To be Freaked Out by Sainsbury's Doing This?

Has anyone else had a mailshot from Sainsbury's with a mini advent calendar of vouchers in it?

Apparently (according to this) I was the No. 1 top buyer of passata this year Shock

Really? In the whole of the UK? We're a family of 4, so we're not feeding the 5000 or anything...

I'm a bit freaked out that Sainsbury's think I want to know this.

And actually, I'd rather have a spreadsheet showing my ranking on all the other 750 different products I apparently bought this year! [boggles] (I did lockdown shopping for MIL and two other elderly neighbours Grin)

YANBU- we know companies do this, but don't flaunt it in our faces!
YABU- that's what you get for succumbing to 'loyalty' cards!
@PassataQueenofBritain our others were tender stem broccoli and strawberries.
Seriously healthy! Like you, though, I've a child that is v restricted, hence sweetcorn on that list- he eats it with every meal...but no other vegetables.

I was the second most prolific buyer of jarred red peppers at my Sainsbos last year. I have weirdly tried to sustain my position this year. The cupboard is full of the buggers.

HaudMaDug · 05/12/2020 13:35

I had this a with Sainsburys a couple of years ago. Voucher declared I was their top purchaser of 9 pack own brand quilted toilet roll in my area.
Not sure that could be correct as I live alone and buy a 9 pack once a month or maybe no one else buys that specific product.

Gingernaut · 05/12/2020 13:37

I got something like this, but it was for the store I went to most often.

I was the No.1 Italian Salad 80g bagged salad buyer for my local store.

Glitteryone · 05/12/2020 13:38

Omg competitive grocery shopping 🤣

I’m kind of annoyed I didn’t get an email like this from Sainsbury’s.

StopGo · 05/12/2020 13:39

I bet my sister and I are the top gin buyers. Oddly neither of us drink gin.

AcornAutumn · 05/12/2020 13:39

Wow
I reckon that’ll prompt a few to ditch their cards!

I use Aldi and pay cash. Sorted.

CatkinToadflax · 05/12/2020 13:40

I was apparently the third biggest purchaser of basil flavoured ravioli a few months ago. I’ve only bought it twice. Confused

loutypips · 05/12/2020 13:41

How much passata do you buy?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 05/12/2020 13:42

@PassataQueenofBritain oh bless him. Dd did eat a big tomato every day in lockdown. That was it on the fruit and veg front. My NT one is the olive monster though!

JacobReesMogadishu · 05/12/2020 13:43

I've had no such email.

Spotify however have told me that I'm in the top 0.5% of Twenty One Pilots listeners in the whole world. 😁. I may have that engraved on my tombstone.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 05/12/2020 13:45

Glittery it was an actual big card rather than an email. It has my name in festive lettering on the front Wink

Colycola · 05/12/2020 13:46

Starbucks skinny lattes, number one buyer in Chichester. I don’t live in Chichester.

Laiste · 05/12/2020 13:47

Thinking about it I imagine my top buy would be bread. We get through flippin' loads of it in this house. Daily - a whole white loaf (sandwiches) and apx a third of a seedy brown loaf. Then through the week we like a 'cutty bread' at some meals (tiger bread or such) and garlic bread/flat bread with anything with pasta and then we usually have fajitas one a week as well ....

I wouldn't want reminding of it via clubcards though.

EssentialHummus · 05/12/2020 13:47

I had one last year - top 5% most frequent visitors to my local store. In my defence I was a SAHM and DD and I somehow ended up there most days for the sake of getting out the house. It (perhaps unsurprisingly) made me shop there less.

101namesforme · 05/12/2020 13:48

Glad I don’t shop at Sainsbury’s. I think I would be horrified and rather embarrass to get the list of what I actually buy.

megletthesecond · 05/12/2020 13:50

It's better than an email. It's a neat Xmas card advent calendar.

Our top healthy stuff was tomatoes, strawberries (it was a good summer for them) and bistro salad.

TheDogisBarkingAgain · 05/12/2020 13:57

Someone on reddit shared they got this and were the top buyer of pigs in blankets this year.

Manolinette · 05/12/2020 13:58

I wish Sainsbury's would send mine in the format of a pie chart.

fishykettles · 05/12/2020 14:02

They haven't sent me one Sad

Maybe they are sulking because I've taken my custom elsewhere.

Saisong · 05/12/2020 14:07

I had Sainsbos No.1 local buyer of Guacamole once - and the sad thing is I probably bought just as much guac in Waitrose too (we eat at least 1 tub a week)

LittleRa · 05/12/2020 14:09

I also think it means you were the number 1 buyer of passata at your usual Sainsbury’s not in the whole U.K... although as you say, someone has to be the number 1 buyer in the U.K. Grin

gotyerhat · 05/12/2020 14:15

We were the top purchasers of lemons in our local sainsburys last year -bows-

Scbchl · 05/12/2020 14:23

Congratulations on your achievement 😂

Bonsai49 · 05/12/2020 14:27

They’ve not sent us one - actually quite disappointed ... I also see Sainsburies staff more than my family
