I’ll go first:

  • People who season food before they’ve tried it
  • People who take ages to text back (or don’t at all)
  • People who are late for no reason
OP posts:

People who whisper in front of other people
People who are 'helpful ' to make themselves feel better without any thought to whether they are actually being helpful
People that eat noisily

I think l mostly find things annoying that many would agree with.

Chechout people in shops who say not a word to you when you say 'hi' and 'thank you' - not even a thank you in the end! Just sit there and scan items. I'm never sure if that's normal in some cheaper places like Wilko or is it personal?

To be fair it's the one woman in that shop who does it regularly but there is another bordering on rude, like asking 'is this it?' when you ask for a behimd-the-counter item, and then take payment, not a word afetrwards.

On Microsoft teams calls in current climate when there's several of you on the call and some thing triggers some kind of "in joke" with some of them and they start smirking. Even worse than in real life. Makes me want to punch the screen! My ex manager was a shocker for this...

woodhill · 23/12/2020 12:08

@Furries

When there is absolutely no acknowledgement if you let a car out from a junction etc or if you hold a door open from someone. I’m not expecting a thank you worthy of an Oscar speech, but a nod of the head/smile/raise of the hand is appreciated. Although if we’re being more flashy, I do quite like the quick double indicator/hazard light flash that lorry drivers give when you let them out on the motorway!

At the other end of the spectrum, I find that wombats might look cute, but can be quite rude!

Yes, just bad manners
CounsellorTroi · 23/12/2020 12:27

When you meet someone you know out and about say Hi and they immediately say “I can’t stop”. Makes you feel two inches tall. Not like I had any intention of holding them up.

SunsetBeetch · 23/12/2020 13:24

@pomers

People who begin loading their shopping onto the conveyor belt at the supermarket check out before I’ve finished putting mine on. Obviously not happening at present due to Covid queuing restrictions, but i find it really rude.

Also agree with people who never stop talking about money. Cringeworthy and lacking in class.

Pointing. Really rude in my book

Ooh that's reminded me:

People who don't put the divider down after putting all their shopping on the belt. That's your job, not mine! I put the divider down after my shopping.

mizzmelli · 25/12/2020 23:21

People eating in the street like scavengers. Cramming any old shit in their mouths then sparking a cigarette up. Makes me boke.

TotorosFurryBehind · 26/12/2020 00:27

People who let their children scream on trampolines.

SOmuchsparkle · 26/12/2020 07:27

Wowzers! You are all very upright. I hope I don't know you IRL.
SO easy to unwittingly offend Hmm

SOmuchsparkle · 26/12/2020 07:29

So much umbrage being taken Confused

Helocariad · 26/12/2020 08:03

I agree with the post who said people whispering in front of you.

ruthieness · 26/12/2020 08:07

There seems to be differing opinions on whether to say goodbye to the host when leaving a party. If you are leaving “early” I think it is bad manners to draw attention to this even if you have a good excuse you should slip away quietly - otherwise other guests will start to think that they should be leaving too.

You can always phone the next day to say thank you!

Cantbelievelife · 26/12/2020 08:11

A friend of mine will make plans and if something better comes along cancel me...I try not to make plans with said friend

42isthemeaning · 26/12/2020 09:17

People addressing letters to mr and mrs with dh's first name, but not mine.Hmm

ProudAuntie76 · 26/12/2020 10:08

Based on another thread where the OP is being berated for not being grateful and where anyone who wouldn’t be is called “precious”...

I think it’s dreadfully rude to give people second hand gifts for birthdays and christmasses. Unless the person in question likes vintage etc items. In my opinion, an already worn and donated item of clothing is an insult and I wouldn’t dream of giving it to someone.

Charity shops aren’t even that cheap so the “maybe they are hard up this year” argument doesn’t fly. If it’s a toss up between a bobbled musty jumper or a box of celebrations then the chocolates,
or even a “I’m so sorry we can’t afford to do gifts this year”, would be less of an insult. If the reasons is “we are eco warriors and want to evangelise everyone else” then a charitable donation in our honour would be more more appreciated.

Serin · 26/12/2020 10:13

Kids sticking their tongues out.
It's not cute, it's horrible.
Sort it out Kate and William.
