself, it's impossible to believe that not one of them suspected Raffensperger might have done that. And why.

So it's interesting to speculate on whether Trumps attack was against their advice, or whether they let him rip knowing it was going to blow up somehow.

suggests that Trump is trying to build up an inertia making him "too hot to handle" in the courts. Which reminds me as to how exactly he's going to arrange his own pardon ?

I wonder if he could resign, and then Pence makes him VP just in time to chair the Senate on the 6th ?

About dead voters - of the 2, at least 1 of them is known to have been a Republican. Talk about flogging a dead horse. I wish he and his enablers would just bugger off to Hell, where they belong snd should have been since at least 2014.

Maybe that's why the US hasn't refused to allow flights from the UK to land in the US. Scrotus is worried that the UK will ban US arrivals in retaliation. Then how would he get to Scotland? I suggest a leaky rowboat.

Well.... Turnberry is now closed until 5th Feb. So I doubt he can come without it being a very unpopular move. Reading some of the Scottish press the theme in comments seems to be 'well... he can feck right off....'
