Just that. Am curious to see what MNers would do if offered.

YANBU - I WOULD have the vaccine.

YABU - I WOULD NOT have the vaccine.

Am 40. NHS worker. Healthy and low risk.

No

inlectorecumbit · 17/12/2020 18:53

I had mine and l am fine Smile

winterchills · 17/12/2020 19:01

No I wouldn't be

BlueSkies2020 · 17/12/2020 19:06

I can’t understand why people are refusing the vaccine. In my opinion it’s your public duty to vaccinate yourself and not put other people’s health at risk. It’s selfish.

Imagine a hundred years ago if our poor ancestors had the chance of a vaccine for Spanish Flu. We are SO Lucky and people choose to not vaccinate.

Baffling.

ancientgran · 17/12/2020 19:08

Will those who won't take it have to endure this abuse from now on? Given that everyone who refuses it moves someone else up a place I don't imagine people will want to abuse refusers. Each to their own in my book.

ancientgran · 17/12/2020 19:12

I think this is purely because of the logistics of storing the vaccine. They can’t deliver it direct too care homes and they don’t want the care home residents traipsing to hospitals. The best they can do in the mean time is vaccinate the staff. I understand that but it was someone explaining why carers having it could increase risk to vulnerable residents. So glad that at my relatives home they are all getting it together.

I'm a worrier in case you hadn't noticed.

gypsywater · 17/12/2020 19:22

I would 100% get it if I wasnt TTC. It would make my NHS job a lot less worrying!

VenusTiger · 17/12/2020 19:27

No. Immune system for me thanks. Different for you in your job though. Good luck.

UrAWizHarry · 17/12/2020 19:34

Absolutely I would, as should anyone who doesn't have a valid medical reason for not having it.

"Immune system for me". FFS.

trixiebelden77 · 17/12/2020 19:35

‘Immune system for me’.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

That’s literally how vaccines work you fool.

Aria999 · 17/12/2020 19:41

Yes yes yes yes yes

umpteennamechanges · 17/12/2020 19:42

@Doveyouknow

Yes, I wouldn't hesitate. Or we can all avoid getting the jab and just repeat 2020 again in 2021. I mean, it's gone so well...

^ Can't put it better than this really!

MulledGin · 17/12/2020 19:44

For anyone saying no to the vaccine well take it from someone who has a member of their family who was born with a mother who contracted German measles whilst she was pregnant.
It has the most far reaching and devastating effect on that child (deaf and blind) and the family as a whole. My granny had a mental break down and died young. I never knew her but her son was born with all their terrible disabilities because of a bastard virus. His life has been pure hell because he is so disabled.
It broke her, it broke the family.
Because of my personal experience I am beside myself with those who have the chance of health and freedom not taking it up. The thing is it has to take all of us to irradicate the virus, I'm not sure what the threshold's % is to create heard immunity but you have a moral duty to others to take the vaccine to save lives.
A virus doesn't just kill or harm it destroys lives.

hellolittlebaby · 17/12/2020 19:51

💯 % will be having it when I'm allowed

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 17/12/2020 20:00

We are SO Lucky and people choose to not vaccinate

We're so lucky that we have the right to choose not to vaccinate.

imamearcat · 17/12/2020 20:05

Yes!

ConcernedAuntie · 17/12/2020 20:21

@VenusTiger

No. Immune system for me thanks. Different for you in your job though. Good luck.
My friend's sister was a great one for the immune system, vitamins and fruit and veg and a healthy lifestyle. Her daughter contracted measles and is now profoundly deaf. The daughter no longer has anything to do with her mother because she can't come to terms with the fact that her mother could have protected her from a lifetime of disability.
TikTokFinger · 17/12/2020 20:24

If I were you, absolutely. Me? No way.

trulydelicious · 17/12/2020 20:32

@FourTeaFallOut

You know, that's too harsh. In my head that rolled off the tongue in a fairly relaxed way and written it looks like a battle cry

We all get a bit carried away, I understand

trulydelicious · 17/12/2020 20:37

@VinylDetective

Someone who clearly doesn’t understand the meaning of abuse

Yes, I understand

Anyone forced to change their behaviour because they are frightened

Does X play mind games and make you doubt your judgment

This may happen in real life and in the workplace.

People feeling peer-pressure and cornered into having medical treatment they do not want.

It's very worrying, yes

Martiniwithanolive · 17/12/2020 20:38

Nope

trulydelicious · 17/12/2020 20:40

@MulledGin

it has to take all of us to irradicate the virus

You know that the Pfizer vaccine has not been proven to prevent transmission, don't you?

So there's no 'herd immunity' to speak of yet

Even if there was, people should be allowed to make their own choices

trulydelicious · 17/12/2020 20:54

@baublesbaubleseverywhere and @BlueSkies2020

If someone holds power of attorney for someone, the expectation is they will be making decisions in the person's best interest

The right decision for you may be the wrong decision for somebody else.

These are new vaccines (I'm mainly referring to Pfizer here) with novel technology not administered to healthy humans for mass vaccination before

Potential late onset side effects are not known because not enough time has passed yet (and some vaccines can damage health - think Pandremix and narcolepsy)

It's not yet known whether they can prevent transmission

Instances of severe allergic reactions (ICU) occurred in recipients with no previous history of allergies (Alaska)

It is not yet known if they are safe for people with autoimmune disease or other conditions

I could go on

I hope that all of these questions are answered in due course and that some people's concerns are unfounded

I wish well to those who have had it and I understand their reasons to have it as well (fear of Covid, line of work, etc)

I'm also grateful to volunteers who selflessly participated in the trials

ByersRd · 17/12/2020 20:59

No, not yet. I'd prefer to wait until more is known about it and make a decision (I'll have to wait anyway,not in a priority group)

Fifilafrog · 17/12/2020 21:04

I'm not even in a group but yes, I would have it in a heartbeat if I was lucky enough to be offered one. I need a hug and don't want to have to wait until
I'm 50 to get one! ☹️
