The difference is you own your house. The state owns the royal palaces, in essence they’re very grand social housing, not only for the royal family but for the staff who run them.

Sorry AngryCat. I obviously should have been more clear...

Are you Camilla? Why are you so angry? 😂
It's logical because he will be coming up to 80 or over and although his parents are still alive in their 90's, to have a new king be so old and frail and unable to do many of the jobs required (as both the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are) seems like a huge waste of money and will just feel like a wait until he dies. The monarch has been old for my entire life. If they want to gain any momentum and relevance in the public eye they need a more dynamic and visible leader and family.
It's what other countries have done. 
William and Kate are hardly ' dynamic ' They can barely rack up 200 engagements between them in a normal year. They did a few zoom meetings from their house and Kate pretended shecwas working while holding a telephone with a blank piece of paper in front of her!

By more dynamic, I meant more dynamic than Charles. Not more dynamic than anyone else in the country.

Because we’re fucking woeful when it comes for voting for anything. Let’s not invent something else to screw up.
Seriously? You enjoy being told what to do with no right to protest?

With that attitude we'll end up like North Korea*

In this section, the author has used a hyperbole. The intention is to evoke strong feelings in the reader and emphasise their point, however, in this particular example, the point is made too forcefully and exceeds the burden.

@AllTheUserNamesAreAlreadyTaken.

Greetings, bot. What's the weather like in Pyongyang?

DemolitionBarbie · 08/12/2020 07:38

No. Charles will hasten the end of the monarchy, and a good thing too.

Lardlizard · 08/12/2020 09:31

Pretty clear majority for the Queen then
Fair enough 🇬🇧

No, let him be a dad and husband a bit longer.

Samcro · 08/12/2020 09:53

@PhatPhanny

No, let him be a dad and husband a bit longer.
so if he is king he is not? why do people insist because he has kids he can't be king? its hardly like he is going off to war. so he should remain doing next to nothing just because he has a family?
OutwiththeOutCrowd · 08/12/2020 12:57

Yes, we should be insisting that pensioners take more of the strain! Wink

Prince Charles needs to step up to the plate.

And Stanley Johnson should really be offering to do PM duties, so Boris can concentrate on nappy changing and pram pushing.

EmilyinWolverhampton · 08/12/2020 13:15

The absolute omni-shambles this week show why William is not ready to be King. Everything he does is an embarrassment.

pigsDOfly · 08/12/2020 14:32

@PhatPhanny

No, let him be a dad and husband a bit longer.
Poor little lamb couldn't possibly cope with being a husband and father whilst doing a proper job. Unlike the majority of the rest of the men in the world.

So not only does he get to live rent free he also gets to be long term unemployed whilst living in the absolute lap of luxury.

What a life!

BananaPop2020 · 08/12/2020 15:47

The rose tinted view some on here have about the Royals is astonishing!

Gobbycop · 08/12/2020 16:12

Me first 😂

ivykaty44 · 08/12/2020 16:16

If we going to pick our king then let’s vote for it and get a president

PigletJohn · 09/12/2020 01:47

Poor sod would have to meet Buffoon Boris once a week.
