If I'm watching TV, I go straight to Netflix, as there doesn't seem to be much on terrestrial that isn't a) stupid or b) depressing. Is it just me that does this?

Nor just Netflix. I do go on bbc iplayer and more 4 quite a lot.

StCharlotte · 01/12/2020 21:54

Probably not.

I watch normal TV before streamed TV (obviously more easily pleased than you Grin).

I miss the days of the whole country talking about the previous night's TV although I'm a Celeb seems to have revived that a bit this year.

LimaFoxtrotCharlie · 01/12/2020 21:56

I only watch terrestrial TV. Mostly the BBC, occasionally Channel 4.

merryhouse · 01/12/2020 21:59

Yes. It's just you. You are the only person with refined tastes. Everyone else in the whole world just sits on the sofa being spoon-fed pap from overpaid men in suits.

Mintjulia · 01/12/2020 22:00

I don't bother with Netflix either. Not my sort of thing.

I use iPlayer and itvhub sometimes, but then I don't watch a huge amount of tv. Smile

AfterSchoolWorry · 01/12/2020 22:03

I never watch tv, other than Gardner's World which I record.

I watch Netflix, Prime or sky go on my laptop or phone.

TV seems kind of quaint now. My dd 8 hardly knows how to use the TV, she just uses her tablet and laptop.

amicissimma · 01/12/2020 22:04

5.15. Cup of tea. Biscuit. Pointless.

I don't want to mess about with iPlayer. I want to 'have to' stop what I'm doing, sit back and be twinkled at by Alexander Armstrong on the dot of 5.15.

LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone · 01/12/2020 22:05

90% terrestrial tv, 10% Amazon Prime.

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 01/12/2020 22:05

Prime or Netflix

satnighttakeaway · 01/12/2020 22:05

Yes, pretty sure I had a news alert today, in the style of the Mash Report it said “middle class mumsnetter scientifically proven to be the only living being who only watches Netflix”

This isn't a serious question is it?

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2020 22:05

I’m watching I’m a Celebrity on ITV plus 1 on my huge bedroom telly right now does that count?
Then in the morning I’ll be watching Piers Morgan on GMB.

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2020 22:06

Oh and Saturday night-Strictly on BBC1. 🤷‍♀️

Doingtheboxerbeat · 01/12/2020 22:07

I found myself watching a heartwarming Christmas TV movie today, on channel 5 Shock. I asked my DM to send help, because I thought I was having a stroke and was unable to use the remote. I was just getting into the christmas spirit or something, so it does happen occasionally.

PurBal · 01/12/2020 22:07

I'm watching terrestrial right now 😂

MaMaLa321 · 01/12/2020 22:08

perfectly serious. Most of the BBC's output is, as I've said, either stupid or really depressing. IMO, anyway.

I only watch free tv.

Changi · 01/12/2020 22:10

We got rid of our pay tv subscriptions a couple of years ago. Don't miss them at all.

Watching Ch5 at the moment.

Alys20 · 01/12/2020 22:12

YANBU at all. Got rid of the TV two years ago and watch Netflix on a monitor.

Still getting bullying letters from the BBC, despite filling in the no TV form. Licence fee tyranny was the main reason I got rid of it in the first place, along with the outrageous presenter salaries.

evenBetter · 01/12/2020 22:12

It seems odd in this day and age to have a tuned in tv, turn it on, and watch whatever crap happens to be on, and pay £120 a year. There are many better options than that, I don’t consume any tv, live tv, or bbc products.

SushiGo · 01/12/2020 22:13

His Dark Materials and Small Axe both fantastic and on the BBC currently.

I like Netflix, but there is absolute pap on there too and I can't always find something to watch. The future is definitely on demand, but not all from one provider. Lots of services is the way to go.

Do you only watch Netflix originals then? You say nothing on tv interests you, but there are a lot of dramas on Netflix that were initially on terrestrial. So it’s not like there’s a firm split between the two.
JayDot500 · 01/12/2020 22:15

We've just cancelled sky because Netflix and Now TV do the trick. I'm sitting here watching BBC news though.

I was complaining to DH about the problem with TV shows imo. I grew up with gladiators, then early Big Brother, et al. My question is, why do most of the prime time reality shows have to feature uninspiring celebs? I prefer shows where we meet new people, instead of the same celebs, different show.

ELM8 · 01/12/2020 22:16

I'm a bit weird, whenever I've gone through lonely periods in my life I've got some comfort from knowing I'm watching the same thing as thousands, sometimes millions of other people..

Lucky enough to not be lonely at the minute and have a lovely family around me but still much prefer to watch things "live" and know other people are watching as well Blush

safariboot · 01/12/2020 22:17

DM quit Netflix a few years back because she was unimpressed with the offerings. She watches at least one of the "big five" channels every day and wouldn't be without a TV.

PepsiArcade · 01/12/2020 22:19

I don’t watch terrestrial tv anymore. I suppose I’m just used to being able to watch something at whatever time’s most convenient, so will usually watch shows on catch up through iPlayer or wherever.
