To ask what is your 'side hustle' and how much do you earn?

I need to preface this with apologising for using the term 'side hustle'. I know it is hated by many Grin

I work part time but over the years I have supplemented my income with various side hustles. Cleaning, buying and selling, cake decorating, etc. Now I tutor and earn about 350 a month extra.

What is your side hustle if you have one and how much do you earn each month from it?

@Littleraindrop15

what is low level casino ??
These are casino offers on online gambling sites that are considered low risk. When you do casino offers as an extension of matched betting you look for offers that tip the odds slightly higher in your favour. That’s not to say they are risk free, because casino rarely is, but they are offers where the risk of losing a lot of money is low - things like “wager £10 get 20 free spins”.

@Wingingthis I don’t really want to say exactly what it is otherwise everyone will want to do it. But I will say this.. i have tried a few different things in the past which although I enjoyed, the time taken to make it wasn’t worth the money (ie. cake making!)
After trying various products, I settled on something that was easy to make, and many variations.
It’s a bit repetitive at times but the creative side is wonderful.
My one top tip for anyone wanting to make, sell and actually make money... make what what people actually want (by researching) and not what you like or want to make!

@PetertheWalrus

Pulling up the cushions on sofas in my friends' and my relations' houses. Average income £0.75 per annum. Tax free.
OMG Peter, you must be losing a fortune not being able to get round there so often due to the virus. And I hope you also declare any odd Cheesy Wotsits and safety pins you discover against tax.

I used to transcribe audio and then I moved on to captioning videos. It made me about £100 a week but it was tough and time consuming work.

Hoppinggreen · 12/12/2020 23:35

I work 25 hours a week in Pharma reg affairs.
I also earn about £500 per month doing candidate assessment for a very large PS organisation, all virtual this year which is great as if it wasn’t I couldn’t do it along side my main job.

Isthatitnow · 12/12/2020 23:36

Tutoring. I earn anywhere between £2 -£5k annually after tax. So far earned £300 this financial year. Good job it is a side hustle!

I have 2 Etsy shops, one for vintage costume jewelry ( 1960-1990 bangles, brooches etc) and the other for crystals/gemstones/fossils. It's been a hobby while the kids were young.

This year I've been working on the crystal side of things, selling on Amazon Prime. I'm up to £500-700 profit a month, but it's all being reinvested until I get to the point where I'm at capacity for the hours I have available to work.

And yes I do my tax returns...

I enter online competitions. I've made about £650 from stuff I've won and sold on, and also won a lot of stuff that I've kept/used (Shark hoover, Ninja kitchen appliances, three course lunch at local posh restaurant, £50 voucher for the hair salon I go to, afternoon tea, gin, jewellery etc).

I just enter them cos they're fun and it gives me something to do while I watch tv Grin

flowery · 12/12/2020 23:45

Coaching HR professionals. I only have room for a few because I am too busy with my actual job. I usually invoice about £750 a month for it.

Occasional paid writing for the CIPD, my professional body.

Also I suppose sitting on employment tribunals is another side hustle. I get paid a lot less for that than I do for anything else!

Mybedislisting · 12/12/2020 23:47

Just waiting for some boss babe to come on and try to sell us skinny coffee or shite mascara from the latest MLM Hmm

Bridecilla · 12/12/2020 23:49

I'm crafty and sell some bits but I'm time poor and won't make anything I don't like so not much ££

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 12/12/2020 23:51

I used to work as a translator as I can speak French, German and Spanish as well as English.

LindaEllen · 12/12/2020 23:52

My Amazon business started out as a side hustle this year (right at the start, when we were blissfully unaware about what 2020 would turn into).

Then my business went to shit and I decided to focus a bit more on the side hustle.

It makes me £2k profit a month now, and will continue to grow so long as I continue to put the work in.

CaveMum · 12/12/2020 23:53

Those of you that do online competitions and the like, which sites do you use?

Smallsteps88 · 12/12/2020 23:54

itswonkylampshade · 12/12/2020 23:55

What’s matched betting?

chillimartini · 12/12/2020 23:56

Following Thanks

Time40 · 12/12/2020 23:59

I'm an interfering busybody and poke my snout into discussions on the web. It doesn't pay well

But @PigletJohn, we all love you and we value your brilliant advice! People on here put out calls for you when they're stuck. I'd certainly pay for your advice - maybe you could make advising people into a side hustle?

CaveMum · 12/12/2020 23:59

@itswonkylampshade have a look at the video on this page about matched betting.

Littleraindrop15 · 13/12/2020 00:04

what do you sell if you don't mind me asking

Time40 · 13/12/2020 00:04

@mrsbyers

I hope everyone is declaring their extra income for tax where appropriate

Oh, for goodness' sake.** So boring ....

**this is old-style for "ffs". I'm not a ffs sort of person, but in this case I feel rather ffs.

Legalhelp · 13/12/2020 00:09

@Catwoman1985 Would love to go that..how do you even begin with it all?

AddisonM · 13/12/2020 00:10

Freelance accountant here. About £1 -2 k per month. I also have a day job in an accountancy firm

How are you allowed to do that? I’m a solicitor with a large firm. In my area of specialty there is tonnes of stuff I could do on the side e.g writing articles for professional bodies or delivering training m but I’m not allowed to do that without it all belonging to the firm (and they’d take the money for it too!)
