So ive not long woke up and decided to have a midnight snack, for some reason i was craving coco pops and remembered we had a box in the cupboard!

So i have gone and opened the box up and its full of snacks(no coco pops) some of the stuff is from the weekly shopping that i thought disappears quite quickly and stuff she obviously buys here and there!

Aibu to not mention to my wife i have found her hiding place for snacks and just help myself whenever i fancy a snack!

For example he ate half box of short breads in one afternoon. Big box. Me and the 2 kids shared the other half

I have a secret stash so I can...

a) eat in peace with no comments bring made about it being unhealthy.

b) eat without having to share or consider anyone else. It's a nice little break from constantly caring and providing for children and DH

c) enjoy having a little secret because I get no 'me time' and have no hobbies. I'm lucky if I even get to go to the loo in peace.

I think you need to ask yourself why your wife needs to hide her snacking from other people in the house. Is she being food shamed?

YANBU to not mention you know her secret, but YWBVVVVVU to eat her snacks!

It is the general way of things that mums give and give and give. It is the general way of things that dads and kids are more often on the receiving end of things. Not griping, just saying that is the general way of things. If we want something for ourselves, some little something that is ours, a secret stash is often the only way to have it. It isn't as if you found thousands of pounds stashed away in a box. LET HER HAVE THIS! Don't take them, don't mention it. Let her give a bit of something to herself, for herself, so that she has more to give to you of the bigger things.

Do you have children? I buy stuff for packed lunches but come Wednesday the children are left without because my husband has a sweet tooth. I always ask him what he wants and he then has his own as well as those for our girls. He's a bloody nightmare. They only have a little item each but even when I tell him who they're for he just laughs. I'm going to find a secret hideaway now.

I’m laughing at all the smug supercilious posters on here who think it’s strange/unnecessary to have a secret snack stash. There are only two reasons why you would have this attitude

1. Because you’re the fat bastard who hoovers snacks on sight. You couldn’t keep a stash if you tried because you’re such a greedy pig that you’d eat it all before you got it home from the shop.

1. You’re lucky enough to live with the likes of us, who eat our snacks in sensible amounts at sensible intervals and who leave enough for others.

Joking aside though, my DS will hoover up anything he finds, even when he knows it’s mine and I’ve hidden it. My sister was the same when I was growing up. It’s really shit living with someone who does that, it makes you feel as if you don’t matter.

My mum is a chocoholic, growing up we all had to hide any chocolates from her, by her request. She told us that if she sees them she'll eat them. Therefore I've always had a secret stash!
Fast forward to 50+ year old me - husband is a greedy sod so I NEED a secret stash. Yesterday we were gifted a big bag of Quality Street (we don't live in the UK, nice chocolates are very rare here), before my husband saw them I divided the bag equally between us. His lasted 10 minutes, I ate 2 of mine. I can enjoy one each night before bed, if I hadn't separated them I'd have nothing!
