This seems to me to be something I have known since at least three elections ago, when a Republican won a usually-Democrat county and more votes were cast in that particular election that there were people living in that county. The fact about voter-numbers got lost in debate about whether the new-fangled voting machines had switched Democrat votes to the Republican candidate, and nobody in the media seemed to have noticed the actual numbers because they were busy chasing the percentages, but I did. I may have forgotten the name of the county but I do remember that: it shocked me rigid at the time, me being a nice innocent Briton who expects elections to be conducted with at least a modicum of accuracy about the number of people eligible to vote in any given ward.

It's hard not to cry at at that. Terrible, terrible shades of the fate of the Goebbels children - murdered with poisoned milk. The eldest daughter twigged what was happening, apparently, but kept calm herself to keep the other 5 children calm.

Knowing stories like that make it very hard to #bekind to fascists and the scum that enable them.

California has 5 designated Covid 'regions'. Only one region (far No Calif, very rural) is not under lockdown. Two of the four locked down Covid regions in CA have no ICU beds available.

San Francisco has instituted a 10 day quarantine for ANYBODY traveling into or out of the Bay Area. That means that technically if we were to drive into the City for the weekend, because of the new rules we would check into our hotel, sit there for the weekend, then drive home.

It started last night and runs til 4 Jan. I don't blame them one bit for wanting to keep people out of the area. SF is overrun with tourists this time of year.

Thanks for the new thread. I agree with someone upthread who said the first Biden thread should be started on 20 Jan. Imagine the positivity and light humour of those threads as opposed to the negativity and dark humour of the Scrotus threads!

From what I've been seeing/hearing on cable news, at least 60% of it will legally go right in his & his progeny's fucking pockets.

It's infuriating that people are so fucking stupid and blind. But hey, it's not my money so if they want to throw it away, let them. What really disgusts me is the number of vulnerable people who have probably given money they can't afford. He's as low as a fucking televangelist.
