Thoughts...?

Mentally ill? Money maker, batshit crazy, insightful?

Do you believe he honestly believes in the things he says? Why did he go down this path

@Funkypolar

The Great Reset is real though.

www.weforum.org/great-reset/

Build Back Better!

Yes.

I was baffled when I directed people to the UN website and WEF website and got told it was a conspiracy.

It’s not a very good conspiracy if it’s been on the official website of a prestigious organisation for many years.

Btw the poster asking about Alex Jones, don’t look him up unless you want to hear the Loudest Man Ever. I have no idea what he says because I can’t get past that.

I only knew of David Icke from the Terry Wogan interview. Then last year I heard about the lizards, mad.

Heatherjayne1972 · 16/12/2020 10:58

He had a ‘spiritual awakening’. Up a mountain and had the theories etc ‘downloaded’ there
My sister thinks he’s great. I think he’s a nut and actually quite a dangerous nut

hamstersarse · 16/12/2020 11:11

To be fair though, the first Joe Rogan interview with Alex Jones will ALWAYS be incredible for it's pure bonkersness

Happy to say I don’t know who that is! 😂
pigsDOfly · 16/12/2020 11:33

Goodness, is he still around?

I remember when he first started spouting his version of the truth a good number of years ago.

He was brought out and given air time on all the chat programmes at the time.

There was no such thing as conspiracy theories then, and he just came across as mentally ill, rambling and nonsensical.

Most of his talk was about how aliens had landed on our planet and colonised it, if I remember correctly.

It seemed to me, at the time, that he was pretty much being wheeled out so people could have a laugh at his expense; actually felt quite sorry for him.

About years ago, more? Jon Ronson wrote a book called THEM. It was topical and featured assorted loons and their distorted beliefs, amongst them, Alex Jones. When I looked it up on Amazon about 5 years ago, it was concerning to see it at the top of the list of most popular religious books. Not what Ronson intended or foresaw. Me neither. But look what's followed. Fingers crossed that Joe Biden can pull US back from the brink.

longwayoff · 16/12/2020 11:38

FindHungrySamurai · 16/12/2020 11:46

@Crystalclair

A lot of what he says seems ridiculous. I'm certainly not suggesting I believe everything. However, my point is that as crazy as he sounds, if someone had predicted 2020 a year before, we'd all be saying that they were crazy too, right?

This year has taught me that anything is possible!!!

If you’d told me that there was a major new pandemic coming from China, SARS like and of animal origin but that this time it wouldn’t fizzle out but would spread worldwide because it was easily transmissible in a lengthy pre-symptomatic stage and hence extremely difficult to control then I’d have said “yes, of course a big pandemic is inevitable in my lifetime, everyone who’s looked into it at all knows that we can’t get lucky forever”.

If you’d said that in order to control the pandemic and stop healthcare systems from going into complete meltdown while a vaccine/treatment is produced all Western governments would implement sweeping quarantine measures which the population would broadly comply with because they understand the necessity, then I’d say “Wow, scary! Makes sense though.”

Nothing about this scenario is implausible.

Why would they classify that as “religious”?
LolaSmiles · 16/12/2020 11:55

The problem is that conspiracy theorists rely on having a tiny shred of plausibility in their version of events and then they build entire narratives around it.

For example, is it plausible that the wealthy elite and powerful people were/are able to get away with sexual abuse? Of course it's plausible because if you put any group of people on a pedestal, don't ask too many questions and allow them to be exempt from basic safeguarding then you're creating a culture where children get harmed. Abusers find ways to abuse. Does that mean that there's a global satanic cult with a focus on ritual child abuse? Probably not.

dottiedodah · 16/12/2020 11:59

Well hes certainly made some cash out of it! 20 mil and counting at last estimate apparently. The thing here is he can say what he believes to be true ,and some things seem quite convincing at first sight! However believing Humans can transfer into Lizards is stretching it to say the least! As the former head of Australia ,Tony Abbot replied when DI accused him of being a reptile " Well when I need to call in at the Doctor next ,I will check with a Vet as well!"

hamstersarse · 16/12/2020 13:02

This is the Joe Rogan interview with Alex Jones

25 million people have watched it on YouTube

Many millions more have listened to the podcast version.

It is totally bonkers but not as scary as people think

hamstersarse · 16/12/2020 13:07

I'm interested in the whole thing that people who accuse others of being conspiracy theorists then go on and misrepresent these people with conspiracy like claims about them.

David Icke, to be fair to him, is actually quite badly represented. The whole lizard thing is really exaggerated

It's a bonkers world

And I know people will accuse me of being supportive of David Icke by saying that. I am not saying that, I am saying that in order to have reasonable debate you can't misrepresent 'opponents'. People did that with Trump A LOT. You have to keep your own integrity in the argument otherwise....you are just as bad!

user1471565182 · 16/12/2020 13:25

Can we stop with the 'well hes right about some stuff so i respect him' shit please?

He just attaches himself to any and every theory out there. When something turns out to be true he then claims the credit.

user1471565182 · 16/12/2020 13:26

Also its a joke the fact that the right attaching their cart to all this anti semitic shit has just been ignored.

user1471565182 · 16/12/2020 13:28

Yes Crystalclair you are allowed an opinion. And we're allowed to say your opinion in nonsense.

longwayoff · 16/12/2020 13:28

@AcornAutumn, quite. The extreme religious Right in America believe so much weirdness that it can scarcely be described whilst clinging onto the last vestiges of your own sanity. So I won't attempt it. Ronson's writing about Alex Jones is light satire on the odd frat boy antics of the great and good at a country club (described years before by Armistead Maupin in one of his Tales of the City). This is translated by these latter day believers as evidence of the blood sucking devil worshipping satanists who rule us. And so on. Thats just a snippet. They think it's a Revelation.

user1471565182 · 16/12/2020 13:41

The Great Reset is a far right (and as usual, jew hating) conspiracy theory.

This is the only Great Reset I know of

user1471565182 · 16/12/2020 14:19

Yes, they take legitimate ideas from places like the UN and turn it into conspiracy theories. They have done since the NWO of the 90s

theintercept.com/2020/12/08/great-reset-conspiracy/

Facelikearustytractor · 16/12/2020 14:34

Not keen on shouty conspiracy theorists. Just spread fear. Don't trust government either though as they are usually making money out of a crisis and I do feel they also project fear and take advantage of it.

It is sad that wherever you look it is almost impossible to find facts. Everywhere us corrupt, but someone shouting at me about lizards doesn't change that. If we want a better world we just need to help each other and not need these people, then they become redundant. I know you shouldn't assume that powerful people are out for themselves, but I think quite a large proportion of them are narcissistic and are in their chosen profession for reasons other than altruistic ones!

Nonamesavail · 16/12/2020 14:35

Hes a fucking lunatic.

Givemeabreak88 · 16/12/2020 14:37

Well tbh if someone told me this time last year masks would be mandatory and it would be illegal to have people in your house or mix with other households I would have thought they were mad as well.

Facelikearustytractor · 16/12/2020 14:43

It's also sad that anyone opposing or mistrustful of the government are branded a tinfoil hat wearer. We aren't, you need balance in any arguement. Being completely trustful and accepting of what ever is thrown at you is just as dangerous as not trusting anyone and filling in blanks with any old crap you read on Facebook.

I think the conspiracy theorists and the elitist bad guys they warn us "sheeple" about are part of the same team, and a lot of my friends and family agree with me on this. A confused and divided nation is a weak and depressed one that can't strive or progress. I thought that was obvious to a lot of people.

Lonelycrab · 16/12/2020 14:54

Plenty of people oppose and mistrust the government, of course that doesn’t make them tin foil hat wearers, I don’t think you’ve thought that sentence through.

Calling out obvious bs ie 5g nonsense or flat earthers or Chem trailers is completely different to “opposing” the government.
