I don't want my kids to be vegetarian

DC (15 & 13) have decided they want to go vegetarian. I don't want to go vegetarian and neither does DH, so they'd have to have different meals. I/DH don't want to be wasting time making 2 different meals whenever we want meat or fish, and we don't really have space for 2 people to be cooking at once. WIBU to say no?

So many veggies on hear putting people down that eat meat

They really aren’t.

I've read it, no one has put down meat eaters that I can see

Can you give an example? Nowhere have I seen this.

I hand read all of the comments.

Unlike you, I am not feeling superior, just very amused by the whole nonsense. You wouldn't eat veal if I served it to you, we get that. Your loss, it's delicious.

Yes we have. That's why we're confused because we can't actually see any vegetarians putting meat eaters down which is why we're asking for specific examples.

I don't feel superior. On the contrary, I suffer from very poor mental health and have been battling suicidal thoughts, panic attacks and self harm from a very young age. But this isn't the thread for that.
timeforanewstart · 05/12/2020 21:21

Saying about eating rotten flesh ?
It may be flesh
Also sly digs about it being morally better to be a vegeatarian

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 05/12/2020 21:22

There is however quite a very rude aggressive meat eater being goady on this thread but I notice that @timeforanewstart didn't lecture them about respecting other peoples choices. Funny that.

Meat is flesh though. Pointing that out doesn't mean they think they're better than anyone else.

Are you also going to lecture the rude meat eater on this thread about respecting other peoples choices?

Who has been taking about vegetarians being morally superior? I’ll give you a clue... it isn’t the vegetarians.

timeforanewstart · 05/12/2020 21:25

I didn't lecture anyone and it was described as rotting flesh , we don't eat rotten meat as we would be ill
I said i would fully support mine if they wanted to go vegetarian and I said no one should distespect someone elses choice

SingingInTheShithouse · 05/12/2020 21:25

YABVU to say no

frolicmum · 05/12/2020 21:26

@NoPainNoTartine I with you had responded to my post I posted earlier which isn't really about eating meat or veggie food but about other family values.

frolicmum · 05/12/2020 21:26

You were berating vegetarians on this thread for being rude and thinking they were better than anyone else.

Yet you completley ignored the very aggressive rude meat eater who has been making digs towards veggies throughout the whole thread. Why is that?

Campalumpa · 05/12/2020 21:28

Embrace it. We all need to stop eating meat otherwise our kids won’t have a long term future

This is a really mean and goady thing to say to a vegetarian.
sleepyhead1980 · 05/12/2020 21:29

Yes you would be unreasonable. You want fish or meat so they should eat it too?! What the actual?!!! Why are your desires more important than an ethical choice your children have made?! You should be proud and encouraging them, this most saddens me

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 05/12/2020 21:29

Can't you just make them generally the same thing but sub the meat for some form of veg or meat substitute.

timeforanewstart · 05/12/2020 21:32

@everyplanethasayorkshire same reason you Claimed not one vegetarian had put meat eaters down
All the talk of its morally better what does that imply about meat eaters then?
I agree the majority of vegetarians on this thread have been very helpful offering helpful suggestions on how op can adapt meals to suit all.
Maybe its because in real life I know a couple of vegetarians who are very rude to meat eaters and that clouds my judgement

timeforanewstart · 05/12/2020 21:35

@Campalumpa do you have a reliable source that states that
Also what happens to all the animals we do eat , do you think dairy cows will be kept by a farmer as pets if we all become vegan
I thought their was an argument for eating less not totally cutting out
