Bread bin

LePimpernelScarlette · 05/12/2020 12:33

A pressure cooker, for years my mum has nagged me about their uses but all I could think about was their loud steaminess and was terrified it would explode. This year due to Covid I have not seen my mum to get one of her Xmas puds - I had to make my own which meant I needed a pressure cooker.

I am such a convert, stock in 50mins, soups in 10, a casserole in 30 mins. Argh I am loathe to admit the truth to my mum though.....

Wool, needles, material everywhere.

Unfinished projects, finished projects

Now gifting to others

I’ve become my mother

Fandantastic · 05/12/2020 12:57

Tan Loafers (she actually turned up in the same pair)
Electric blanket (how did I never have one)
Big pants (be gone bum flosser)

To be fair she’s actually very stylish and quite an amazing woman. If I can be half like her I’ll be happy.

BikerWife · 05/12/2020 13:03

Sherry glasses

A labelling machine

CaMePlaitPas · 05/12/2020 13:29

Slippers and an anorak.

lidoshuffle · 05/12/2020 13:49

I just bought my first bottle of Croft Original sherry last week. Haven't had it in 30 years, but really fancied the Christmassy idea of it.

It'll be Babysham and Snowballs next...

Soubriquet · 05/12/2020 13:52

A onesie (I don’t like dressing gowns) and slippers

I was adamant I was never going to have them

theinternetmakesmyeyesfeelsick · 05/12/2020 15:19

@thinkingaboutLangCleg I love these threads, lighthearted but they always give me something to think about.

I agree, I had no idea how much reminiscing and laughing and nodding my head I'd do.

An ugly dressing gown !!!

MrsClatterbuck · 05/12/2020 18:03

I have bought one of those rain mates. Oh the shame but thought it would be handy to have in my hand bag especially when leaving the hairdressers and it's raining.

2018SoFarSoGreat

My DM sang the praises of an air fryer for two years, to the point that I said "NOT ONE MORE WORD" - then my DH showed me his marvelous new tool, which he loves and I love what it produces.
Confused

jbee1979 · 05/12/2020 18:34

Hairy legs, just because it's a hassle to balance in the shower and a bath takes too long, especially with viewers in the bathroom.

jbee1979 · 05/12/2020 18:35

A handbag full of shite that would break your arm.

Merryweather80 · 05/12/2020 18:36

Thanks to this thread I've just at gas the awful, terrifying realisation that I am my mother.
Ornaments we're my huge never having them because who has time to dust the dam things. I own a set of two.
I left home at 17 and before I was 25 I owned an electric carving knife, a set of ’best’ plates, cutlery and glasses.
A slow cooker
Picnic set with cool bags and full-size flask.
A blender.
Ten tonnes of Tupperware.
Funeral wear.
Waterproofs etc
Garden furniture and ornaments
Sewing bits and spare buttons.
A de bobbler.

It was me who introduced her to NT membership.

I've realised I'm ancient at 40!

Merryweather80 · 05/12/2020 18:40

Pyrex! I forgot the pyrex and serving dishes too.

hanka · 05/12/2020 18:42

Slightly off point
Am I the only one now singing to myself

“Let’s do it tonight?” (it’s reading about all those hostess trollies)???
goes away humming

PrtScn · 05/12/2020 19:00

@theinternetmakesmyeyesfeelsick

massive pants - check sensible waterproof coat - check

My DF still has the GPlan furniture they bought way back when - I think it's now called 'mid-century'.

I regret giving away a gplan wardrobe that I inherited with a house purchase. I kept the gplan cupboard though, which I’ve “upscaled” with chalk paint and use to keep my tools in 🤣
surfergrl · 05/12/2020 19:04

A hair-drying bonnet. I love it. It's keeping me warm. No shame. Grin

MummyMayo1988 · 05/12/2020 19:11

Big knickers and non-wired bra's.
Serving plates.
Hand/foot moisturiser & pumice stone.
100 sets of PJ'S
She also used to use my dada old pants for dusting - I draw the line at this tho! 🙈😂

Arborea · 05/12/2020 19:13
@arborea Greenwich but not free ;-)
I would happily pay, but it's several hundreds of miles away Sad

Yellowiceytek · 05/12/2020 19:16

A hostess trolley! Best thing ever. My mother still has her original one.
Some knitting or crochet on the go!
Lots of house plants.

Hplewie · 05/12/2020 19:16

A flask of coffee into work to save money!

nephthys · 05/12/2020 19:26

A spectacles chain - no more having to search the house for my missing glasses. It looks dreadful though.

Coquohvan · 05/12/2020 19:32

Yes mum -
Washing smells nicer dried outside
Wearing vests is cozy
Buy cheap buy twice
Batch cooking is worth it
DH shirts ironed is smarter (DH does his own at times)
Gardening is my quiet relaxing time
A smart dark coat is a classic item
Sewing kits are useful

Miss her
