I lost my shit by email

I know I shouldn't have done, I wish I hadn't and I've taken steps so that it won't happen ever again.

There is a backstory but I'm not sure it's entirely relevant, I will give details if it affects the ability to give me any advice.

I lost my shit via email. No swearing and no threats but lots of criticism of the other person and lots of criticism of their abilities. There were about five emails from me in total, growing in their anger as they went along. The recipient was very formal and didn't engage but was essentially asking me to do something that she didn't understand was an incorrect course of action. Think along the lines of 'you incompetent idiot'. I KNOW I WAS THE IDIOT for doing this.

The recipient was my former employer although I was self-employed and had no contract.

Can I get into trouble legally?

I’m not going to tell you you’ve messed up because you already know.

In my experience a really heartfelt apology goes a surprisingly long way: even when you have been quite out of order. Everyone has really bad days and people are usually surprisingly forgiving if they can see you are remorseful.

It takes more than 5 emails to harass someone. Don't overthink it, put it behind you, any further action will only dig a deeper hole, and actually a bit of truth might do her good albeit it could have been delivered better.

I’m still laughing at ‘Oh yes, fuck yooooooo’

I'm really not a bully in any shape or form. Not in the slightest, I hate bullies. @Wondergirl100 if you knew the circumstances and how she actually bullied me you wouldn't say that.

Thanks so much to everyone for the advice and laughs, it's made me feel a lot better.

Mumsnet can be a really great place.
