OH thinks I'm a nutcase 😂

But in my defence...It's so pretty! It's from not on the high street.

Normally I'd buy from a normal shop but all the sets have been a bit rubbish this year and i have this weird thing where there has to be a colour scheme (I know I'm a lunatic)

This isn't for DD present by the way. She wouldn't give a shit if I wrapped them in tin foil 😅

This is for family presents.

@AliceMcK

I wouldn’t care how much money I had, £45 on a bit of paper that will be ripped apart and binned within minutes is a complete wast of money. I don’t care how nice it looks, you can buys lots of nice wrapping paper for a couple of pounds.

Maybe you would have been far better pulling a couple of names off the tescos gift tree and buying children in need of gifts something. Even filling a collection bin with toys or food.

This is very very entitled!

Do you know what entitled even means😂😂
GrumpyHoonMain · 12/12/2020 22:38

Just get brown wrapping paper, a bit of twill, some nice ribbon and I guarantee your gifts will look really expensive. You don’t need to spend £45 on it!

eggandonion · 12/12/2020 22:50

I open things wrapped in brown paper in work, I prefer something more jazzy on my presents!

FangsForTheMemory · 12/12/2020 22:55

@TheSilentStars Ah, you got me. I mean I do more but now I can’t tell you. I’ll just hug the knowledge to myself then.

RoseMartha · 12/12/2020 22:57

Seems a bit nuts to me but if it is in your budget then fair enough.

Have spent nothing this year (again), as I had some left over from the jan sales in 2018.

TheWichitaWineOne · 12/12/2020 23:02

the people who don't feel the need to tell anybody else what they do for charity, do a lot more for charity than those who do

Yes, absolutely always the case.

Or, obviously, total bollocks. One of the two I guess.

IdblowJonSnow · 12/12/2020 23:11

Yabu that's insane.
If you've so much spare cash please consider donating some to a charity! Xmas Shock

Iamthewombat · 12/12/2020 23:17

How do you know that she doesn’t donate to charities?

Do you give every penny that you don’t spend on essentials to charity?

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 12/12/2020 23:19

As I've said earlier in the thread for the last 2 years I've used brown paper. This year I wanted something different.

I couldnt find anything cheaper that i liked and I looked everywhere I could think of.

Wrapping presents so that they are aesthetically pleasing, to me when they're under my tree, and to the people I give them to, makes me happy.

I have had very little to be happy about this year and actually one thing in particular that has had me crying most days since August.

This obviously makes me a cunt who doesn't care about poor people or give any money to charity 🤷‍♀️

Yanbu as long as it’s recyclable. Anyone who isn’t recycling their wrapping paper is BVU

Iamthewombat · 12/12/2020 23:22

I’m sure that you are smart enough not to take any of the nonsense personally, OP!

Happy Christmas.

SameToo · 12/12/2020 23:22

I thought NOTHS just sold tat. Still think that.

I doubt I’d ever take note of the paper a gift was wrapped in but spend what you like 🤷‍♀️

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 12/12/2020 23:23

And by the way before anyone else says I'm bragging about how much money I have, I earn £900 a month. Hardly bragging about how rich I am. It's a luxury.

Even people in low paid jobs are allowed the odd luxury

OP posts:
GintyMcGinty · 12/12/2020 23:23

What a waste of money.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 12/12/2020 23:25

@sametoo it's not for other people really. It's for me. It's for how happy wrapping presents in nice paper makes me feel. Christmas music, A glass of wine and wrapping presents I've put a lot of thought into, in paper I like.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 12/12/2020 23:25

@iamthewombat

Merry Christmas to you too 😊

OP posts:
Iamthewombat · 12/12/2020 23:29

What a waste of money.

It’s the OP’s money. Buying the beautiful paper (and it is!) makes her happy. She is allowed to spend her own money on what she likes, irrespective of whether you think it’s a waste.

Incidentally, for the next person who thinks the paper cost £45 per roll and £21 for delivery, despite being repeatedly told otherwise by the OP:

It cost £2 per sheet and £2.99 for delivery.

The paper cost £2 per sheet, not £45 per roll.

The delivery of the paper cost £2.99, not £21.

PetertheWalrus · 12/12/2020 23:29

If I found out that so much had been spent on wrapping my present I'd be livid. That money could have gone towards a better present! [gift]

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 12/12/2020 23:50

@Peterthewalrus - see the post above yours.

You'd be livid about an extra £2 or maybe even £0.50 depending on the size of the present?!

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 12/12/2020 23:50

If the answer is yes, I suggest anger management

Yabu
£45 is beyond ridiculous

TheWichitaWineOne · 12/12/2020 23:58

This obviously makes me a cunt who doesn't care about poor people or give any money to charity

Which no one has said, but anyway. What's the problem? You've got most of the thread cheering you on. You posted in AIBU, you know you'll get people who disagree and - Heavens to Betsy - might offer a critical POV.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 13/12/2020 00:02

It has, however, been implied throughout.

OP posts:
TheWichitaWineOne · 13/12/2020 00:11

OP, you've been stirring the waters when it comes to your critics, and you've been happy to jolly along the comments for 15 pages that critique any detractors.

Some people think it's not impressive, so what? Like I say, you've got loads of people saying you're crazy-awesome, go girl, wrap that shit in gold. Or something.

Just not quite everyone.

But it's AIBU, it was never going to be.
