Thoughts...?

Mentally ill? Money maker, batshit crazy, insightful?

Do you believe he honestly believes in the things he says? Why did he go down this path

@TragedyHands

I think some of what he says is true. A bit too far with the lizards though. There again, not sure of the source but heard that the lizard comment was reported out of context.
I watched an interview , don't remember with who but think either on London Real or Valuetainment where the guy asked David directly about lizard people- David's reply was unambiguous whereby confirming that the royal family and other elites are physically lizards who often shapeshift mostly at "special events" such as Satanic sacrifices, etc. He could not be more clear about it

I've sadly had to spend about a year of my life locked up in a mental hospital. I've been as I'll as him and seen many people as ill. Unfortunately for Ike (And Kanye West) they have a platform on which to feed their illness and the more people agree the more it carries on. Of course some of what he says is true, he's not stupid he's just ill so he will mix fact with fiction. That's what makes it beliveable to him and others. I came up with some brilliant work when I'll alongside so truely fucking mental ideas

OutComeTheWolves · 15/12/2020 23:40

A friend shared a clip on Facebook of Icke's son speaking at a rally. His son was very charismatic and a very good public speaker. Watching him did make me think he genuinely believed what he was saying.

minty133 · 15/12/2020 23:40

@Whatsthename

I think he knows certain things to be true and buries them in bullshit so he can say them without repercussions. Eg he says the Queen is a lizard, he says Jimmy Saville is a pedophile, he says he says climate change is a hoax. No one believes any of them. If JS (when he was alive obviously) had sued DI, everyone would've then believed it because why else sue someone who says such nonsense that no one believed unless it's true.

I also think he's a bit weird, likes being the centre of attention and likes being known as being a bit weird.

But JS was a pedophile?! Hmm

He had a breakdown and appeared on a TV programme to publicise his delusions. This destroyed his career as a sporting commentator, he has stuck with some of the delusions, developed further fancies and earns a living from that, taking money from the gullible who love a snake oil salesman. I'm suprised he doesn't do laying on of hands.

Whatsthename · 15/12/2020 23:48

@minty133 that was exactly my point.

Lonelycrab · 15/12/2020 23:48

I think he’s nuts in one way to come out with some of this stuff in the first place....
But sane enough to know how to weave and milk it.

It smells of narcissism to me, maybe it’s populism but either way he knows how to tell people what they want to hear, and make himself look credible and rich at the same time too

alltoomuchrightnow · 16/12/2020 01:16

I thought he was an utter nutter and then read his books (I actually sold them at work and had time to read them one quiet week in winter)
To my surprise they made sense apart from the lizard people

malificent7 · 16/12/2020 05:03

The lizard thing alone is just nuts...I mean...why?
What is so weird about the royal family being actual humans? I mean why lizards and not another creature like chimps? I just dont get it!! Is he trying to say they are cold blooded?

nosswith · 16/12/2020 07:06

Someone who has successfully managed to make a living from books and talks and has found a niche.

He was quite good on Grandstand and but for injury could have had a reasonable football career, interestingly.

IndecentFeminist · 16/12/2020 07:10

He knows how to make money from being odd. 🤷 I know his family, and they are all firm believers...all work for the 'family firm'. He's just another conspiracy theorist who got a platform because he was moderately well known for something else, so people watched him out of curiosity. Now he (and the rest of the family) just know which side their bread is buttered.

crossstitchingnana · 16/12/2020 07:17

I have met him, in person. He cannot make eye contact and gives off a vibe. I wondered if there was a personality disorder on top of autism perhaps?

Sockmonster23 · 16/12/2020 07:17

Some stuff is crazy but no more than the Royal family pretend to go to church and pretend to believe that a talking snake bought sin in the world and that Jesus was born of a virgin and that they are Christians. Lizards no lol but their symbolism and belief that they have the divine right to rule (they pretend they do not) the royals have more power and rights then you could ever dream about. .

The Great reset is planned and happening , not a conspiracy, many in power are corrupt yes but also Epstein’s little trafficking circle is more widespread amongst rich and elites than you think. He isn’t far crazy with some stuff but I’ve often wondered if he Throws in the crazy crazy stuff to stop from being accidentally murdered. He worked for the BBC. I wouldn’t say he is sick but more insightful and gets some information that comes to pass.

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 16/12/2020 08:38

What is the great reset?
nosswith · 16/12/2020 10:18

I am reminded of the Jasper Carrott mentioning him in his act, and what if David Icke is the son of God!

Sbishka · 16/12/2020 10:24

I think he’s found the same niche as televangelists and is absolutely cashing in. I’m sure he’s a horrific manipulator and very financially shrewd. This stuff makes millions but you need to be a sociopath to put the work in.

longwayoff · 16/12/2020 10:34

Oh, whatsthe name, you've asked The Question. Be prepared.

I have two teenage boys (18 and 16) and they have both found him appealing at certain points of their exploratory life.

I think his appeal is when you are quite emotionally immature and trying to make some sort of sense of the world. He offers a very authoritative and confident explanation for all the weird happenings in a chaotic world - he brings order to chaos.

I have enjoyed both my ds going through their 'conspiracy theory' phases. It is healthy and fun to start questioning the world.

The problem is when people don't mature beyond this phase.

Funkypolar · 16/12/2020 10:50

Jon Ronson produced a documentary on Icke back in 2001 and concluded that he really did believe what he says. I was reminded of it listening to Louis Theroux’s interview with Ronson earlier this year, where he reiterates that he genuinely thinks that Icke believes his claims.

Whether it’s mental illness or something else, I don’t know, but I find it incredible how many people blindly hang on his every word - because, aside from the son-of-The-Godhead and lizard stuff - he says a lot of what they want to hear. Basically, that the world isn’t chaotic and out of control, but that there are a shadowy group of people carefully planning everything, towards whom they can direct their hatred and frustration. It also allows people to have a feeling of superiority over “the sheeple” who have dismissed Icke and so are not party to this important information.
