OH thinks I'm a nutcase 😂

But in my defence...It's so pretty! It's from not on the high street.

Normally I'd buy from a normal shop but all the sets have been a bit rubbish this year and i have this weird thing where there has to be a colour scheme (I know I'm a lunatic)

This isn't for DD present by the way. She wouldn't give a shit if I wrapped them in tin foil 😅

This is for family presents.

And if someone gives me a gift wrapped in nice paper I'd definitely refuse it.

HitthatroadJack · 10/12/2020 13:23

As above, if you can afford it why not.

I wouldn't, I prefer to spend money on the gift itself, but so what. What's the point if you can't splash on something that makes you happy from time to time, it doesn't matter if it's your nails, advent calendar costing 100s.

I happily pay for NOT having to wrap the presents myself, who cares if it's not cost effective Grin

Reuse it! Reuse. Ffs! Blush

HitthatroadJack · 10/12/2020 13:24

it sounds much more friendly Grin

I accidentally pressed YANBU, oops.
I buy mine in Waitrose post Xmas for a £1 or less a role for lovely paper but each to their own.
I'd rather spend a fiver and do something more meaningful with the other 40 quid.

Meepmeeep · 10/12/2020 13:25

Posting your wrapping paper is ‘outing.’ FFS I’ve seen it all here now.

scrivette · 10/12/2020 13:27

I hope I am one of your friends, I love to get a beautifully wrapped parcel.

It's more than I would spend - I buy all of mine in the January sales, but if you can afford it then go for it!

Spied · 10/12/2020 13:28

With such extravagantly and beautifully wrapped parcels are your recipients a little disappointed when they unwrap and find a box of £1 chocolates?Grin
Or are your gifts equally as opulent?

HitthatroadJack · 10/12/2020 13:28

not outing as such possibly, but if you know family members are on MN and you forgot to change your user name before posting...Is it worth the risk?
grapewine · 10/12/2020 13:29

Yes, that's bonkers.

CorianderQueen · 10/12/2020 13:30

If it's the one I've found it's not that nice. £5 nice, yes, £45? Not even closed

chipsandpeas · 10/12/2020 13:31

45 quid to pretty much go in a recycling bin - you are nuts

trollopolis · 10/12/2020 13:31

At the end of the day, it's your money to spend his you wish.

But I could not bring myself to spend that much on something so very ephemeral.

And tbh nor would I post about it during a time when so many people are in very straitened circumstances. But don't worry in RL- no-one will be able to tell it was ridiculously over-priced

Sirzy · 10/12/2020 13:32

Would the recipients really know it was £45 wrapping paper rather than 45p?

Personally even if I could afford it I would struggle to justify it.

Iwantacookie · 10/12/2020 13:34

Aldi 99p a roll and it has lines printed on the other side which makes cutting so so much easier.
Personally ide prefer you to spend less on paper and chuck a few boxes of malteasers in there too but it's your money so go for it.

Bluesheep8 · 10/12/2020 13:34

Mine was £2.99 from Aldi for 4 rolls, ribbon and gift tags.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/12/2020 13:34

I get mine in Asda.

It all sounds delightfully bonkers to me.

Lowhangingfruit · 10/12/2020 13:35

Gift bags, all the way. Saves the swearing and stress of wrapping.. more time for champagne 🥂🍾

Lowhangingfruit · 10/12/2020 13:36

We still have gift bags on rotation that have been going for 5yrs around the family Grin

HitthatroadJack · 10/12/2020 13:40

And tbh nor would I post about it during a time when so many people are in very straitened circumstances.. Hmm

Funny how people decide when other people's hardship must be taken into account, and when it doesn't matter and you can ignore them.

1forAll74 · 10/12/2020 13:40

I don't think the recipients of gifts, will care one jot, about fancy and expensive wrapping paper. I would just give them the expensive wrapping paper as a gift with those kind of prices.

UnholyConfessions · 10/12/2020 13:41

I have reusable wrap and paper gift bags that are a few years old. It’s become a bit of a joke me and a friend gift each other something in the same gift box. I have it this year to gift to her and I’ll get it back next year 🤣

Inthemuckheap · 10/12/2020 13:41

I could easily but wouldn't out of principle. What's the point when it just gets ripped off and junked. It's recyclable if someone takes all the tape off but they usually don't both so it's binned.

LindaEllen · 10/12/2020 13:42

If you can afford it, go for it. I mean, I wouldn't spend that much (but then again I'm having to count coppers at the moment!), but if you want to, it's your money.

I bet you don't get as much as you'd get on a £1 roll from a supermarket though!

Frenchdressing · 10/12/2020 13:42

Knock yourself out but only if it recyclable
