To be unreasonably annoyed at Royals at the pantomime

Gigheimer · 11/12/2020 23:24

I post knowing I’m totally unreasonable (probably) and you’ll all shout but I got both angry and sad and rage at seeing the press stories of Kate and Wills at the pantomime in the West End.

I’m normally a fan, and of course I don’t begrudge those cute kids a pantomime.

But my kids don’t get that this year, no Santa experiences, no pantomime no fucking nothing because we are tier 3 and if our local pub or theatre ever open again I’ll die of shock.

But we are in the North so who gives a fuck right?

I just have the absolute unreasonable fury tonight.

I'm in Tier 2, loads of Santa visits / light shows / pantos to choose from for those who want it. Why not. I don't see an issue with anyone who wants to attend. The arts industry has suffered enough this year. I don't see why anyone should begrudge someone else's joy at this time of year especially after everything this year has thrown at us.
My simple pleasure was singing carols with the congregation outside our church this evening in the dark as we're still not allowed to sing indoors.

Despite what many anti royals like to tell themselves they do actually work for a living

HAHAHA

Especially Andrew, he must be fucking knackered, poor bastard!

StoneofDestiny · 13/12/2020 21:02

It wasn't a piss take at all. It was to honour the key workers that carried this country through the worst year of many of our lifetimes!!

Rubbish - that's what their stated aim was, but they could have reached more people effectively by just making a speech, and underlined the 'keep safe' message. Parading around as they did was like they were drumming up customers for the NHS!

Yes - and poor Charles, his apprenticeship is taking so long!

TheWichitaWineOne · 13/12/2020 21:17

I also think this is a thinly veiled attack on Wills and Kate

What's with the 'thinly veiled'? I'll have to start trying harder.

Grin Cheers for that one.

And it's a bit haterzgonnahate to pretend that anyone who thinks that William and Kate are about as impressive and inspirational as a toe nail clipping must be 'jealous.' It's tired and silly.

Work? HAHAHAHAHA, Yes..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Maybe ask the people the Royals met what they thought.

There's a chance they thought it was a good thing to do.

PicsInRed · 13/12/2020 21:30

what many anti royals like to tell themselves they do actually work for a living

Technically, technically, they actually don't work for a "living" - they work for continued access to and upkeep of various Royal palaces and associated perks.

They derive their "living" from the returns on their personal investments, being each independently wealthy in their own right.

They'll never be doing a part-time shift down Waitrose, school hours. 😂

StoneofDestiny · 13/12/2020 21:39

Maybe ask the people the Royals met what they thought

Or maybe ask the ones who saw nothing of that 'tour' and who thought it was a insult when they wished people just stayed at home as advised.

pleasehelpwi3 · 13/12/2020 22:18

You see- some people on this thread still seem to think they actually work. They don’t work, they pick and choose some random charity events to go to for which you and I pay them millions of quid a year out of our taxes.

pollymere · 13/12/2020 22:28

We have panto here. Maybe go during the five days?

StoneofDestiny · 13/12/2020 23:22

pleasehelpwi3

Correct - they have the longest holidays, the longest maternity ‘leave’ (leave from what you might ask) and none of them have stuck at any proper job full time - William - part time occasional search and rescue, Kate - done nothing since she married, Charles still on his apprenticeship and Edward and Sophie - made pigs ears of trying to do a job professionally. Less said about Airmiles Andrew and Fergie the better.

StoneofDestiny · 13/12/2020 23:24

We have panto here

Whole country is having a panto what with no deal Brexit and Royal pantomime horses on the loose

roxanne119 · 13/12/2020 23:26

It’s not there fault your in the tier your in and there in the tier their in is it . Get over yourself it’s one year . Hopefully everything will be back to normal next year. Perhaps you’d be better looking around you as to why your in the tier your in . It’s not Kate and Williams fault or their children’s is it . I found it lovely to see their little faces on the telly . I’ve had to be really careful since the beginning of this but I’m not blaming anyone it’s just the way it is for now ☹️

Theredjellybean · 13/12/2020 23:32

To all saying they should have been there as it was a charity event for nhs workers and THEIR children.. Forgive I missed the memo about Kate and wills going to medical school or nursing school or working as a hospital porter.
That was five seats in the Royal box they could have let some family have.. A family with parents who have worked in the front line of the pandemic.
How much better if they had donated the Royal box to a deserving family and sent a video message wishing the cast good luck.
To me it looked so selfish...

StoneofDestiny · 13/12/2020 23:53

It was selfish - another freebie

blueberryporridge · 14/12/2020 00:03

Get off the fucking royal train, stop going round the country spreading God knows what and just STAY THE FUCK AT HOME like we’re all having to. Go and thank people in six months when there’s less chance of killing them.

This, exactly.

BengalGal · 14/12/2020 00:29

We are tier two in England and there is panto in our small town near Cambridge. Tickets are few as it’s super social distanced and no intermission. No pubs or anything. There is also a community movie theatre open in the same low occupancy way but the commercial ones don’t bother. Personally I don’t get angry if others are able to do things I can’t. Life isn’t fair and everyone is trying to find a balance between living and keeping people safe from Covid.

RoseMartha · 14/12/2020 00:57

I am in tier two and there are no panto etc here either. It is disappointing but nothing we can do about it.

The whole thing is getting me down now, i just try and take one day at a time.

deardeers · 14/12/2020 01:32

I feel sorry for them, they have to go out in the COVID to show support plus take their kids.

I would rather stay away from risky theatres

YABU

eeyore228 · 14/12/2020 06:08

Sorry but I’ve gone with YABU. There are places in Birmingham putting on Panto amongst another places. So W&K went with their kids. Oh no. I’ve got two children who would love to go but ours aren’t open and I’m not bothered. People are feeling enraged about a whole lot at the moment. It’s sad

randoID · 14/12/2020 06:24

I would Just like to add - although am fairly sure will be roasted.

That if Harry and Megan did this the uproar would be full of the same old racist undertones that nobody seems to be willing or able to acknowledge incredulous.

Gooseysgirl · 14/12/2020 06:40

Sorry NRTFTbjt completely agree with @Theredjellybean. I'm not usually hugely critical of W&K, but I felt very uncomfortable about this when I saw it. It would have been sufficient for PW to turn up alone or send a video message to the audience. At a time when covid cases are rocketing across London, I just don't think it was it was the best idea in the world...
