AIBU to think that she’s a bit of a dick? I’ve only seen a few episodes (by accident) and I’ve seen her being really rude to Daddy Pig for no reason and to that sheep she hangs out with. She’s pretty selfish and a bit of whinge bag.

Is it just me? I really hope she is long gone by the time DS wants to watch tv as she will be banned in this house, she does my head in!

I don't like her, she is rude but my DS loves it. I must admit it has its good points... Delphine the French donkey and the episode they sing head shoulders song. My DS randomly says bonjour to me now and forever doing the actions to the head shoulders, knees and toes, 🤣🤣

PP is a dick. Had to ban DS from watching it because he told a family member they had a fat tummy. I hate when they go to the castle and she says 'it's a boring place for boys' and the fact she doesn't want to see dinosaur exhibits and only cares about seeing the queen's pretty clothes and crown. There's a lot of sexist shit on there.

Mummy Pig is a right passive aggressive cow. Wouldn't want to end up on the same school run as her.

I second moving on the Bluey it’s a family cartoon like Pepper Pig but a whole lot less annoying and even quite amusing for parents.

june2007 · 05/12/2020 16:33

My sister is a feminist and rolls her eyes at a lot of things, it surprised me that her children watch it. Mine seldom did.

jellybellydancers · 05/12/2020 16:36

@TheKeatingFive totally agree! I don't mind Peppa and am always slightly bemused when people are so hyper critical of her. If she was a boy you can bet he would be "cheeky", "funny" and "mischievous". Peppa is a girl though, so she's "rude", "bossy" and a "whinge bag". I don't dispute there are some very sexist elements to it, but some of the criticism is just as bad.

I find this opinion really odd! If she was a boy I would still think she was a dick to her dad and her mates, nothing to do with her being female? She’s just a shitty character from what I’ve seen! I certainly wouldn’t say funny or mischievous if she was a boy, the character itself it just rude, whether it is meant to be male or female. Bit of a stretch to call it sexism...

@ShirleyShirleyShirley fair enough but the vitriol I've seen directed at Peppa far surpasses anything I've seen/heard directed at male-led kids stuff, which seems to dominate - even in my fave, Hey Duggee, there are only two girls. But maybe I'm wrong (I hope I am as I had thought the days of demonising feisty girls was behind us). Personally I think Peppa is quite funny!

FestiveChristmasLights · 05/12/2020 16:54

I really can’t get my knickers in a twist about a children’s cartoon and there are times I’m quite glad my DC is safely and happily occupied for ten mins.

ShirleyShirleyShirley · 05/12/2020 16:59

@jellybellydancers I haven’t seen criticism of her before, so hadnt noticed that, I just saw a few episodes and thought ‘blimey, what a bugger!’ I haven’t seen any other kids tv, so don’t know what the characters are like, but promise I’d say the same if they were boys!

I dislike Peppa immensely, she reminds me of some of the super posh private school kids I met as a nanny for slightly less posh private school kids. We had a Peppa book, Peppa got mud on Daddy Pigs football shirt on the washing line that Mummy Pig had washed, as is her duty, so she put it in to wash again and Peppa put her red dress in. So it ended up pink which of course Daddy Pig couldn't even think of wearing! So it ended with Daddy Pig playing muddy football in his buttoned up white work shirt, rather be uncomfortable than wear anything pink.

Anyone remember Sharkey et George? Please? DC were pre Peppa etc but loved this bizarre French cartoon (can't remember if it was voiced over in English, Gaelic or Welsh).

Sharkey and George, the crime busters of the sea! Sharkey and George, they’ll solve any mystery...

I remember Sharkey and George. I didn't realise however it was originally French 😳

lakesideadvent · 05/12/2020 19:42

I used to love PP, it cracked me up.
Remember it fondly many years later.

I particularly liked the daddy pig episode where he buys a massive Xmas tree.

berryhead2013 · 05/12/2020 19:49

Omg yanbu peppa is a precocious little twat and poor daddy pig gets fat shamed at every opportunity I hate it the kids loved it but I pointed out how rude peppa was and now that's all they see

Goshthatsmyneighbour · 05/12/2020 20:00

When passing yet more roadworks today we were reminiscing at an episode today where the Bull builder was digging up the road. Our kids are 15 and 9 so haven't watched for yearsI So i dunno, it's more memorable than most I guess as I remember the episodes whereas I don't remember many other kids shows...maybe some Ben & Holly episodes, which could be funny too ;-) Peppa is supposed to be obnoxious I imagine otherwise it wouldn't be very interesting!!

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 05/12/2020 20:21

Peppa is a bumptious little piglet but the show itself is genius.

BigBaublesGalore · 05/12/2020 21:04

Bings a c*nt

YesPleaseMary · 05/12/2020 21:09

Hey Duggee is good but the best kids show is Sarah & Duck which wins by a country mile.

Sarah and duck quack Sarah and duck quack Sarah and duck quack

Best theme tune ever!

Suckmyfatone · 06/12/2020 19:03

I suggest you never watch Horrid Henry 😆. If you think peppa is bad, he's an absolutle little twat.

You can say that again

Though he is actually quite a good singer 🎤

Starburst8 · 06/12/2020 20:15

Haha I forgot about horrid Henry. My eldest loved it, had the books and everything. I never really thought he was on level with Peppa but thinking about it, he is. However Perfect Peter makes you forget about Henry's behaviour because you're too busy thinking for God sake again! 🤣

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 06/12/2020 20:30

Yep she's a brat. My dd learnt from it that calling daddy fat is funny. Fat and old I think it was! Oh the whole pp is OK but there is a lot in there that needs a rethink!
