EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 05/12/2020 02:22

I don’t believe in God.

I’d love to think there was something, someone out there but I just don’t, don’t feel anything and as time’s gone by I feel even more sceptical.

I believe in science and evolution.

If there was absolute proof of God’s existence then scrap this post.

If you believe I respect this, I feel rather envious of the comfort you must feel, however, I don’t understand why you would believe in something you’ve never seen, do you believe in ghosts?

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 05/12/2020 02:24

If there is a God they're a bit of a cunt for all intents and purposes. 🙄

blueshoes · 05/12/2020 02:25

@Tootsietoot

God has been made up to fulfill a need in people who can't think for themselves. It is an easy way to make sense of our lack of obvious purpose. Religion is a brilliant way to control lots of people to do what you want.

I’m Muslim, born into a Muslim family, had a period of agnosticism and now - after actively learning more about Islam and other beliefs - am feeling a much stronger connection with Islam.

I am raising my kids in a Muslim household but will encourage them to do their own research and make up their own minds as they grow older.

I believe in God. I must admit there are many ‘hadith’ that I am highly sceptical of, but since they are not written in the actual Quran I take them with a pinch of salt and do my own research into their authenticity.

Love hearing others’ experiences with religion and spirituality.

PopsicleHustler · 05/12/2020 02:33

La illaha I'll Allaha

I am a muslim .and in Arabic that means there is no god but Allah. The one true God who created us from nothing.
The Quran is also full of scientific signs that are being proven today. It's so amazing. Look it up on youtube.

EpitomeOfIndifference · 05/12/2020 02:48

I do not believe in god myself but I don’t see why you can’t believe in god and also in science, if that’s what you want.

I feel about god the same way I feel about magic. It would be nice if it was real but I have never had the slightest indication that it is. I do sort of wish I believed. Not in god as in the all knowing, all powerful being in the bible but I wish I thought there was something after this life. It must be comforting.

TheWoodFromTheTrees · 05/12/2020 02:52

@FluffyPurple

We are sinners, sin literally means to 'miss the mark' of God's holy standard. God's moral law has been broken by us all (except babies etc), we've all lied etc. Jesus lived a sinless life so when he died on the cross he absorbed all the sin like a sponge and settled the debt. If we were guilty of speeding it would be like Jesus paid the fine for us so we can walk free from court on judgement day, although we are guilty, there's no punishment.
You obviously went to bible school but an unregenerate person is not going to understand this....there is too much jargon in here. This is where the church is missing the mark.
squeekums · 05/12/2020 02:58

I believe god is a made up concept to control people by fear, hate and discrimination

GADDay · 05/12/2020 02:58

@Alann01

God is just Santa for adults
THIS
80sForever · 05/12/2020 03:04

How do you know God is a made up concept? Have you ever asked him?

Whatafustercluck · 05/12/2020 03:05

Fence sitting agnostic here. I don't think anything will ever change that. I do think humans are absolute shits though. So if you don't believe in God because why would he allow so many awful things to happen to so many innocent people if he existed, look no further than the free will of mankind to explain why humans are so shit to one another. A lot of wars have either taken place due to mankind's interpretation of God, or just plain greed for the earth's resources and money. If God does exist, and he created everything, then free will was his one defining mistake/ benevolence.

safariboot · 05/12/2020 03:05

I see a world and a universe full of remarkable, wonderful, and beautiful things. And full of horror and tragedy too. But nowhere in it do I see a need for God.

80sForever · 05/12/2020 03:08

God gives us free will because he loves us, he wants us to chose him. Wouldn't you want your kids to love you of your own free will?

80sForever · 05/12/2020 03:09

@safariboot

I see a world and a universe full of remarkable, wonderful, and beautiful things. And full of horror and tragedy too. But nowhere in it do I see a need for God.
But the heavens and the beauty of nature testifies to a cteator, don't you see?
sergeilavrov · 05/12/2020 03:15

I’m an atheist. I feel the logical settling position is that of the agnostic, but I feel that if there is a God, and this being both allows and has furthered the suffering of so many across the world (and many children through those who purport to speak the word of a God), then I choose not to acknowledge the presence of such a being. God would be so bad, I choose to hope that there is nothing. That way, the power to change things for the better remains within reach.

squeekums · 05/12/2020 03:16

@ruby4ever

Of course there's a god. There has to be. Bollocks that the universe came about from Big Bang and humans from evolution. What a load of crap. So why haven't we humans evolved any further??? There has to be a creator to the creation. Do you think humans just come out with amazing interventions, god gives them the knowledge. Everything happens for a reason. Why is there poor people? If there wasn't how would we learn to be good in giving charity, to be grateful. How does our good deeds increase? Life is a test. I believe all those poor people, innocent people being killed, etc they aren't suffering for nothing, they will get paradise of eternal bliss. Those of us in better positions are given the choice of doing good for others, for ourselves.
Where to start with this shit So your idea god is a sadist? Lets people suffer to teach others lessons? Evil bastard. Anyone who thinks thats good and ok is seriously fucked up

You console yourself they will be in eternal bliss so YOU feel ok believing in such a monster who makes no actual sense or logic

Bet you would agree with the bitches who said i didnt pray enough and thats why my mother died. Had nothing to do with the terminal bone and breast cancer at all, just my lack of prayer

squeekums · 05/12/2020 03:17

@80sForever

How do you know God is a made up concept? Have you ever asked him?
Cant ask figments of peoples imagination
80sForever · 05/12/2020 03:21

@squeekums well you're going around in circles because to find out if he is real you need to ask but you wouldn't ask because you think he is not real

SexyGiraffe · 05/12/2020 03:30

I don't believe in any religious idea of a god, certainly. It's impossible to see any rationale why one major religion would have any more likelihood of being true than any other. Whether there is more to this universe than we have so far been able to speculate through science? I am open minded about that one.

fishykettles · 05/12/2020 03:35

@Jojojo32

No, I think it's crazy that in 2020 we still have this. Religion has caused wars deaths pain, think the world would be a safer simpler and happier place without it.
Lack of religion has also caused wars and deaths. Should we abolish that too?
Onedropbeat · 05/12/2020 05:01

To add to my previous comment -

Religion is dangerous

It’s often the cause behind most wars , it causes major divides and prejudice

I can’t have any respect for it

As someone else said - you don’t need to believe in a god to not go through life knowing right from wrong and not being a dick

Designingheaven · 05/12/2020 05:08

A penis is the same as religion. Ok to have one just don’t wave it in everyone’s faces.

PurBal · 05/12/2020 05:31

I believe in God. I don't really understand why there is this concept of science versus religion. They're not at odds with one another, you can be a scientist and religious. As for religion: doubt is not the opposite of faith.

justilou1 · 05/12/2020 05:37

@Designingheaven - Yep. God is a dick... 🤣

BigMomma164 · 05/12/2020 06:00

I believe in God. He has always existed. Before the existence of the world and will exist even after the world ends. He created everything including science. Science belongs to God. We are only discovering small amounts of science but God has the full picture. He knows the intricacies of the world.
God is Most Loving and loves us more than anyone. A lot of people struggle with the suffering in the world. However the world is not the complete picture. I believe in an afterlife so suffering in the world can be balanced with an eternity of happiness and health.
Just like some people see but a speck of science and deny the Creator, others see what is in the grand scheme a speck of suffering and deny Him too.
In suffering there are also great opportunities for good. Imagine a world where noone needed help or support, there would be little reason to be kind and empathetic as noone would be vulnerable. In times of suffering often stronger bonds of love and kindness are formed.
Some people feel entitled to a healthy pain free life free of suffering but noone promised that. In fact the nature of the world is that the only guarantee is death!
It scares me how little people think about what will happen after death even though we will likely be dead for longer than we have lived.
I would recommend everyone reads about religion before writing it off
