Pajama bottoms with backside seams are unhygenic

Fangtiger · 18/12/2020 11:10

Am I the only person who has a problem with the backside seam on pajama bottoms? The seam goes up my bum so I end up wearing night time knickers underneath to stop that happening and to stop having to wash my pjs every day. Do pj bottoms without a backside seam exist? Someone told me M&S had some, but can't find them.

@MrsRogerLima found it, ate it. At least I hope it was chocolate... Xmas Grin

MeadowHay · 18/12/2020 23:02

I almost always wear knickers to bed + PJs. Just habit and I'm always cold as well. Very rarely if it's not in summer i might just sleep in knickers alone or a short nightie alone or something. I've never had thrush or any kind of related infection. I don't really get some of the comments on here, there's no right or wrong answer surely it's just personal comfort Confused

CrotchBurn · 18/12/2020 23:04

I'm in bed and about to whip my pants off for my very first night sleeping with an aerated fanny - all thanks to this thread!!!

Pootle40 · 18/12/2020 23:04

All this washing of pjs every night is great for the environment.

AldiAisleofCrap · 18/12/2020 23:05

@Feministicon never heard nice implied those wearing incontinence pads or sanitary towels were skanks, it was a mild rebuttal to those saying the knickerless were grotbags oh I agree I was just saying I had never used that word not that anyone had used it I a derogatory manner.

I didn't wait. This thread has been playing on my mind so I whipped mine out after tea. DH thought he was into a good thing and seemed rather perplexed when I told him I was just 'airing' it.

waterlego · 18/12/2020 23:08

Pootle Many of us who wear fresh PJs each night have said that we have many pairs so do not need to do loads of extra washing. I have about 15 pairs personally. And no, I’m not made of money or anything. Most were bought in supermarkets and some are years old.

Waspnest · 18/12/2020 23:10

I don't think wearing knickers in bed = uptight, I think we're just a bit defensive about being accused of being unhygienic.

People seem so shocked about other peoples choices on here. I feel the cold so sometimes I wear a onesie on top of my pjs and socks, someone who's perimenopausal might find a sheet too much, so what?

We don't normally see eye to eye but I laughed out loud Grin

@snookercue
It feels good actually I can see what the fuss is about. But I'm going to have to rethink what I wear on top. Tank top and knickers feels fine, tank top and nothing feels....weird. kind of sloppy

unless you live and work alone, no one will thank you for wearing dirty (day or night) clothes or skimping on your personal hygiene Grin

This thread is wild!

I wear Pjs mostly. Change them once or twice a week. No knickers. To me it's not the same as going commando under trousers (which I don't do) because I'm inside my own house and the pj bottoms are baggy.

If you wear clean Pjs everyday because it's more hygienic, are you thinking of germs and bacteria or smell?

CrotchBurn · 18/12/2020 23:13

@Wheresmykimchi
I enjoy reading your posts kimchi. You have heart 💐

Wow, who knew that ass crack pyjama conversations could create harmony in the sisterhood! 😂

MandosHatHair · 18/12/2020 23:19

@Allmyfavouritepeople

For me personally it just feels better to have a fresh pair of PJs out of the drawer after a long day rather than something that has been draped over the chair all day. Like a self care thing I suppose.

Well, pjs when worn without knickers smell like a day-old pair of knickers so, although not filthy, they're dirty enough to need washing daily just like knickers in my opinion.
DorisDaisyMay · 18/12/2020 23:28

When I was younger, I encountered this at my cousins house, when I went for a sleepover. I had always been a knickers in bed girl. And she was a no knickers, let your Minnie breathe, girl. I wanted to be like her- so I tried it, but I didn’t like it. And now it’s all naked or knickers for me.

Allmyfavouritepeople · 18/12/2020 23:32

I could get behind the self care, little luxury thing definitely hathair

I do wonder whether some people smell or think they smell or are more bothered by a smell than others. I consider one day old Pjs to still smell and feel fairly cleanish eg still smells like laundry powder, still feel crisp from drying. I do think upon reading this thread I'll go for changing every other day now, but you'll never catch me wearing pants in bed!

ElizaLaLa · 19/12/2020 00:03

@SkeletorAttack my DM always said it's bad for you to wear pants at night as you've 'got to let your fanny breathe' lord knows WTF that means but I now cannot tolerate pants at night Was told the same, now if I wear pants to bed I feel suffocated psychosomatic.

Same here. Blame the 80's. I wear nighties, I can't stand anything around my waist when I'm sleeping.

But by the fact that you are wearing a fresh pair every night then of course you are! My point was anyone wearing pants is probably wearing a set of PJs for a few days. I also own loads of PJs but I would only wear two pairs a week so who is doing more washing?
speakout · 19/12/2020 07:38

I think there are bigger crimes to humanity than wearing fresh jammies every night.
I wouldn't wear the same t shirt three days in a row, why are pjs any different?

beautifulmonument · 19/12/2020 08:01

I always wear knickers. Don't like the feeling of fanny touching thigh/rubbing or getting pyjama seams up in there Grin

But if i do ever wear pyjamas without knickers i put them in the wash in the morning

waterlego · 19/12/2020 08:02

Yes Pootle, but we might be talking about one extra load per fortnight, if that. Your original post suggested people were washing PJs every night.

I have solar panels and an electric car. I’m doing what I can, just as we all do. I’m not going to lost sleep over one extra wash a fortnight.

I frequently wear the same clothes 2-3 days in a row.

Not if I spill something or it's a hot day or I've got sweaty for other reasons. Or if for example I've been on the tube or my clothes have touched things I don't want touching my sofa.

But day to day I'm at home or at my office and then a walk around town/supermarket. So they aren't touching anything or getting dirt on them.

But generally a t-shirt isnt smelly or dirty after a day. Washing that frequently is a waste of water and will age the clothes much quicker.

School uniform I wash after a day though.

speakout · 19/12/2020 08:32

You are a cleaner woman than me then!
I am very active, sweat a lot, I need a new t shirt after my morning work out too, so usually 2 t shirts a day.
