Peppa Pig

AIBU to think that she’s a bit of a dick? I’ve only seen a few episodes (by accident) and I’ve seen her being really rude to Daddy Pig for no reason and to that sheep she hangs out with. She’s pretty selfish and a bit of whinge bag.

Is it just me? I really hope she is long gone by the time DS wants to watch tv as she will be banned in this house, she does my head in!

Yep very whiny and the dad in it is an idiot but there are worse ones; I’ve had to ban a couple of other programmes as my DD copied how they spoke. It’s been popular for so long though that I don’t think it’s going anywhere

firstimemamma · 05/12/2020 09:30

Yes she's a pain! If what you've seen so far annoys you then do not watch the one where she visits daddy pig's office! I also dislike how she thinks she's the bloody best at everything.

Sciurus83 · 05/12/2020 09:35

Yeah I agree. I was pretty horrified at how Daddy pig is treated and the focus on his weight. The password to get in her tree house is Daddy's Fat Tummy and they all laugh at him pretty regularly for being fat. I think kids could easily get from it that it's OK to call someone a fat pig, funny even. I'm not sure why more people aren't talking about it, Peppa Pig is EVERYWHERE.

iklboo · 05/12/2020 10:24

The episode where Peppa puts the phone down on Suzy Sheep for being able to speak French is genius.

Otherwise she'd do well to have some boundaries set and her parents saying 'no' to her more often. Don't get me started on George skreiking every five minutes to get his own way. Surely Mummy Pig has a secret gin stash?

Oh, and we reckon Grandad Dog & Granny Pig had an affair, which is why Grandad Pig hates him & Grandad Dog is always taking the piss out of him.

Cutekittens · 05/12/2020 10:26

A right pain
Glad my dd didn’t take on her ways!

Dreamingofkfc · 05/12/2020 10:29

So true but better than Bing! He’s incredibly annoying

Pinkiii · 05/12/2020 10:32

Peppa pig and Bing are the most annoying characters, I don’t let my daughter watch them, Kids do get influenced by things they see and watch.

i think kids stuff should be educational and entertaining, for example i hate mr tumble but at least he teaches things (makaton, numbers etc), whereas Bing is constantly pronouncing words wrong and teaches nothing, same as Peppa pig.

BrumBoo · 05/12/2020 10:35

The episode where Peppa puts the phone down on Suzy Sheep for being able to speak French is genius.

It was whistling, not speaking French Grin.

I've grown to like Peppa, especially the later episodes that become a bit meta. Plus the Grandad characters are hilarious (especially Grampy Rabbit of course).

The only thing I dont like about it is how George is instantly great at everything. It sometimes gives the impression that boys are clever, instantly get any sport or trick, hold the important jobs etc. Only Miss Rabbit seems to consistently work out of the female characters, and she also happens to be the one that's not married or have kids. Its a bit off on that front.

Simplyunacceptable · 05/12/2020 10:35

I told everyone at rhyme time that I didn’t like Peppa Pig and they all looked at me like I was a total dickhead Grin. I can’t stand that programme. They completely bully Daddy Pig and he does the same job as my DH who most definitely isn’t stupid.

JanewaysBun · 05/12/2020 10:36

She's so spoiled. She awards herself first position when she is the judge of a fancy dress contest, is always belittling George.

She puts the phone down on suzie because she can whistle not speak French iirc

We watch her everyday Xmas Envy

custardbear · 05/12/2020 10:42

I used to hoot with laughter at peppa - it was my specialist mastermind subject ... had I applied to be a contestant!
Wink
I love the one where they are told to put a picture up by mummy pig and they wreck the house and themselves - I think perhaps I'm married to daddy pig 🤪

maureenfrombarnsley · 05/12/2020 10:47

She has awful manners, NEVER says please!!!!! For that reason alone it's a crap kids program.

LEELULUMPKIN · 05/12/2020 10:49

Cousin Chloe puts her firmly in her place.

TheBumbleNums · 05/12/2020 10:50

I’ve seen a few episodes where she says please and thank you, it’s not that bad!

Circumlocutious · 05/12/2020 11:03

The fatshaming isn’t funny and has to stop.

iklboo · 05/12/2020 11:11

Ah that's it @JanewaysBun!

GrandTheftWalrus · 05/12/2020 11:11

I found the one where she hangs up on suzie sheep hilarious.

But yes she is a wee brat. And George is a moany pain in the hole.

iklboo · 05/12/2020 11:11

And @BrumBoo

TrufflyPig · 05/12/2020 11:18

She is really rude to adults, if my kids spoke that way to me I would totally lose it 😂

WhoWants2Know · 05/12/2020 11:53

I still laugh at some of the episodes and my kids are nearly teens.

Yeahnahmum · 05/12/2020 12:20

She is a brat and is a fatshamer. And rude.
So it is banned in our home. 😊

NotDesmondsBoat · 05/12/2020 12:38

Yabu. She's hilarious. I crack up at PP.

Happy for kids to watch her all day.

NotDesmondsBoat · 05/12/2020 12:40

PP you're wrong. Bing has plenty to teach kids(and adults!).
There are areas of learning in the early years. TV shows try and incorporate these into their shows.
Its not all about fkin makaton and numbers

Mycastle · 05/12/2020 12:42

I watch an episode utterly agog where pepper her mum and family were laughing at daddy pig because he was too fat to get in to a play house. Daddy pig was embarrassed and even had a red face in shame. I just couldn’t believe what I was watching.

Toddler cartoons fat shaming.

We’ve moved on to Bluey. ( Disney cartoon)

OverTheRainbow88 · 05/12/2020 12:44

I love her, she keeps my son quiet and still for a whole 12 min!
