I'm due to have the vaccine in an hour. Would you?

Just that. Am curious to see what MNers would do if offered.

YANBU - I WOULD have the vaccine.

YABU - I WOULD NOT have the vaccine.

Am 40. NHS worker. Healthy and low risk.

Deffo!

sage46 · 17/12/2020 15:56

I will have it when it's offered.

VallarMorghulis · 17/12/2020 15:59

Yes, definitely. Can't wait!

WeavingWandering · 17/12/2020 16:00

I can’t - but I would in heart beat if I could.... and definitely like there’s an obligation on those who can, to protect those who can’t (but would if they could!)

wigglerose · 17/12/2020 16:01

I'm pregnant currently and afterwards will hopefully be breasfeeding, plus I'm in a low band so I won't be offered or taking it any time soon. That said, I'd take in a heartbeat. I've read enough around the development process to be comfortable with it.
I'd take the vaccine in a heartbeat to help people like my parents and me be safe.

Rockbird · 17/12/2020 16:02

Sleeve rolled up already, although group 6 so got a long wait yet! Can't wait for my parents and in laws to have it though.

Moo678 · 17/12/2020 16:02

Only reason I haven’t had mine yet is because I’m pregnant.

ktp100 · 17/12/2020 16:03

You might as well change the options to IAAI or IANAI.

I'll be having the vaccine because IANAI (I am not an idiot).

VinylDetective · 17/12/2020 16:04

My sleeve’s rolled up already.

LindainLockdown · 17/12/2020 16:04

Absolutely and it's very heartening to see 90% would have it.

To protect everyone else. In a heartbeat

The Pfizer vaccine is not proven to prevent transmission
If it stops people getting infected then eventually there will be fewer infected people to pass on the virus.

If it’s good enough for Prue Leith and Sir Ian McKellan, it’s good enough for me........

C130 · 17/12/2020 16:12

@ktp100

There really is no need to go there.
alreadytaken · 17/12/2020 16:14

Yes. I'd happily turn up on 20 minutes notice, a bit longer if I had to walk there.

Jaxhog · 17/12/2020 16:16

Absolutely yes.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 17/12/2020 16:16

No. Absolutely not.

HowManyTimesHaveIToldYou · 17/12/2020 16:18
@Zilla1
The vaccine could increase asymptomatic spread by increasing the proportion of cases which are asymptomatic (and therefore not caught and isolated). Pfizer purposely chose not to test asymptomatic participants in the trial and therefore have absolutely no idea as to whether the vaccine prevents people catching the virus or simply reduces symptoms in which case they would still be able to pass it on the same as anyone else. As the vaccine was far from 100% effective in preventing symptomatic cases it is probably more likely that the vaccine merely reduces symptoms and does not reduce onwards transmission meaning vaccinating those who come into contact with vulnerable people before the vulnerable people they come into contact with is likely to lead to an increase in preventable deaths from the virus.
That would only make sense if they were vaccinating the least vulnerable first. Which they are not.

That's the whole point of doing it in the order they are, so that the most vulnerable are less likely to either become infected, or have significantly milder symptoms

RosesAndHellebores · 17/12/2020 16:19

If NHS workers are asking this I despair! Yes in a heartbeat to protect those more vulnerable than me and to protect the NHS we have all been locked down for.

chocolatepowder · 17/12/2020 16:19

I had a medical procedure this morning. The (respected) consultant told me he wasn't going to have it until 4-5m people had had it and the effects can be more widely seen. The testing excludes people with allergies etc so it's not complete testing - that happens on roll out (hence the anaphylactic type responses seen by a few). He did say if he were elderly he would have it straight away.

I'm not having it as I'm breastfeeding and not willing to take any risk, although my local breastfeeding groups seem to be saying to ignore official advice and have it ASAP! I would have it if I were over 60 without hesitation though.

Mrsemcgregor · 17/12/2020 16:19

I work in adult social care so I think I’m in group 2? I’m not sure if that means I will be getting it soon?

But yes I will definitely take it. If it only reduces symptoms and not transmission (not proven either way) then presumably viral load will be lower and the chance of infecting others will be lower presuming people are still being hygienic and respecting person space.

Plussizejumpsuit · 17/12/2020 16:20

A billion percent yes!

This isn't an indication of my poor understanding of numbers, probability and risk. Just my enthusiasm.

UserEleventyNine · 17/12/2020 16:23

Yes. I'd happily turn up on 20 minutes notice, a bit longer if I had to walk there.

20 mins notice would do it for me. Takes me about 10mins to walk to my gp. Add on time to change to a short sleeved top and put my shoes on, I'd be there, if they had some spare doses that needed using.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 17/12/2020 16:25

I'm ECV and I can't wait. Seriously envious. Envy

crazychemist · 17/12/2020 16:26

Yes please . Would love to be able to get out and about more without worrying I could give Covid to my parents (we are in a support bubble). It’s a step towards getting back to normally life, bring it on!

MrsExpo · 17/12/2020 16:26

Absolutely. If you don’t want it, move over - I’m on my way.

thepeopleversuswork · 17/12/2020 16:28

Hell yes. I’m right at the back of the queue but my dad is getting his tomorrow and I could cry with relief.
