No no no, smoked salmon and scrambled egg on a toasted bagel. Homemade bucks fizz to drink.

Elledouble · 10/12/2020 16:59

Growing up I always thought pork pie was the traditional Christmas Day breakfast. Turns out it’s just my family! Never heard of having fish fingers though.

Lowhangingfruit · 10/12/2020 17:00

Well I can't see it on the daily mail, though the comments could be interesting. Hmmm I think I can say they are definitely not on the side of the angels 🤣

Well they got that wrong. It wasn't me who wanted it, was the in-laws 🙂. Nice to know accurate reporting at its finest

Oh, it must just have been the Mirror one I saw! It was recommended for me on Facebook and I swore it was daily mail then...
Either way, you're famous for sparking outrage Grin

Muwhahha. I'm so tempted to put on the FB page as a shock horror but I might get into trouble with DP... Grin

It’s on the Liverpool Echo too!

Absolutely no to FF for breakfast.... I feel your pain with weird in law Xmas habits, mine don’t have pigs in blankets but do have pickles(?!!!)

Buck’s Fizz and pork pie here on Xmas morning with chocolate coins out of the stockings and whatever chocolate is floating round. I have got some reindeer shaped crumpets this year though so the children will have those!

glas14368 · 10/12/2020 17:45

Wow, that's an unusual breakfast any time of the year. And who wants to open Xmas presents accompanied by the odour of fish.

I would start a new tradition if I were you

IliveonCoffee · 10/12/2020 17:49

I'm slowing establishing my traditions but this is not the one I'm picking!!!

I've started with croissants with prosciutto and brie for breakfast. Basically a posh bacon and cheese. Can literally throw in the oven to warm through as nothing needs cooking. Chuck in a little rocket and cranberry sauce, champagne flutes of bucks fizz on a tray, and go prod dp to wake up!

CremeEggThief · 10/12/2020 17:51

YABU. Never heard of anyone having this for Christmas breakfast before!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 10/12/2020 17:52

No. The only reasonable thing to eat on Christmas morning is the chocolate from your selection box, followed by a fried egg and/or bacon butty.

nocoolnamesleft · 10/12/2020 17:56

Pain au chocolat if being lazy, cinnamon drop scones if I can be bothered.

Oblomov20 · 10/12/2020 17:57

We had fish finger sandwiches tonight. Haven't had them in ages. They were so yummy.
But no. It's not something I associate with Christmas Day.

PugInTheHouse · 10/12/2020 18:03

No, too big for breakfast on Xmas day. We have champagne and chocolate Grin

Fishfinger sandwiches are amazing though!

Streaky bacon and melted stilton on croissants is divine!

Grin we might have dinner later this year as there will only be the 4 of us so maybe we will try fishfinger sandwiches instead of a bit of our selection boxes!

Lowhangingfruit · 27/12/2020 16:19

Well the fish fingers never made van appearence 😄. Lobster tails and champers did. Plus no in-laws 👍👍

LoveMyKidsAndCats · 27/12/2020 16:28

Ooooo I love them! Not had 1 in ages. Not for xmas morn though. Fry up surely.

Sparklfairy · 27/12/2020 16:31

We have pigs in blankets and stuffing for Xmas breakfast - not Paxo, the slabs you buy Grin

PetertheWalrus · 27/12/2020 16:36

It's not a custom in our house OP but I see no reason why it shouldn't become one. Sounds brilliant!

Now I like a fishfinger sarnie, but never had on Christmas day.

DecemberDiana · 27/12/2020 16:47

No.

I always liked the pork pie idea, from the Midlands I think.

Usually have a satsuma and a mince pie.
