Just that. I rarely use Instagram but found myself scrolling Britney Spears account today. It’s incredibly unnerving. She is clearly very very unwell. I found some of her videos disturbing and hard to watch.

PS: I just googled her - she's 39. Her first album was released in 1998.

I liked her early stuff, but nothing after that really appealed to me. The lesbian kiss thing she did on stage with Madonna was attention seeking nonsense, but it's the sort of thing pop stars do, when they're desperate to stay in the headlines.

To the people who keep saying "if she's so ill why is she still touring, recording etc?" She isn't, for at least 2 years. I don't think it's at all unreasonable that she's not allowed to drive. We don't know what her mental illness is, or what drugs she's taking. People with Bipolar disorder can have their licence revoked on medical grounds in the uk.

I follow her Instagram and some things she posts up is even worse than what’s on there now but it gets deleted within the hour

I also don’t understand if she needs controlling in such a way but can successfully have a long term gig in Vegas

There's just a hundred pictures of her in a white top staring at the camera. To be honest she just looks like any other self obsessed celebrity to me.

We've seen so many times before how these things work in the US. If there any more money to squeeze out of her, that will come first and fuck her health and well being. Shes supposedly wanted to retire for years- she should have been allowed to after she lost custody of her children to concentrate on that part of her life. From what I gather she only has access to around $2000 of her own fortune a week. Theres a really good podcast that covers it (with legal aspects). I'll try to post it.

The 'dementia' thing is and complete bullshit. Funnily enough her dad decided she had that at age 25 just as he was looking into how he could claim legal responsibility over her money especially. She supposedly has a very, very rare form of dementia and by massive chance dementia is the only basis in the law of the State (California) that he could have such huge responsibility over her and her fortune.

They also made a big thing in court about how her fathers conservatorship has got her out of debt and up to 60million in value. Well why the hell is he pushing her to become worth 60 million again?

I don’t believe she’s posting on Instagram at all. I believe it’s someone else posting on her behalf to stop people asking questions. The whole thing is very weird. If you notice she wears the same 2/3 outfits in every post suggesting that a lot of the photos etc are taken in one session and posted weeks/months apart. Very odd.

It’s so sad. She's obviously not very well, I too think she's stuck in the 00's, she dresses in those fashions a lot of the time (the super low rise jeans and cropped tops, it's so 00's). What a difficult life she must have had.

I'm perfectly serious. I know she's rich beyond all of our wildest dreams but would you swap your life for hers? I wouldn't.

I would call it hard being chased by hundreds of paps to the point that you nearly trip and drop your small baby, whilst being pregnant with your second and trying to take shelter in a little cafe in the hope that the owner would help you until the police arrived - and finding instead that they laugh and take photos of you to sell sitting there in tears. Google it, shit like that happened. There's many photos out there and that's just one incident that I can recall reading about off the top of my head.

Having your children removed because you're mentally unstable? Sounds delightful!

Im not even a Britney fan but this case says so much about how the press and industry are willing to act like animals for a bit of money when theres somebody we should all be protecting at the centre.

Its the same with Michael Jackson- if his family or anybody had actually given a shit about anything except money when he was younger he probably wouldnt have turned into a sexual predator (although im not suggesting shes anything like that, I think she has Bipolar disorder as shes said a few times and is in the worst possible environment for it)

If you ctrl+F for my username on this thread it's in my first post - her younger sister Jamie Lynn's Instagram account and they're pics of Jamie's daughter with her now husband (daughter's stepfather).

Jamie Lynn herself got pregnant at 16 and the rumours are pretty horrible if you look into them (pervy TV producer rather than high school boyfriend).

Both girls - Britney and Jamie- were clearly put in situations they shouldn't have been at young ages. I just hope Maddie isn't also caught up in the cycle.

That industry (and pushy parents) do horrific things to young performers, there are very few child stars without their issues.

The music industry ruined her voice and any talent she may once have had by forcing her to sing in a higher register than was natural to her, they've destroyed her mental health and her as person. I wil never understand these parents who allow all this to go on and use their children as a cash cow. 'Showbiz' is littered with them.

I agree with you that dementia seems incredibly unlikely at her age. Frontotemporal dementia is very rare and tends to affect younger people but Britney would have been possibly the youngest on record to suffer, which again adds to the belief that she probably doesn’t have it. However, a judge has granted a lifelong conservatorship and it has been reviewed on several occasions (not sure if the same judge or not) along with a variety of doctors being involved in Britney’s care which means multiple people who are qualified to assess such things must believe that the conservatorship is in her best interests. It’s likely that her house is effectively a care home for one where she receives a high level of care and medication.

Dementia can cause people to neglect their personal appearance, behave inappropriately, language problems, mental problems etc. Frontotemporal dementia tends to cause memory loss at a much later stage, unlike Alzheimer’s. As an outsider, I can see many similarities between the behaviour the media/social media has documented of Britney and dementia so maybe in the early stage it was put forward as a possibility because she has so many traits and there is no single test to confirm. It’s also genetic so perhaps there is a family history that made it likely. It seems strange given her age if she was formally diagnosed back in 2008 but if she does have dementia that could also be the genuine reason why she is no longer performing.

There is a family history of being mentally unwell. Her paternal grandmother committed suicide long before she was born and it's well documented that her father physically abused her mother when she was a child and was/is an alcoholic with other substance abuse issues too. Even without the fame it's not a recipe for stability.

She isnt actually arguing about the conservatorship from what I recall, she just doesnt want her father having anything to do with it. She wants it moved over the the woman who held it while her father was ill for a couple of years.

Shes always said Bipolar disorder and I have no reason to disbelieve that- she was saying this years ago as well before it became such a big thing. That would tie in with the self destructive drug use. I dont think drugs caused her mental health breakdown on its own.

Ive lots of experience working with drug users and the only people who act that way because of drugs (and its not an exact match) seems to be young males who smoked a shit load of cannabis as adolescants and triggered something.

Of course thing can be both genetic and influenced by environment at the same time.
